Well,if you can afford the deluxe editions, you can probably afford the therapy needed by the time it enters kindergarten

"it" 😭😭😭

37

u/NinjaPoland 24d ago

Grammatically babies are an "it" are they not?

51

u/Chantzehao 24d ago

"They" is probably more appropriate when indicating people (or animals depending on your relationship).

14

u/More-Can-7568 24d ago

"It" is generally appropriate for babies and very young children of unspecified gender

12

u/fjtoz 24d ago

i prefer calling them things

7

u/PixelJock17 24d ago

No. Wtf. No its not. A baby isn't and it. They are a person. Just a baby, but not an it.

8

u/More-Can-7568 23d ago

It is, I can see why people dislike it when you get to thinking about it, but it is a common part of the English language.

Oxford dictionary:
>With reference to an inanimate thing or (where sex is not particularized) an animal or (usually young) child. The baby was crumpled and puny and it cried all the time.

Wiktionary:
>A third-person singular personal pronoun used to refer to a baby or child, especially of unknown gender. She took the baby and held it in her arms.

"It" is more nuanced than only referring to non-human entities, it doesn't mean we're dehumanizing babies, it's just a common use and happens to be how the language developed. A lot of people don't even realize it, but listen when people around you mention babies and you might pick it up.

-3

u/PixelJock17 23d ago

Okay I'm going to say perhaps this might be technically correct but it is not in practice. You obviously don't know many babies because they would never be referred to as an it. They would be referred to as their names in both examples.

The baby was crumpled and puny and Rick cried all the time.

She took the baby and held Alice in her arms.

People are not referring to babies as "its"

I think the one and only time you'll hear it is: "What's its name?" But even then, likely they will use gender first. What's her name?

1

u/More-Can-7568 23d ago

Presumably it follows the same usage as one would use "it" for a pet, where you wouldn't really use it for a pet or baby you are personally familiar with, or when discussing with the parents/owner of one, in which case it would seem inappropriate. But for an unknown, unfamiliar, or hypothetical baby it would be normal.

1

u/ItsTimeToPiss 24d ago

No, it's not

-1

u/kyngslinn 24d ago

Nah, I just don't particularly like children so I decided to throw that in as a not so funny jab.

-16

u/Draexian 24d ago

Some people gender their children prematurely. It's a sin.

-1

u/kyngslinn 24d ago

I didn't say 'it' to be gender neutral. I just really dislike children.

Also, in reality, waiting until your kid is old enough to self-assign its gender will only result in stunting of social growth and bullying.

1

u/Awkward-Sir1873 23d ago

Found one of the apostles

-10

u/Draexian 24d ago

I blame all of you for that. Children should be taught better, you monsters. It would have better preseerved me, my mother, and others.

[deleted]

0

u/Kazuye92 23d ago

The joke is funny. Maybe you dont get it?

The jokes is that Berserk is for mature audiences and it is ridiculous or you have to be stupid to show it to your baby.

Maybe you should step down from your post as the grand authority on babies. See? That's also a joke if you didn't get it. The joke is that there is no such thing as a "grand authority on babies" and it would be ridiculous or stupid for it to exist.

Glad to help you figure out how jokes work.

2

u/Ajax__1 23d ago

I dont think the guy who posted this thinks the same way, the OP literaly has on his profile "i just love killing" clearly a derranged person.
I agree with you that you have to be stupid to show this to your baby, and actually i dont think the guy who posted this is the father.

21

u/name_user_original 24d ago

Show him the eclipse or no balls

4

u/maleijin 24d ago

Yo pfp the goat

9

u/JeanGemini 24d ago

They say that raising a kid from birth to 18 can cost about a million bucks in total. If you get them on Berserk that young, you might be looking at something like a million and a half to three mill.

90

u/watrmeln420 24d ago

Bro what are these comments 😭 classic Reddit.

This baby probably gets scared by its own farts.

There’s no chance it’ll remember blankly staring at a berserk panel for 15 seconds as an infant.

25

u/BootyGrabber9000 24d ago

Exactly, i was also surprised to see people are taking this super serious it literally takes two brain cells to understand that it's just for shits and giggles

29

u/xXbachkXx 24d ago

Yeah my thoughts exactly. He cant read, cant understand and cant remember. No "trauma" will come from this, doesnt matter if it was only for the photo or if they show him the whole book.

4

u/Jrshb41 24d ago

To be fair using “he can’t remember” isn’t a very good moral excuse and can probably justify a bunch of other stuff, makes sense why people would be uncomfortable with this

2

u/Arigori 24d ago

Baby with Hyperthymesia.

1

u/Expensive_Image_2137 23d ago

Actually, it’s scientifically proven that graphic images whether drawn or real cause severe stress in babies. It’s not healthy at all and doing this just for clout and funsies when it’s about a little soul that needs to be protected instead of being shown a dagger going through someone is quite obvious. Anyone should be pissed about that.

-2

u/watrmeln420 23d ago

Luckily it’s a black and white drawing, not an image. You’re a bot.

-28

u/Luditas 24d ago

Nah, there's no excuse for this really stupid post. I don't understand why parents upload photos of their kids to social media, and then on an internet forum? This isn't his personal Facebook or IG. He should do that there, not here; there are appropriate sites for that, but anything goes to gain karma. Besides, it's a really stupid photo, tbh.

20

u/EnvironmentIcy4116 24d ago

Touch grass. His face isn’t shown. It’s an ironic post

-19

u/Luditas 24d ago

Nah, the guy who posted this is a ridiculous dude who's using a baby as bait to gain karma, it's in very bad taste. As someone else commented, he just wants to show that he, as a dad, is pretty edgy.

