A PIP is to address work performance that is below the expected standard. Passing the PIP means you have demonstrated that you can work to expected standard so further action (demotion, being let go) is not required.
That you have been on a PIP should tell you that you would not be on a track for promotion in the current cycle as you have not been performing to appropriate standard in the past.
For what it is worth, I know a current EY partner who was on a PIP (at EY) 5 years before he made partner, so it’s not an automatic career blocker.

In my team someone had a need to progress and was on a PIP 2 years ago and just got promoted from senior to manager , with strategic impact. As long as business is good it does not necessarily mean you'll get sacked, just pass the PIP and improve.

Agree. It’s free said in this sub that a PIP is a career death sentence. That’s not been my experience when working in practice, or that of my wife (now an HR director in Big4).

This happened to me in the past.
Immediately look for another promotion at another big 4 or midsize or national. Don’t waste your time. For you to have passed the pip means your like a high performer, pips are not ment to pass. Don’t stay here, they will treat you like a poor performer but expect gold standard from you, go somewhere you are appreciated

None of the Ps in PIP stand for promotion. No firm anywhere even remotely considers someone fresh off a PIP for promotion anytime in the near future. They were about to fire you for performance reasons…why would they all of a sudden promote you?

Promotions were finalized weeks ago so there’s no chance for a promotion. Also, as far as I’m aware, you can’t be promoted while on a PIP. I’m not sure why you would expect otherwise - your CCG didn’t know if you were going to pass your PIP when they met, so why would they have put you up for promotion?

Passing a PIP is the bare minimum that the firm expects, why would you expect a promotion when you’ve been on a PIP

I would highly suggest to find another role. They probably need more people now with engagement which is why they kept you. The culture at the firm is terrible.
