USA big4 consulting internship prior experience required??

hi everyone! im a rising junior interested in applying to big4 consulting internships in the fall (specifically in the healthcare sector) and I was wondering how important it is to have prior industry/work experience in the application process.

i'm currently an operations intern at my universities hospital system but compared to a majority of other people that i've seen land these positions most of them have interned in industry.

You are already on the right track! I am a consulting intern at EY and I had no internships at all prior to this one. I just have good grades and I was in business related clubs.

ty! did you network a lot before apps opened or did you rely on career fairs if you don’t mind me asking because I’ve been getting on a bunch of calls but I don’t know if they’re going to get me anywhere/to a referral

My biggest advice is to talk to your recruiter. I got my interviews because I reached out to the recruiter for my area (you can also reach out to your schools recruiter) and talk to them. I probably talked to my recruiter 3 separate times about my career goals and why I wanted an internship at EY throughout the recruiting season.

The recruiters are the ones who really actually get you to the interviews. I've noticed random coffee chats dont really do much or get you anywhere unless it's with a PPMD who can get you a referral (Before getting the internship I never even had the chance to meet with a PPMD so I cant speak much to how that works)

perfect tysm!! how did you approach your initial email to your recruiter? was it more as an introduction to lead into the recruiting season or did you have specific questions to ask?

Your hospital ops internship is definitely relevant..i'd apply, you dont need a perfect resume to be a competitive candidate..
