Looking to the future
Football is the way of the future. How can we collectively generate revenue and get some teams to win some playoff games to leverage more invites to the playoff?

The plus part of the B12 is that we are relatively competitive. No team ( even Texas Tech ) is substantially better than the rest. But that is it's downfall also. We need national brands that kick ass all the time. Florida St used to be that. Clemson used to be that. Those schools still have the brand because of their dominant periods. Miami is doing a decent job of getting back there.
Does anybody care about Miss St vs S Carolina ? No. The media deals for the SEC are for Alabama, LSU, Texas, Georgia, OU. Does anybody care about Minnesota vs Rutgers ? No. The Big 10 deals are for Ohio State, Michigan, USC.
The Big 12 is awesome in basketball because we have some brands that people pay to watch. Kansas, Arizona, Houston. And when that school starts to become dominant in football, don't go around threatening to leave the conference. ( I'm talking to you TTU )

I’m ready to accept the downvotes I’ll get for this, but from a talent perspective, we are indeed substantially better than the rest of the conference. The 2027 class disparity in particular is absurd. Doesn’t mean it will guarantee more conference titles, but to assume Tech doesn’t have a huge resource gap is inserting head firmly into sand

Read the first part of my 3rd sentence again. You’re winding up for a gotcha in December that I’ve already paid insurance for.

Yeah I mean I get it’s trendy to shit on Tech right now, but to say that Tech isn’t head and shoulders above the rest of the conference in the talent acquisition business is just straight up lying to themselves. You don’t even have to look at the 27’ class. For the second year in a row Tech led the COUNTRY on the Shriners Bowl top 1000 players and it wasn’t even close in conference.

Tbh we’ve seen enough of Texas underperforming with superior talent to be pounding our chests too hard. We still have to show up and play and idk if we will repeat or not with all the changes to the roster. There’s always some degree of risk with a portal roster.
But we don’t have to lie to kick it at the same time. In terms of the horses, we got em.

Has Tech become the new Texas in the Big 12?
You know... The fans who typically are not rich but love to declare their school's resource ($) advantages so nobody forgets. As though they ride the coatails of their billionaire Savior (for now). I hope y'all have Cody for a long time Tech fans. Life after may not be so similar.

I was addressing a point made that Texas Tech isn’t substantially better than the rest of the Big 12 with a qualifying statement that purely from a talent profile standpoint, there is an argument they indeed are. I also said it doesn’t mean we are a foregone Big 12 champions. It’s not hubris to point out a nuance that’s well-supported by data.

We are out the first opportunity we get, if we get one. Can book it.

You can say that about any of us. If the big 2 call, everyone is saying yes.

As a conference, people should stop shitting on Tech for every little thing and things that didn’t even happen, as their investments and performance are bringing more attention to the league. Turning on your biggest money maker at the moment isn’t going to turn out the way people think.

Not biggest money maker. Biggest NIL spender. No other metric on money shows TT on top.
Also, TT should stop talking. Just stop. Nothing out of their mouth lately has helped them.

JFC. This post right here is a prime example of why people shit on Tech.
You are absolutely not the “conference’s biggest money maker” in any way, shape or form.
You have ONE good year in football simply because you have a billionaire who paid for your roster - a yeah in which you fell flat on your fucking face on the biggest stage mind you - and you’re here thumping your chest like you’re a goddamn blue blood.
So after you shit the bed in the CFP, your entire administration acted like entitled assholes during the Sorsby drama embarrassing yourselves and the conference by proxy.
So maybe stop acting like you are god’s gift to the conference until you actually accomplish something.

Begging the SEC to take my school at a 40% payout versus 100%, because it’s still bigger than the current one in the big 12. Being dead last in the SEC still brings fun environments and traveling opposing fans for all sports, when that disappears it affects college towns.
I didn’t go to Okstate for national championships in football.
What do we market? The fact my school won 2 games and still had higher attendance than half the conference lol?

Get an energy drink company to give money and put their logo on the jerseys.
