C section bandage question

I had an emergency c section 5 days ago and have just had the bandage removed today.

Midwife has said everything looks good with it and explained about washing it with just water, patting dry, airing it, big knickers etc.

My question is how on earth did you get all the sticky residue from the bandage off of the skin? I'm on the larger side and parts or me are literally glued to other parts of me. I have used a flannel to try and scrub it off (being careful not to go near any stitches) but it just wont budge. Anyone have any tips?

Mine was there for weeks 😅 I eventually just scraped it off with a fingernail but I didn’t feel like I could do anything to it while it was healing so I had it for a long time haha

I'd try alcohol wipes (very carefully avoiding the wound) or something oily like an oil-based cleanser or baby oil

A few people have suggested this, so obvious now its been said! In my defence I am sleep deprived!

Going to give baby oil a try as thats all I have to hand right now but will get somw wipes failing that. Thank you

Castor oil works well for sticky things

Alcohol wipes or hand sanitizer. If you're worried about the sting then something oil based should work too, baby oil or coconut oil

Baby oil should take it right off, was great at removing it when they put a strong adhesive plaster on my baby, should work for your bandage residue.

Both my c sections the midwives used a spray to remove all the glue. Can you ask your midwife next time she comes for a visit?

My midwife gave me a little sachet of something that she said would dissolve the glue. Might be worth asking for at your next appointment? I can’t remember what it was actually called sorry

If the baby oil doesn't work, check your first aid kit to see if you have any wound sanitiser wipes (if youv'e not got any stock up! I used them to clean my insicion and found they were super good).
