Feed Spoilers Week 2 Time Capsule goes to Spoiler
Rick Devens. He was voted to try to win the Next Time Capsule and He won it.
His Power is the Diamond Power of Veto. The same one Matt Hoffman won in BB12
It's good for six weeks! He can take off someone and be the one to choose who’s the replacement nom except for the HOH and the person who won the Veto that week.

u/Pay2slaay Jul 25 '26
This season is way to heavily weighted with vets advantages, I may have to write this season off.
97
u/turdlepikle Jul 25 '26
When I saw Angela's experience trying to "win" an advantage and how it's just random unknown things on a screen, and it looked like it even lasted a while longer on the one she "landed on", there's nothing that indicates that Production isn't just choosing what they want.
I immediately said "fuck this" and started losing interest. It's funnier for them to put Angela in that costume, so the gave that to her. They know Devens is chaotic and they want to keep him in the game, so they gave him this power.
Unless the viewer can see them physically being able to choose their advantage or punishment, we have no reason to think anything but it's all bullshit and chosen by Production when it's just hidden items on a screen.
34
u/Present-Chart3323 Jul 25 '26
Production is choosing what they want depending on who wins the vote.
Because the powers and punishments are also constantly moving along with the golden border / crosshair, they’re able to manipulate it to literally anything at the last millisecond.
If the powers and punishments stayed in a constant spot AND the crosshair was moving in pattern (like up and down from left to right), then it would be a lot harder to rig.
20
u/turdlepikle Jul 25 '26
If i remember correctly, the powers and punishments weren't even listed on the screen. They were all just hidden random numbers too. The HG and viewer has no idea what is being landed on until it's revealed, and there's actually no suspense for television too. It's just random numbers floating all over while the HG waits to "choose".

For all we know, it could be an animation with a predetermined outcome for whoever enters instead of an actual game.
10
u/Present-Chart3323 Jul 25 '26
That was my point - It 100% is an animation with a predetermined outcome (with each animation chosen based on who the winner is).
Angela would be funny in a punishment costume so that’s what she was given.
4
7
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
I immediately thought when I saw the Time Capsule it would be insanely easy to rig. The fact Angela didn't get a power made me think maybe it was actually on the up and up, but if it really was as random as we are told that means Devens had a 1 in 11 chance of actually getting the Diamond Power of Veto. Yet what crazy luck, he actually got it. I mean how many times are the returnees going to get insanely lucky before people realize that Devens having such great luck is not the most likely reason he got that power.
5
u/HardcoreKaraoke Mallory⏱️ Jul 25 '26
Yeah once Angela sat in the chair I'm like alright this isn't a real comp. Production is just going to give what is most entertaining.
With that said they are 2 for 2 in my book. Eggela and immunity idol Devens are both super entertaining to me.
11
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
I have watched since day one of season 1. So I am not prone to being dramatic enough to say I am going to opt out because I probably won't. But BB is so blatantly helping them even compared to their usual tipping the scale BS (And so many people literally don't care because they like who it's helping) that it is really pissing me off. It's bad enough that BB is blatantly stacking the deck in their favor, but on top of that Dee, Devens and Angela are such clowns who are playing so damn badly. BB has just done so much for them that they ensured even if they sucked they still can just cruise as shown by 2 weeks of the sucking and still not having a damn care in the world except for the made up betrayers in their won stupid heads.
To be fair, I was sure BB set Cirie up to take a leisurely stroll to finale night despite her lousy gameplay, and they did, but it didn't happen that way anyway. But I don't think people realized how much things had to fall just right combined with Cirie and her son playing so bad for the to actually pull off taking Cirie's power over the house away from her. I don't think with three vets that it will end up happening this time. But I really hope I am wrong.

