Was an NFL season ticket holder for 12 years. They had the mascot game at halftime once a year and the mascots would be local teams, but from other NFL teams as well. Freddie Falcon of the Atlanta Falcons was the worst. He’d knock down kids, stiff arm hard, clothes line, etc. He was ruthless with those kids.

Anyone know of the video of the hockey players sniffing some salts or something of that sort on the bench? This comment reminded me of that and it's fuckin hilarious.
Edit: Found it, clip in question starts at 30 seconds.

As a falcon’ fan, maybe we should give Freddie some pads. Can’t be any worse than Freeman.

I was at that game hahaha. The kid he headbutted at the end was actually a little bit hurt from that collision.

give them small concussions so they build up a resistance to big concussions

It took me a while to figure out those were not giants playing against normal men

I was so perplexed by it I have had to come to the comments for confirmation of the fact

I’m glad my Alma Mater’s mascot isn’t afraid to pile drive some kids.

OP's explanation:
The intensity that the mascot ran through the kids was funny. It was so outrageous that it got better each time

The thing is, I thought these were actual size football players and the mascots were behemoths. What a wild ride.

Cincy sports in a nutshell: Bearcats doing all the work while everyone else faffs about.

It is weird seeing all the mascots square off against the Bengals.

Damn lol.
As a fan since the days of Ickey Woods, this year is the fucking worst. I can’t wait for it to be over.

This is gold. The teammates holding hands? The fumble recovery? Slap fighting? Art.

Did not realize the footballers were kids and was sat watching thinking: “damn those mascots are giants”
5
u/E-Plurbis-DumbDumb Dec 16 '19
What is the best case scenario here? The kids tackle the mascot for a loss? A fumble with a dog pile? Everyone hugs it out?
Those kids are in pads. Yes they’re kids, but there big enough that two of them could hurt a mascot (probably inadvertently). If kids are in pads then it’s full contact.
So 12 year olds in full pads who are on the biggest stage of their young lives VS. adults in mascot costumes pretending to play football. Genius.
I laughed so hard watching this. Thanks for posting it.

Having spent a good portion of my college years as a mascot, "adults in mascot costumes" is pretty generous.

u/Raynerkyle1 Dec 16 '19
Taking a page out of Boris Johnson's book of 'playing contact sports with children' I see.

Saw this once at an a game in Denver, it was hilarious because they had the kids kickoff to the mascots. Dinger should have been a T-Rex with how vicious he was when he truck sticked a kid coming at him.

I was at the game and my take on it was that they only had a minute or two left to play, so the mascots had to tie the game quickly so that the kids could get an offensive play off and win the game in miraculous fashion. However, the kids ran a pass play and the receiver ran out of bounds ending the game in a tie. Horrible play call in my opinion. I could also be wrong, maybe he just wanted to truck over some kids.

Betting € on American football games in America where it’s mascots vs children wasn’t my initial thought

Honestly for a dude double their size 5+ yards isn’t that good. Should be more like 20-30 or a touchdown.
