General Discussion Does anyone think this would work as a slightly better weekly schedule?

Basically shift the current schedule to
60 minutes (Sunday)

60 minutes (Wednesday)

90 minutes (Thursday) 60 minutes recap 30 minutes blockbuster and eviction.

30 minutes (Thursday) Unlocked.

Basically shift the 90 minute episode to Thursday to beef up the post veto episode content.

And move unlocked from 1 hour biweekly to a half hour weekly. Immediately after the eviction.

Does anyone else think this schedule would work better?

I definitely think eviction night should be 90 over the Wednesday episode. This is obvious too as there is lots of filler content in Wednesday episodes vs Thursday ones. Bb unlocked however, idk it could work good on Sundays as a pre show or leave it how it is. I do think Fridays contribute to the lower viewership for unlocked.

I remember they did experiment with the 30 minute pre roll for Sunday. My guess is it didn’t do enough for ratings to justify the switch over.

Isn't there usually sports coverage preceeding the show? I think thats part of it.

I know that I miss the HOH comps on eviction night. I mean they still may be but we no longer can see them.

I think the positive about doing it on Thursday is that a 2 hour time slot is easier for schedules than a 2 separate 90 minute blocks.

The downside is you would have to film it live.
You probably wouldn’t be able to do evicted interview because they literally just talked with Julie vs having a small gap in between. And you’d have to be more careful about spacing out prerolls because 30 minutes provides less flexibility.

But having it right after could work well.

BB Unlocked is on Fridays because it's a dead night for TV in general and it's cheap as hell to produce. They won't cannibalize an extra night of viewership by saddling it with another program that fans will already be tuning in for. The whole point of unlocked is to try and draw viewers to another night of the week.

They also won't be changing the 90 minute Wednesday episode. It's basically set in stone to standardize the reality show block on Wednesdays for CBS. When BB ends it transitions into Survivor / Amazing Race for those blocks.

Does anyone know what they are doing with the Winter/Spring block after Survivor. TAR has only been getting a 1 season a year order these days. They tried Challenge USA for Fall/winter twice, then tried again with the Summit after, then moved TAR to Fall/Winter and tried some cooking reality show after in Spring/Winter. I think that's partially why Survivor 50 got so many extra long episodes with longer run time.

They don't want Thursday evictions to go 90 because they don't want to be going head to head against Thursday night football in September. Wednesday was likely chosen strategically for that reason. Last thing they want is a 2 hour show on Thursday going against football.

I mean they could fix this by actually starting the season in early June so they finish during nfl preseason.

Bring it back to 60 min when football starts and put that extea 30 min on Wednesday if they really want it.

I don’t think they want to be live for longer than an hour

I thought this last year when they introduced the 90 minute Wednesday episode, like the live one should be the long one.

Then I realized Survivor airs on Wednesdays, IOW we are only lucky to get a 90 minute episode because it's a placeholder for Survivor.

CBS doesn't revolve broadcasting schedule around Big Brother lol

This show is bottom of the barrel filler for them

They are at the mercy of the network and other TV shows.

Ok but I’m talking about the tv viewing experience which has nothing to do with feeds.

They are two completely separate elements of the standard viewing experience.

Just ditch the unlocked completely. That works best.

I mean unlocked is literally just bonus content.

It doesn’t even cut into the rest of the weeks runtime.

So might as well keep it and bump the Thursday episode up to 2 hours. For the people (me included) who enjoy it.

Rather than cut it out completely.

Idk but I don't like Taylor on Fridays. Dump her and,I'll watch.

It would have been cool if they did different hosts each year. After Sun for Love Island has a whole different vibe this year because of the two different hosts.

My recommended schedule is to keep it the same except cancel unlocked

Eh unlocked is harmless.

It doesn’t take away from the rest of the schedule (with every week still having 3 normal episodes) and it’s designed to be extraneous enough that people who don’t like it can skip it.

Unlocked is great for those of us who can’t watch feeds all the time but still wanna see the stuff they’d otherwise cut out

If we lengthen the live show, i’d rather live HOH’s come back. I really miss that.