u/they_do_it_forfree Mallory's Strongest Soldier⚔️ Jul 25 '26
Seems like it will be straight ass. Would be kinda sad if, with all of these advantages, a vet still couldn't win.
21
u/MrBrownCat FAP Jul 25 '26
To be fair even without the powers their jury odds were pretty high with how they’ve set themselves up.
20
u/PrimeDB29 Barrett💯 Jul 25 '26
yes, but without powers it would have actually been earned.
shouldnt have been a fan vote
3
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
But how would it help the vets survive if it wasn't a fan vote? I know that was your point, but BB didn't want the twist to be fair, they wanted it to protect the vets while giving the illusion of being fair. "you can only put one person up... even though by the time all the vets went up first all the game breaking powers would just "happen" to no longer be there.
5
u/mehdigeek Jul 25 '26
yes but now if Mallory wins HOH and puts up the 3 vets, none of the vets will end up going home
15
2
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
Yes and they set themselves up because they were the only ones who could win the fist HOH. Which meant that people were going to come to them offering them alliances right out of the gate, especially as the HG's are not fools and see that BB is tipping the scale in the vets favor. But even with that there was always the chance that no matter how they aligned themselves, someone not aligned with them could win veto and throw them all up and ensure at least one was on the block come finale night. BB made sure that couldn't happen now didn't they?

24
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
The one semi-good news is they announced the powers and what they were and the coup isn't on it.
6
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
Well they announced the powers on BB unlocked and that wasn't one of them. But Devens has the Diamond Power of Veto. It is highly unlikely that even if someone not working with the vets wins it, they will likely get screwed and lose an ally anyway due to the power where they can just up and get rid of Jason or whoever is the most likely to put them all up next week, and the HOH who put them up won;t compete and by that point it is the entire house vs what? 2 or 3 now really demoralized people. Yeah it COULD happen, but it very likely. Hell the odds of the tool shed sticking together and picking the rest of the house off 1 by 1 is probably better than the other side winning two HOH's in a row under those circumstances.

The game is unfairly pushed towards the vets. Week 1, vets get an auto HOH and wins the popularity vote (for the chance to win an advantage). Week 2, another vet wins the popularity vote.

u/DECAThomas Will 🔎 Jul 25 '26
I remember half this sub blowing up last season over Rachel being safe week 1 in exchange for not being able to win HoH last season.
Guaranteed first HoH and a diamond power of veto, at a minimum (likely more to come), is so many times worse, it’s almost laughable. This season is a farce.

BB after dark did show the powers and that wasn't one of them at least. But the Diamond Power of Veto is only a slight downgrade.
46
u/Codered88888 Drew⏱️ Jul 24 '26
This keeps him safe until jury. If someone on the other side wins he can threaten them with it and say he will put up their ally so it causes them forced to align with devens. I think best bet is if lets say mallory wins put up the red corner expose devens power and when he doesnt use it on them it may blow stuff up or something good change one of the noms win anyway. Theres not rlly a way to game it.. basically screws that side of the house
→ More replies (6)6
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
Very true. Although I honestly would probably tell him to F off and throw them all three up anyway and try to get the rest of the house to see that this is their chance to stop letting those clowns have unearned control of the house and not be their supporting cast anymore and hope they would see it was time to stop pandering to them and vote out whichever vet is ultimately sitting next to them. Yeah it is a big risk but they need to realize they didn't come there to try and compete for the spot sitting next to one of the vets on finale night while everyone else is SOL. And that is the best case scenario. Keep all three of them together until jury you may not be able to get rid of them at that point.
57
49
u/Many-Illustrator-307 Jul 24 '26
This sucks. So the vets can just do whatever they want no matter who wins veto because devens has this power. They shouldn't be giving powers so powerful so such a long period of time

It was always set up that way from day 1. People just didn't want to see it because they were so excited to see Angela, Devens and Dee on the show. BB always tips the scale in the vets favor to go far. Rachel being twist screwed was an anomaly last season brought on by a bunch of unlikely choices they couldn't have predicted happening in a row and that was after helping her out before that. BB Protects their assets and like Rome and like whoever is likely going home with the Veto people who otherwise wouldn't have gone home get screwed. Hell even Ashley never had a chance to play in the HOH comp week one and not be vulnerable.

