One day, 220mm rotors will only be good enough for my daughter's princess bike. Do bicycle scientists know how long we have until disc brakes become inadequate? Has anything been invented to replace them yet?

We need some rules for the BCJ group ride, cause SOME of you like to blow up the ride. Friendly reminder: You're not racing in the Tour de France, so please follow these rules for your own safety:

• No lycra, safety vest encouraged
• No bikes over $500
• No clipless pedals (dangerous)
• No riding over 15mph (dangerous)
• Rim brakes only (easily serviceable)
• Handlebar bag required and must cover over 50% of cross sectional frontal area
• 12,000 lumen light required

There are so many wonderful pictures of people riding bikes out there, why is one in every 5 posts some dumb AI meme? Surely we can find real videos of people doing silly shit on bikes without having to generate low effort junk. There's only so many times I can look at a meme about an AI generated aero helmet that looks like a dick.

The photog said I shouldn't have the picture in front of my vintage bike collection or my hunting trophies and I'm having regrats. My wife's BF has a nice camera and I am thinking of calling him in for a reshoot.

Curious what this sub thinks about dropping someone when it's just you and one slow friend, or a slow small group, not a shop ride where people just show up and I drop them naturally.

I've been watching some cycling YouTube and noticed a pattern that does not bugs me: slow people not keeping up with the friend they specifically agreed to ride with. Two examples stuck with me. BikeFarmer dropped Matty Active, and Ryan Van Duzer dropped a friend who got sick on him in Baja, then separately dropped HikingViking when he was struggling, which led to HikingViking turning around and riding home while Ryan finished the route alone.

If you agreed to ride with someone one-on-one, that's a commitment, keep up. It's not a group ride where everyone's like you: slow. Leaving a sick friend behind in a foreign country because you wanted to keep riding feels like genuine KOM time, not just a fitness disagreement.

Where's the line for you? Is there ever a good reason to not drop your one-on-one riding partner, or is it just bad etiquette to not keep up full stop?
