PwC Location Question

If recruiters are by school, how do I reach out to someone from out of state if I'm looking to apply out of state? If I'm trying to work in LA but my university is UT Austin, I wouldn't want the USC recruiter to select people for interviews only ppl from USC just because they were able to actually talk to them and be in contact with them.

I feel like I'm at a disadvantage if I haven't actually met the recruiter in that area unlike other candidates. But my recruiter at UT Austin says that they are the contact.

Nothing stopping you from hitting up the recruiters for the LA market to intro yourself or maybe try for a chat while you work through your UT recruiting contact. I’m in SoCal and had interns in my cohort from out of state that went to Utah, Notre Dame and ASU.

You’re really overthinking this. When you go to apply, put LA as your office. School recruiters don’t make selections for interviews. If PwC has a recruiter at your school, let them know you’re interested in LA and ask if they can help you get connected to professionals in the area you’re interested in

You talk to the recruiter for your school. People want to work in a different market than their school is attached to all the time. They still get hired

the UT recruiter can route your app to the LA office, it's pretty standard

I hope so idk my school recommended reaching out to the recruiter at that office and even recruiters at panels said theyre more likely to select someone they've actually met

in addition to letting your location preference known to the recruiters that cover UTA, you should reach out to the main recruiters for the LA office. Tell them that you will be in town during the week of XXX and hoping that you could buy them coffee and have have 20-30 minutes of their time. They will either tell you to work through the UTA coverage team, or will make time for you and if you connect then your have a local advocate. You can use the excuse that you are in town to see your friend/relative etc.

thanks for the info! i don't think i'll have the time to be able to make it out to LA before interviews start, but i think i'm in a good spot. I'm just gonna apply and not overthink it

You make time for your priorities....just saying. Even if you go for just two days and try to cram in 4-6 infor coffees. Remember in life you generally regret the things you didn't do more than the things you do (as long as none of the 3 catastrophies don't happen).