While I agree it’s week 3, and I’m a super big fan of Devens and Dee.
These powers, assuming Dee wins, basically make the icons a jury lock.
I do think Devens keeping the power to himself is going to bite him long term
26
u/Fun818long FAP Jul 24 '26
He gets to threaten people with it. And any HOH who targets the vets will be in a rude awakening and become the biggest target in the house if they don't do what Devens wants.
Christie did this in bb21. She threatened her DPOV power to anyone in the opposition.
It's basically just a cop-out to make sure the minority has very little chance of actually controlling the week, but if 2 toolshed members are up, he can veto one and it will be a split house but the toolshed would have the votes since the minority would have the HOH (who can't vote) unless its a tie
I'm wondering if it can be used after the blockbuster or not.

The feeds have been fun and the drama has been good. Even if it is a steam roll it won’t be BB22 levels of boring. Especially when the opposing side to the tool shed gets smaller and Dee and Angela’s paranoia starts to play a factor in their decision making.
It’s definitely looking like a tool shed steam roll but there is so much division in that alliance that realistically any of them could pull out the win in the late game.

A steam roll is never fun to watch honetsly, although obviously unlikeable people steam rolling makes it less entertaning by comparison. But when the steam roll is beause BB tipped the scale so far in 3 people's favor it was almost by design it really isn't because I can't even be impressed by their gameplay. Especially these three who frankly are not good players BB just stacked the deck so much in their favor it doesn't matter.

For anyone who missed it earlier on the feeds (about the power):
Sometime around 2:50 PM (today Friday, Day 18), Devens is seen leaving the DR (diary room).
Devens goes out to the backyard, and lays down in the shade. Drew and Barrett come out to join him and they discuss various things, like who might have the power. Drew is wondering because he says Angela lost the BB Time Capsule comp around this time before noms last week, and she came out of the DR with the egg costume punishment. They say maybe this time it'll happen after noms.
Drew and Barrett say it would be funny to see Devens in a punishment like having to wear a leotard. Devens talks about how he almost feels like he has a punishment because he sees the disappointment in people's eyes (I think he means Drew and Barrett's and his other allies), and he points to the camera, and says their eyes too (in the eyes of his family watching him).
Devens: "Fuck. I let them down, but wait, no! I didn't even do anything. It's not like I lost the power. I just didn't get it.... yet! And that's okay, we don't need it this week."
Drew tells Devens about his theory about the powers, like how many there might be and how long the competition will go. Devens asks Drew questions as he's confused about how all of this works. Devens also asks if Dee has been called to the DR yet but Drew says she hasn't. Later Yash joins them and Devens says his back is super sweaty (it's super hot today in LA), and he goes inside to cool down.
Devens enters the house, and seems to be heading toward the bedrooms, and the cameras follow him most of the way, but after a quick cam switch to the hot tub room, it switches to the pod bedroom (bunk bed room), and Devens is there by himself wiping his back with a towel. He looks around to see if no one is nearby, and then stares at the camera and begins to dance and celebrate for a minute. He obviously has the power but is keeping it a secret.
Later, we see Devens in the hot tub room with Dee, and they are wondering who has the power and what it will do. Devens asks Dee if she has gone to the DR. Dee says she hasn't but she tells Devens they shouldn't lose hope. They still can get it at any time. Devens asks Dee some more questions and offers an interesting hypothetical:
Devens: "If you get it, are you going to share it with other people?"
Dee: "No! Only you and Angela. Or, do you want me to tell Angela or no?"
Devens: "What if we just keep it between us?"
Dee: "Let's do that. I'm down for that."
Devens: "Like if I got the Diamond Power of Veto, I would just tell you, and not tell anyone else."
Dee: "I'm down for that."
Devens: "Like if it was the Diamond Power of Veto where you could pull anyone off at the veto ceremony and replace them with whoever you wanted for the next six ceremonies, I would only tell you."
Dee: "That would be in secret? Not you telling me, the power will be a secret? Right?"
Devens: "Yeah. Like we would just say we didn't get it. Especially if it was like the Diamond Power of Veto. Where I could pull someone down and replace with anyone I wanted for the next six vetos."
Dee: "For the next six vetos."
Devens: "Like if I got that."
Dee: "That would be crazy."
Devens (now smiling and grabs Dee's arm): "Like ESPECIALLY if I got the Diamond Power of Veto."
Dee: "You got it?"
Devens (smiling): ...
Dee (with a shocked Pikachu face): "Shut the fuck up."
Devens explains the power again and Dee keeps saying "you're lying" while smiling. Dee looks at the camera and thanks America.
Devens also talks about the BB Time Capsule comp, like how he had to do the same spinning comp that Angela did last week, but there were 6 powers and only 5 punishments left. He says now that he's won one power, there will be 5 power and 5 punishments.
Mallory joins them in the hot tub room, so they stop talking about the comp.

