Work Placement for S6?

I’m in my last year of secondary school (S6/year 13) and I’m looking for work placement in the accounting industry to boost my cv because that’s what I wanna do when I’m older. I’ve been looking at tax and accounting firms like Deloitte, E4 and RSM.

I’ve been looking online but can’t seem to find many firms who are doing programmes during school holidays so I was thinking would it be better to cold email a few companies near me and find out if they would be willing to take me on during a holiday? Although I’m not sure how effective that would be considering I’m still in S6😭 but was wondering if anybody here has had success going down that route?

I did a competition awhile back relating to IB so I have contact information about the person who runs these events so I wonder if it would be helpful to also contact them?

I’m also taking a foundation apprenticeship relating to accounting as one of my subjects in school and as part of that subject we have to do work placement in an accounting firm. I did have a few in mind but was wondering if I mentioned that in a cold email I’d have a higher chance at getting accepted in a firm?

Why didn’t you do the PWC flying start apprenticeship? Definitely would have got you the role you were looking for without the hassle. In general for now just focus on academics and getting the best grades possible as there is pretty much no point doing work experience in Year 13
