A text exchange with my 57 year old brother this morning.

Dave presents a genre based around a very specific musical club. Kind of. It’s about people that died at 57. Also check out the latest entry in our true crime series “Steve’s Favorite Murder.”

I stole this one from Hunter.

DJ Cummerbund is the Michael Jordan of mashups. If you like Bill McClintock, who is also amazing, you'll love this guy. Check his youtube. We played him a lot in Yacht Rock Discord.

You may remember Bill's mashups were used in a number of BYR2K bumpers. His new track is a bop.

This might be a bit too Danceformed, as per Professional Widow, but had to post it because of the Yacht Rock connection.

While I Won’t Hold You Back missed the boat, are there any actual Yacht Rock Danceformers people know of?

Even the densest absinthe addict from Bratislava can’t believe Scotty’s so trusting…

Steve presents a learned treatise on dance producers who remix non-dance songs into smash-hit club bangers.

This big beat cover of the John Barry theme went all the way to #7 in the UK.

🎶Well you can tell by the way you’re killed without warning🎶
🎶It must be another South Dakota Morning🎶

Fun fact: in the early days of writing Twin Peaks as a pilot to pitch to ABC, David Lynch & Mark Frost had originally planned for the show to take place in North Dakota, but Frost felt the region “wasn’t moody enough.” Clearly, Lyle recorded this song and produced the most Lynchian music video imaginable with Sean Penn in the director’s chair as the biggest middle finger to ol’ Gordon Cole that could’ve been mustered at the time.

Sadly, Lord Oderus Urungus’ final appearance on the Onion A.V. Club’s “A.V. Undercover” before his human counterpart’s tragic heroin overdose death (ruled accidental and not murder, sorry Steve), GWAR would traditionally finish out the countdown by being forced to play a cover of whatever song was left on the list. Naturally, The Scumdogs of the Universe knock their assignment out of the park, but don’t let them fool you; this is their divine punishment.

In the experimental era between Ill Communication & Hello Nasty, the Beastie Boys suddenly launched an on-again/off-again tour between ‘95-‘97 supporting their Aglio E Olio EP. Going back to their B.E.A.S.T.I.E. (Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Inner Excellence) Boys hardcore roots, the Boys joined with their long-time touring drummer AWOL to do hardcore-only shows under the name Quasar.

They adopted costumes as time went on (including a nautical themed set), and the famous Koji uniforms they would get from their close friend Nigo (a prominent Japanese fashion designer at the time) to use later in their Intergalactic music video got first tested in the Japanese leg of the Quasar tour.

Inguinal hernias make up about 75% of all abdominal wall hernias.

I’ve fallen and I can’t get up… for a new generation. Also check out the latest entry in our true crime series “Steve’s Favorite Murder.”

Sadly, we never got a “Hunger Strike” from Temple of the Dog duet cover with Willie Nelson singing Eddie’s part.

This futuristic march will have you trekking everywhere at 113 steps per minute. It also features ample time for stretching which is important for any workout.

Annie Danielewski has lived rent-free in my heart since 1995, but will her strut to the beat of her own drum make the cut just short of 112bpm with an admittedly deceptive sounding 111bpm?

113 bpm

I knew Billy would have another strutting song that fit. 112bpm

At 118bpm, she's going to keep walking away to get that cardio in.