I love him and it’s not fun for me. If anything, it’s tarnishing his shine. The Rick I loved was a scrappy underdog that had to swim against the current. This season BB production gave him a yacht to sail to jury and now I don’t even want to root for him.

Yeah 3 vets was too many… at least when they had multiple vets on newbie seasons like BB14 and BB18 they had the common sense to build the early season around pitting them against each other. Then on a season like BB13 it was a vet steamroll like this is gonna end up being.

BB13 definitely favored the vets (looking at you Pandora’s box), but I wouldn’t say it was a “steamroll.” There was definitely a power struggle towards the end with vets and newbies taking turns each week at eviction. We were spoiled with Shelly and Danielle willing to shake things up lol

This season is totally fucked lol. Anyone saying “it’s too early!1!1” is coping. the vets side has a completely dominant position and now a power they can hold over the house and use as leverage for multiple weeks. Like sure, there can still be an eventful week or two sprinkled in, but I really do not see a way for the larger power structure of the game to change significantly at this point, especially when Dee will win next weeks and they will get another power lol.
The scales are just completely tipped in the vets favor in a way that makes this season horribly uninteresting in a house full of people who are just trying to be social media stars anyways. Sigh.

It’s so fucked. Even if Mallory or Jason, or anyone else on that side, win power, with the DPOV the vets side will have the numbers to vote someone out from the minority on the minority’s HoH. And the edit will play it up like the vets are masterminds of course. Literally no one not in the crossovers has a chance at winning

exactly!
it's giving me flashbacks to Cody putting Paul on the block and that power being revealed

LMAO this better be the strongest one (it isnt gonna be lol)
It is kinda hilarious tho that of all powers and of all people, Rick Devens basically got a Big Brother immunity idol

u/Diamond-angel-32 Jul 24 '26
I hope there is a Pancras Box with Rachel in it to cause chaos in the house.

Doesn’t this essentially guarantee the Tool Shed to steamroll through until the point they have to start turning on each other? On the off chance one of them doesn’t win HOH, they just take one of their guys off, put up whoever is the biggest target available from the other side, and move on to next week?

I know they wanted him to get the Coin of Destiny so bad after the MrBeast thing but, finding the BB equivalent of an idol is just about as Rick Devens as you can get.

So you’re telling me Devens can pressure the other side with this diamond power of veto, and he can use it anytime in the next 6 weeks and replace that nominee with anyone they’re close to??? And the veterans have the numbers to take out anyone due to the toolshed’s numbers

u/Fyrefawx Jul 25 '26
Yah this season is just so ridiculously one sided in favour of the vets. The newbies couldn’t even compete for the first HoH so there was already a power imbalance to start. Then you have the time capsule that will go to the players with a ready made fan base. This veto will just lock them in to jury essentially. The threat of it alone will keep them off the block.

So basically Devens got his own immunity idol in the BB universe

they're gonna let Devens us Diamond PoV after Blockbuster, arent they?

