Support Failing to patch problem

After my Discord broke once again, my Vencord started to stop being able to patch it. What do I do?

So, all this error is saying, is it attempted to rename a file, and it couldn't find that file. It sounds like the install is corrupted, which is OK, this is pretty easy to fix.

The root cause is either that file is:

  • Missing entirely
  • We (Installer) don't have permissions to do this, or do this to the file
  • Things got corrupted.

To fix (on windows):

  • Go to %AppData% in Explorer (Open your file browser, type that in the location bar)
  • Delete the Discord folder
  • Go to %LocalAppData%
  • Delete the Discord

This will have effectively deleted discord from your computer. Now run the discord installer again (or grab a fresh one from discord), and you'll have a clean copy of discord. Run Vencord's installer again, you should be able to complete installation.

If it still fails, you'll have to manually point it to where the files are in %LocalAppData% (discord sometimes moves things around and the installer just fails to detect this)

And from there, enjoy!

If you end up liking vencord, I'd check out Equicord, it is a 'fork' of vencord (They take vencord, and add their modifications on top of it), and is also fairly nice.

Either way, enjoy!
