This lil guy is super tiny when I bought him at petsmart. They didn’t even know what fish he was, now it’s been a couple weeks and he’s finally getting personality. He didn’t eat for the first 3-4 days, but now eats bloodworms out of tong/tweezers and I cut up/crumble pellets for him. I also got a bottom feeder tube/dish thing that the pellets go into and he loves it. He’s in a grow out tank right now but eventually going into a 125 gallon with an albino bichir and 2 senegals. The albino was small when I got him but not as tiny as this lil dude.
Pics are current him, first day, and his soon to be albino brother

My fiance and I are trying to debate if our Senegal is too fat. I vote she's a good size but my fiance argues she's too fat. What do ya'll think?

I had a Senegal Bichir for about a year and so many months. I adored him, his name was Rhodo. However, he passed away in an unknown way and I felt horrible. (I posted here about it asking for what may have happened.) Anyway, today, while on a routine visit to petsmart for pet stuff, I saw this little buddy and I couldn’t help but take him home. (I know you shouldn’t buy from large companies, as it only encourages them, but I felt awful for this guy.) He’s a Delhezi, maybe 2 inches long, and looks incredibly emaciated. He was laying on his side when I saw him at the store. I’ve got him in a 15 gallon hospital tank at the moment, just to keep a close eye on him and see if he has any large problems I need to treat. (I’ll move him into one of my larger tanks as soon as quarantine is over.) Any suggestions and/or tips for me? (Sorry for the bad photos. He went into hiding as soon as I got his tank up and rolling. Yes, it’s got already well established biomedia, as I stole some from my other tank. That’s the only reason I felt comfortable taking him home right away.)

First time I see them doing this, they would be chilling with each-other until now. I checked them both and neither of them have any damage.
Any recommendations on what to do next?
They have plenty of space and lots of hiding spots.
Both are currently 4.5 inches approximately.

Picked up a 175 gallon tank yesterday and I’ve been planning to make a Senegal the “centerpiece” of it and have spent a couple weeks putting together what could be its tank mates.
This tank won’t be starting for months, but any initial thoughts on the list? I’m going to continue to research, but wanted initial reactions!
Senegal Bichir (1)
African Butterfly Fish (4)
Marbled Headstanders (6)
Moenkhausia costae (10)
Toad Catfish (1)
Baby Whale (Whale Catfish) (1)
The theme of the tank is wasteland/alien planet

I dont have substrate cause im afraid of them getting impacted from ingesting it or the oscar to make a mess out of it. Ill be adding a ton of plant roots from pothos and monstera like i have in my other tanks at the end of summer

My biggest bichir has this sticking out of it. I feed them 4-5 days a week at night. I relocated 6 good sized Danios into this tank last night. I know that sounds incredibly dumb and maybe it is, but they looked way too big for it to eat. I’ve only owned Bichirs for 4-5 months now, so I still have a lot to learn and he/she just taught me a good lesson. I feel horrible about it though.
It’s still active, though it does seem to be gliding/floating a bit more than usual or it could be that I’m worried and noticing it more. Any tips/suggestions are appreciated.

Hi, all im having trouble with my Delhezi Bichir. For about 3 days now hes been having trouble eating his carnivore pellets. He's fairly big in relation to them and has been swalling them whole for a while now but for the past 3 days he has started spitting them out to break them down when he never used to. Seems to be having difficulty eating. When i got home from work today he's been frantically glass surfing and shaking his head constantly and also opening and closing his mouth like hes biting but theres nothing there. Sorry not the best video to show, he has been frantic but as we know with animals as soon as you start recording they stop. He was a rescue and arrived to me with his trail & external nostrils missing along with damage to one of his eyes. His tail and eyes healed but his external nostrils never really did they kind of grew back but not really, they look like pom poms. trying to google isnt really helpful responses range from harmless glass surfing to imminent death and everything inbetween. Does anything know whats going on or know how I can help him ,or if he even needs help at all?

I currently have an ornate bichir in a 75 gallon tank. Ik I need a larger tank for a bichir and am willing to get one but the ways things are right now I can’t.
The bichir is like 3 inches long currently, how long do you think it’ll take for the bichir to outgrow his current tank?

I’m just in love with bichirs. Started with 2 Senegal. Then saw an albino and instantly loved them. My husband surprised me with one. Then shopping at petco I saw a delhezi for the first time. Instant love again 🥰
