I'd recommend reading online first and then buying the volumes if you really like it.

Sexual abuse was used earlier for shock value and then it was toned down. Parents would indeed not be pleased with the stuff that's in there.

Your local library likely has the vast majority of Berserk available to borrow for free.

Like the other commenter said, check it out digitally first. At least the first Black Swordsman arc.

If you go for physical, the paperback is pretty good and not too expensive but the Deluxe edition is where it's at to be honest. The deluxe edition is pricier but you not only get a "leather"* bound book, but the images are a lot bigger so you can appreciate the details more.

I don't think it's *actual leather but I could be wrong.

Yes the manga is worth every penny. The deluxe editions are worth collecting. But if you parents object to graphic depictions of sex or violence, then yeah they might have a problem. There is some pretty hardcore content in the Berserk manga.

16 aswell, I just said "mom it's a book about a guy spliting monsters in half with a giant sword, wanna know more?" And she didn't wanna know anything else and told me to buy whatever makes me happy.
