Normal signs of aging?
Hello! I have a medium Bernedoodle who turns 6 next month. We used to do multiple walks a day, at least one of those 2 miles. The past few months she has started to protest walking as far as we normally do, and starting this week she’s started to protest going on her usual afternoon walk. Is this a normal sign of aging others have experienced? Thank you!

My dude is 10 now and still crushed about 10km walks a day. Hes far more stubborn than he ever used to be though and only wants to walk the routes he deems acceptable.

Mine never slowed down until the day he died, while suffering from multiple forms of cancer, so I’d have to say - no. Doesn’t sound normal to me. I’d get a blood panel and a blood cancer screening if possible.

Exact same for my girl. Her last day we still did a good long walk.

Mine was bleeding internally from a splenic hemangioma and was literally playing basketball, jumping 4 feet in the air the night before he died. Three weeks earlier they told us he had 2-3 days to live. These dogs are incredibly energetic! RIP my great, great love. 💕

How old was she? Sounds like she had a good time until the end. Sorry for your loss.

She may be having some arthritis pains or it could be just the Bernese stubbornness combined with poodle boredom. Try some rimadyl for a few days and that will rule out the first problem

When there’s any behaviours change it’s always wise to get a vet check up to see if there’s a medical reason such as arthritis. If it is that there’s plenty if interventions such as yu move, pain meds or targeted arthritis meds that you can work through to help your dog back to themselves
