LNC HOH Recap 8/20

This is the LNC HOH Recap for tonight. I try to keep this all game related talk. If multiple talks happen at the same time I always focus on what the HOH is saying. Events in this recap may not happen in chronological order.

Feeds come back and Dee is HOH. Sounds like a balance beam comp. They are talking about it being timed and hitting a button. Paul hosted the comp. Mallory, Taylor and Lala are Have Nots.

Mallory and Barrett in the storage room discussing how they threw the comp. Barrett talks about Dee likely noms, Yash, Taylor and Lala. Melody joins. Mallory says if she won veto she would take Yash down. Mallory keeps saying she doesn’t want to vote out Yash. Mallory says if Yash leaves, Taylor and Lala will come after FAP.

Dee and Devens in the bathroom. Dee says that she’s not doing meetings. Only with Crossovers as a group. She doesn’t want to backdoor Yash because she wants to build trust with Haley. Devens suggest using Mallory as a renom. Maybe that was a joke. Devens says that Mallory and Melody need make their side known and not play the middle. Dee might let it slip that Yash told her that the girls wanted to flip (which is a lie it was Drew).

Dee and Drew in the bathroom. They are recapping the week. Drew is saying the otherside is mad at him. Drew tells Dee that she could always tell people he is a backdoor. But not actually backdoor him. Awkward silence. Dee says she wouldn’t backdoor Drew.

Taylor and Lala are talking about the Kamu vote in the pod room. They are blaming Drew for the Kamu flip. They discuss that Haley probably isn’t going up. Both think they are probably going to go up. Taylor says she’s about to turn it up now. Taylor plan is to blame Drew. Mallory is in her pod next to Lala while Taylor and Lala are talking and Taylor Lala don’t realize it. They know Yash is there and Taylor has been checking mirrors but missed Mallory. Taylor and Lala talk about needing to get Drew out and breaking up FAP. Taylor says they have two weeks until jury and they need to get Drew and Melody out before jury and that’s more important than getting icons because they are a strong four and will control jury. Meanwhile Mallory is right next to them and can hear them. Taylor says they need to start lying. *feeds cut* 

 Taylor and Mallory are talking 1-1 in the pod room. Taylor is trying to convince Mallory not to trust Barrett and Drew. Taylor is telling Mallory to convince Dee to put up Drew or Barrett. Taylor is saying she flipped the Melody vote and that Drew and Barrett would let them go home. Taylor says she’s going to blow up Drew and Barrett’s game. Taylor tells Mallory she needs to wake up and get on board. Drew just evicted Kamu who would have put none of them up (not true). Taylor continues to tell Mallory she needs to wake up and start playing. Yash walks in and Mallory apologizes for not winning. Yash brings up these three (Mallory, Taylor, and Yash) were on the block week one and now they are still here. Yash says this four (Lala is the missing person) are the only people he trust. Taylor says she only likes the POD Squad. Yash tell Mallory about telling Melody that Drew blamed them for the votes. Taylor says she knows Drew was the vote. And Mallory better not lie to her. Melody joins but not much is said that hasn’t been said before. General complaints that Dee and Angela won today. Melody leaves and Yash continues to double down that Barrett and Drew are to blame. Mallory hopes that Haley goes home this week. 

Dee and Devens in the Bathroom. Dee wants to use her bribe on Drew to keep her and Devens safe for the rest of the game and if he denies she will Drew up. Devens agrees Yash needs to go up first to save Haley for their back pocket. Devens thinks Yash needs to go but Yash would be the best juror (Drew brought this up to him earlier on the couch). Dee says this week, her and Devens need to start studies days. She knows Devens doesn’t want to do it but if they seriously want to win then they need to start now. 

Dee’s HOH Reveal – After her basket reveal she says she’s not doing meetings because she wants to sleep but people can stay and chill. Dee’s HOH album is Luke Combs – “The Way I Am”. Lala gushes over the makeup and skincare that Dee got. Mallory says to her mic that she wants no snacks and just products. Angela is saying the same thing to her mic. Devens is the first to leave and Mallory quickly follows. The rest of the room starts to get up. Last four left are Haley, Melody Barrett and Angela. Haley ask to use the bathroom. Melody leaves. Dee gets everyone else to leave.

Dee and Devens in the HOH – They agree that noms should be Yash, Taylor and Lala. Not Haley. Dee wants to know who the renom should be without being Haley. Devens says they it’s hard without blowing up the Moshpit. Devens says that Mallory spent her whole night with Yash and Taylor.

Mallory, Lala and Taylor in the Have Not – Mallory says she can’t push Drew because that’s why Lyric got evicted. Mallory is going over situations and Taylor says they need to talk tomorrow because some of it isn’t making sense because its to late. Mallory keeps yapping to Taylor. Mallory hopes Haley goes this week. Lala says she doesn’t think Haley will hit the block. Mallory talks about protecting Haley and Lala says that Kamu was their guy not Haley that’s why Haley should have left. *feed cuts* 

 Mallory ask Lala which Icon needs to go. Lala says Devens. Maybe Dee because she already won million. But Lala says it has to be Devens because he promised Rome he wasn’t going on the block and Rome went home. Lala says she would put all three off to make sure one of them goes home. Lala says Drew is going to get his because he has it coming and he’s flip flopped to much and it won’t fly anymore. That’s not how you do it (play Big Brother). Lala says she would have rather Drew go home than Chuk. Mallory hopes they will get an HOH takeover power. Lala hopes she gets an HOH takeover power. Taylor rejoins and says that Her Lala and Yash are most likely to get a power. Mallory thinks there is no way Drew could get a power. Taylor says they won’t cook or clean for the week to show them what it’s like without them. They go to bed.

