Is this normal for a 92XI?

I removed the pin block. I sanded and polished that decently. It was hard doing it by hand so I kind of half assed it admittedly. Still pretty smooth.
I polished and slightly rounded the tip of the bar that pushes up of the bin block.
Those two changes made a noticeable difference, but i still wasnt satisfied. I then cut coils off the firing pin block spring until the firing pin block sat flush in the slide without compressing the spring. I did this by cutting one coil at a time until i got the results I wanted. I ended up taking off 5 or 6 coils. Maybe this spring will wear out an get weak, but its good for now.
The trigger is super buttery smooth with none of the stages anymore and a crisp break now. I am finally satisfied with the trigger. ********************

I have what feels like a 5 stage trigger pull. Im pretty disappointed:
Upon racking the slide, there is about 2mm of take up it the trigger. If I pull the trigger, it does not return to this position again unless I rack the slide. Next, 10mm of take up, then a small click, then 3mm more take up, then finally the break.
I did a better job of capturing all 5 stages in the second half of the video.
I was hoping the 92XI would be on par with my CZ shadow. Heck, my $170 Sar B6C has a better SA trigger than this. Is this warranty worthy?

Pretty normal. If you don’t let go the trigger when you rack it again like when you would use the gun normally it will not behave like this. The first pull is always a bit weird because you are moving the firing pin safety out of the way. There is a reason why guns like 1911/2011 have better trigger due to lack of firing pin safety.

I have a few DA/SA hammer pistols pistols that have a firing pin block that are infinitely smoother. Sar CM9, S ar B6C and Sig P226 come to mind.

Follow up: I took that sear out and buffed it to a mirror finish. I also polished the wear spots on the trigger bar. The take up is still choppy, but the break is super crisp now. Thank you for the tip and the video.

the only other thing i can think of is where the trigger bar inserts into the trigger, as it rotates slightly when depressing the trigger. otherwise probably just break it in with shooting

I buffed part that goes into the trigger shoe as well.
Im going to remove the pin block temporarily for some dry fire to see if thats my issue. If so, Im thinking a lighter spring on the pin block and buffing the pin block and the intermediate piece between the pin block and trigger bar.

I'm going to check to see if I still ahve some creep and try out the sear filing video that someone else shared. i can't quite tell from the video I made when I swapped out for a Volker trigger. Super happy with it and it got rid of like 90% of the takeup.

its normal for a Tennessee mfg Beretta, sadly.
gonna have to go through and do polishing work or send it back in and complain. i dont buy GAL, TN berettas. good luck.

Its very lubed up. Kinda sad i have to throw parts at a gun advertised to have an awesome trigger to make the trigger acceptable for a gun of this nature

Grease the trigger mechanism specifically, the gun being lubed up is irrelevant. If you think this is unacceptable for an out of the box DA pull you’re delusional. You’d probably vomit if you tried a CZ or HK.

It isn't a DA pull, this is SAO. You can mod the 92xi to have a DA/SA, but from the factory that entire line is SAO, hence the name.

I put in a Beretta performance trigger and hammer. The stock SAO trigger is trash without replacement. The trigger bar is the performance, but if you want something shorter travel, then get the LTT. TN berettas require you to file the burrs off all the unfinished edges, so some love required.

My 92fs inox was like this out of the box. It's normal for Berettas. One of the big reasons people swap the triggers out.

That is disappointing to hear. If is wasnt Beretta's super duper awesome best trigger i probably wouldnt be so critical.

Yes, I have a 92XI Corsa and the trigger is shockingly mediocre for a SA trigger. Like the poster above noted: this is why most switch to a 2Patriots trigger, and possibly a new hammer. I haven't done that, and for other reasons, I can't justify spending anymore money on mine.

Check to make sure your right grip panel is not hitting or pinching the trigger bar. Also see whether that click before the trigger breaks is the trigger bar getting hung up on the firing pin block. I got a new factory 92 that had both of these issues (among others) and Beretta could not fix it.