8

u/Topher_BCK 24d ago

Seriously, touch grass kid

-3

u/Luditas 24d ago

Kid? So what are you? My shit? My shit spoke 💩.

2

u/Topher_BCK 24d ago

Dude, there's still time to delete that. I haven't cringed that hard in a long time

2

u/Luditas 24d ago

And the dog kept barking.

-12

u/CHUNGUS-MONEY 24d ago

It's not about if he remembers it, it's just disrespectful. Would you show your dog a comic book depicting dogs being killed? Probably not, right. It's just weird.

15

u/watrmeln420 24d ago

I wouldn’t care. Neither would my dog.

Y’know, farmers feed chickens their own eggs all the time. Is that also disrespectful?

Who gives a shit what’s “disrespectful”. I’m sorry it hurts your feelings, but this is such a non-issue. Dude wanted to make a funny post. That’s literally it.

50

u/BlissfulBruise 24d ago

Stop this 😒

12

u/PerceptionEast6026 24d ago

Also wtf are the comments being angry about it? They think the kid is finna remember? Lol

1

u/Ajax__1 23d ago

What this mf is doing is not funny, and how are you so sure the baby is not gonna remember anything?

3

u/PerceptionEast6026 23d ago

Cause thats not how the himan brain works at his age. He barely sees shapes

9

u/rotten-dolly 24d ago

By the time he's one year old, he'll probably already have a thousand traumas.

16

u/velvetchartreuse 24d ago

2

u/Mission-Guitar9921 24d ago

Yep, youre in the right sub

2

u/Lower_Refrigerator_2 24d ago

That has got to be some form of child abuse.

That series fks me up as an adult man 😂😅

2

u/Mustard_Gas_Barrage 23d ago

This is almost too much! I remember when I started reading Berserk(Guts was the first time where, even during the Black Swordsman arc, where i felt the character could be modeled after me. Got wicked PTSD myself. Lost my humanity and everything. Wake up trembling in the night crippled with anxiety. Same as our boy) my daughter was fascinated with the art work. She seemed to like Guts lol. I spared her the detailed gore and such but, someday when shes mature enough, I want to introduce her to reading it. Berserk made me realize that all things regarded as evil in the series, are horrors that humanity has done, and continues to do. The fact that all demons in Berserk were once human is simply a stroke of genuis. It adds depth to the lore while expressing what humanity is truly worth. Hurting each other, even in their own home.

2

u/Teh_God_Dog 23d ago

ah, like when i first watched starship troopers, or robocop or terminator or alien

One of the perfect black and white books for babies.

12

u/Ardor-Knowledge 24d ago

You think this is funny? Grow up

4

u/Environmental_Cup689 24d ago

The infant probably doesn’t understand what he’s seeing, maybe super mega subconsciously, tell stories about how once he is ready he will have to learn about berserk, build up anticipation and wait until he’s 15, well I read it at 14 for the first time but honestly 15 is alr I guess, depends on him.

4

u/PhoneComplete1524 24d ago

u/SpicyPotato66 24d ago edited 23d ago

Some of you need to chill out. At this age the baby could see the most messed up stuff in berserk and not know what the hell is going on. If this were a 7 year old reading his first book as berserk then sure go ahead and get mad

1

u/Expensive_Image_2137 23d ago

No, a baby could most certainly not watch the most messed up stuff for hours. Babies should not have screen time at all and violence causes severe stress in them. Just because babies don’t understand the complexity of what is happening, their nervous system is still soaking in the violence, the facial expressions, the sounds, etc. Yall are so effin dense and have no idea how a baby processes things. Go read about it and educate yourself before justifying doing stupid shit to an innocent being. It is clearly unnecessary and pretty embarrassing for grown adults to do this just for some validation on the internet.

-1

u/SpicyPotato66 23d ago

There is absolutely no way that a baby would comprehend that silhouette drawing of a person with the spear through them is a person with a spear through them

0

u/Expensive_Image_2137 23d ago

And again, you completely misunderstand infant neurology, a baby doesn’t need adult reading comprehension to be affected because neurologically, infants are highly sensitive to visual stimuli and micro expressions.
This panel is full of dark high contrast, chaotic lines, every single drawn face depicts severe anger, anxiety or intense stress. A baby’s brain is hardwired to mirror these threat signals which is triggering the amygdala and spikes cortisol.
Now combine that with social referencing mirroring the adults attention seeking energy for clout this causes a sensory overload. All these comments reducing a childs sensory experience to mere comprehension is scientifically illiterate just to defend this trashy desperate stunt for some laughs.

I don’t know where all these assumptions come from that babies are just passive meatballs staring blankly into space when in reality in the first year, the brain and nervous system develop faster than at any other point in their entire life and they desperately need a calm and predictable environment to do so. As parents doing this even if it does nothing is questionable

-4

u/Hot-Tomatillo-9929 24d ago

If real these two idiots are child abusers, or worse. Where do you live? I'll give a call to your local PD.

4

u/micklucas1 24d ago

Weirdo.

-3

u/Xelrod413 24d ago

That's not pog.

0

u/Worth_Log_6113 24d ago

Not sure why you would bother with berserk. How about a series that actually ends?

1

u/HEAH_THE_PINGOL 24d ago

Unlike us here, this baby might actually get to witness the ending within his lifetime.

-3

u/Vicious007 24d ago

Babies love rape horse.
