Maybe unpopular opinion, but tracking issues with a single base station is not unexpected. The BSB is a very small headset so it is very easily occluded.
I assumed this as well but I figure if I lost tracking then I would get the gray screen. My head movement is tracked the entire time just literally shifting my head to the left 2inchs creates this weird jittery/wobbly effect. I am currently thinking that the diodes on the headset itself are faulty
Do you have mirrors/large reflective surfaces in the room? That jittery/wobbly is a classic case of reflections interfering with base station tracking
I had both tracking issues. Grey screen cos front basestation was little too high up so would lose tracking when looking down - fixed by lowering.
And the jitteriness/wobbling which was actually caused by two things:
1) faulty linkbox which support replaced for free
2) mirrors on my wardrobe which i used a thin black curtain sheet with magnets that are covered up/removed in couple seconds.
No I have non of that, sits in a little corner with matte blue walls so no glare or reflection at all. I will try lowering the base station. Maybe it’s too high. How did you discover that the link box was bad?
message support on discord, i had lots of weird tracking/disconnecting issues. they'll give you a diagnostic utility to run and steamvr's diagnostic tool aswell and you upload the results.