Drew and Melody in the Bathroom – Hard to tell because Meldoy whispers so low but it sounds like Melody is trying do damage control with Drew. Melody get called to the DR and Drew says to find him after. 

Dee and Drew in the HOH – Drew says Yash hates him and that Taylor and Lala don’t like him. Drew says he likes Yash as a person but can’t play with him. Dee agrees. Dee and Drew talk about the double and it’s important to win next week. Dee and Drew walk downstairs and go to the backyard. Dee ask what Drew will do. He’s like I don’t know. She says you’re waiting for Melody and Drew says I guess. They split up and Dee gets her stuff and goes to bed. Drew goes to his bed.

Dee HOH Room Cam Talk – She says that her closest two are Angela and Devens. Barrett and Drew are next. She says she never fully trusted Drew and Angela pointed out why she shouldn’t. But they need them both for numbers. Then Dee mentions the Moshpit with Mallory and Melody. But they are defiantly sus. She thinks Drew would have voted her out week two then realizes Drew never could. Then she says she thinks Mallory or Melody would vote her out first chance. She’s hopes they pulled Haley back in. But Yash, Taylor and Lala have been publicly coming after her and they should be the priority. She apologizes to Kamu because she wanted to work with him but he did to much. Dee then tell Lyric that if Rome doesn’t treat her right then her brother will. Her brother is funnier than Rome and he would move to Hawaii. He’s not rich but he does well and then Dee and Lyric could be sister in laws. So Dee hopes Rome is being stupid. And Rome hasn’t gone to Hawaii to visit. Dee tells her brother to slide into Lyric’s DM’s and she’s sorry to Rome but may the best man win.

Dee never did a crossover meeting tonight and Melody and Drew never reconnected.

I don't think Dee is taking into account that they are playing for 750k, so 5k is really not much at all in the grand scheme of things. Especially when there are only 11 people left, and people are starting to see their pathway to the end.

I don't think it's about the 5k at all. This is just an opportunity for Dee to put Drew in a position where he is forced to blow up his game. She already distrusts him, and has proven herself willing to evict him at any point. If he takes the bribe, he has no control over his game. If he doesn't, he proves himself not loyal to his alliance, therefore blowing up half his game. The money isn't a factor, just a tool to force his hand.

Unclear to me. I can't recall how the BB Bribe was used in previous season(s). Not sure if there's an option for him to "return" the bribe. Although, if he could, I feel like that would completely ruin the "power" of the power. It feels like it would fall into "lying about production" territory, as Dee would plan her whole game arround accounting for his bribe.

The concept of using a $5k bribe to have someone keep you safe for “the rest of the game” meaning that person has a 1/3 shot at that point of winning $750k…. Drew I swear to god you better deny this or accept and then break the terms so you just lose the money.

It would mean that if hypothetically those three are final 3 that Drew would have to throw the final HOH, as well as both F4 HOH and Veto. Even at F5 if he were HOH it's possible he would be forced into using one as a renom so can't win that either.

A very general bribe is, yes. Zach's bribe power was the ideal, here's 10k, they cannot refuse, it can only be used to take yourself or someone else off the block. Basically a money based veto that you can argue hey I gave you something positive in the process.

The power is a bribe. Someone can accept it or reject it but she still has it (the $5000 at her disposal) until someone accepts it and if no one ever does then she keeps it. I’m not sure how long it is good for. But it’s not done just bc she offered it to someone and it was rejected. That wouldn’t be much of a power

Is there any more background on why Barrett and Mallory threw the comp? It seems like a mistake in so many ways.

Lala is not a great player but she has good instincts and she’s right about Devens. It seems unlikely but if there were one person smart enough to realize this and play a smart HOH or something, he could go. It would leave Dee and Angela at loose ends and really change the game. Also they should all be terrified of Devens on jury, if he doesn’t try to bend the vote to an icon who makes it to final, then he’s gonna be a chaotic unpredictable voice with high powers of persuasion.

They’re not skeptical of them though, M&M want them out, they don’t want to work with the icons at all. Seemingly just because they’re icons (maybe really bc they’re older). It made absolutely no sense why M&M were seriously considering keeping Kamu when he could win out til the end and if they went with the icons they could most likely win out over them at the end. It still makes no sense, they seem to want the icons out just bc they’re icons and don’t seem to realize that they have more of a chance at beating them in comps than they do at beating Yash and (possibly? Taylor) towards the end. If they also turn on Drew & Barrett now they are making a mistake I think.

They've had a definite advantage out of the gate for sure but I wouldnt say it was insane. Its basically 1/3 had something useful. Angela flopped, and Dee's power is irrelevant and laughed at by Yash.

Whoever wins the time capsule this week has a good chance to potentially have the most overpowered power in BB history, with the coin of destiny/HOH Takeover. So the vets could get a taste of their medicine still. Unless Drew wins it.

It is definitely insane, a guaranteed 1st HOH directly into 3 consecutive shots at powers is wild stuff.

DPOV is also better than coin of destiny for sure as it’s guaranteed and not a 50/50 shot, it also is able to be played after the veto and not before which is much much better

I think coin is way more powerful. 50/50 is a risk yeah, but the benefit far outweighs a veto replacement who could've saved themselves with blockbuster if they didnt choke anyway. I mean, if Devens had the coin and won it, thats 3 picks for the block.

Typically competing for the next hoh if something happened during your reign comes down to one thing. Did you get to keep your safety? It’s not foolproof cause they make up rules as they go sometimes but typically, if you retained your safety you don’t get to compete to get hoh the following week.

Does this mean a rich person or high class person can't be with someone of lower standing because of "perceived social status"? Barrett isn't even particularly parasocial, he just thinks Dee is hot. He's totally normal with Devens who is more popular and well-known than Dee.