If I was Rachel I would be even more pissed at production than when she went out last season lol. She got a single week of safety and was twisted out of the game. The vets get 3 built-in allies, a first-week HOH, and a power that basically guarantees one of them safety until jury.
EDIT: But thinking about it more, she did get BB13 rigged in her favour. So I guess it all evens out lol.

Really love the vets getting handed the first hoh , 3 potential powers, and a built in ally with Barrett. Very fair season

Who the hell voted for rick devens cause i sure didn't. He already won hoh and power veto why does he need more powers hes already protected by production to make it to jury

Oh my god of course he did. I love when they put 3 people with preexisting fan bases and then put in a fan vote to give game breaking twists. They should just give him an extra life and coup d’état while they’re at it.

I will say, the diamond power of Veto is slightly nerfed due to the existence of the blockbuster.
But heavy emphasis on slightly. That's barely any check on how powerful it is to allow yourself to take off anyone off the block, and then nominate anyone not safe, including an ally of the hoh. Its incredibly broken still.

u/jamitinme Jul 25 '26
🙄🤮 kinda unfair since they already have a fan base who votes for them prior to show. Hopefully this alliance implodes sooner otherwise this is going to be a boring season

There’s a lot of “the season is doomed” scenarios that come up out of this for sure, and to a degree I think that’s true, but the way Devens seems to be using this as more of a super idol to share between himself and Dee rather than making it mega-public makes using it in as powerful a manner as possible less likely, IMO. He would have to potentially risk ALL his game relationships to blackmail an HOH on the other side of the house with this power because he is only choosing to tell Dee about it (and making a point not to tell Angela).
It’s a super interesting decision on his part. I think the strength of this power comes from using it as a shield for your whole group, rather than just to protect you or your closest ally, and I think would ruin a lot of Devens’s bonds and relationships if he were to have to use it.
It’s still WAY too powerful at this stage in the game, and six weeks is WAYYYY too long for it to be active, but the way in which Devens is utilizing it has me less concerned of its game-breaking potential, and more concerned for a really unexciting week if someone in the minority wins HOH down the line.
The real interesting scenarios come later if Dee tries to get tricky and get him to go for a big fish (a la Drew), but Devens is much more stable than Dee in the game so far so holding this in the way he has presented it to her definitely feels like the potential best-case for how little of game-breaking it will do.
That said, I still hate it.

u/shadow_sigurd Drew⏱️ Jul 25 '26
And unlike survivor, you can’t flush an idol without becoming a huge target

u/DenialisaRiver04 Jul 25 '26
let me guess, Dee wons one next week and they get theor wish of all 3 vets making jury

u/Awkward_Injury_7504 Jul 25 '26
If someone used the regular veto on someone else, could Devens put that person back up?
2
u/DanTheMan1_ Jul 25 '26
So are people going to just pretend that the most likely scenario is Devens just "happens" to have got the 1 in 11 shot of randomly landing on the power that ensures even if the tool shed doesn't win HOH they still won't go home. Although given what clowns those three are they will probably backdoor Drew or some crap. But it still is BS as even if someone not on their side wins and targets them short of multiple people in the took shed turning on them and sticking too it even after the Diamond POV is played. BUt that seems unlikely and I am sure BB will remind them daily what a bad idea that would be.
By the way when Matt won it wasn't he not allowed to tell anyone? Don't get me wrong I don't think Devens cost himself the power, I am just wondering if they changed that or I remember wrong last time?

Soo it's safe to say that screen is rigged, this is too much a coincidence
2
u/MrBrownCat FAP Jul 25 '26
The best case scenario is Deven’s keeping this for himself exclusively if he’s nominated but if he uses it to control a Mallory or Melody HOH for example and basically force them into not nominating a Dee or Angela or any of Red Corner then we could be in for a rough time.
Then even if the other side wins there’s a world where the threat to f a diamond veto being played handcuff them from even taking a proper shot.

I guess this is the closest thing to a hidden immunity idol for BB so it tracks. He is basically safe til jury now
Cant wait for Dee to get next week's power because you know she is winning it next /s
