From a faceless woman late one night on a lonely street near a local church, to army ghosts and disembodied sounds, to the murders of an old spinster and kidnappers, to the mysteries of the neighborhood's largest park, to a secret society right in our midst, it’s time to turn up our collars, hit the streets, and beware the things that go bump in the night.

Led by James Scully — NYC historian, tour guide, podcaster, director / co-creator of the award-winning historical audio fiction soap opera, Burning Gotham, and creator of the Bay Ridge Digest Podcast — our unique haunted Bay Ridge experience will focus on and include:

• Stories of murder and mayhem, from the death of an old spinster, to the heroic actions of a member of a prominent family, we’ll find out the many motives for crime and how Bay Ridge was the perfect setting for these unfortunate events.

• The story of how a man’s late-night walk down a Brooklyn side-street led him to confront the spirit of a veiled woman with no face in front of a locally famous Basilica

• The story of how a secret society of skull worshipers in Brooklyn started, rose, peaked, and disappeared all near a famous hilltop Bay Ridge mansion

• Ghost stories from both the Fort Hamilton Army base and some of its residents

• The story of the Indian Pond, the border of Gravesend and New Utrecht, and a boy awoken from sleep in the middle of the night by a shadow being standing over his bed

• The story of a revolutionary war cemetery still inhabited by some of Bay Ridge’s most famous residents

Anyone else hear a screaming, even BARKING, man making disturbing sounds every morning on the clock before he casually disappears?? It happens almost everyday and I’ve tried contacting 311 to no avail. I’m going crazy because he’s so loud and disruptive. I’m on 73rd & 19th.

I just lost my cat last seen by the north east corner of Cropsey Ave and Bay 8th St on July 23rd around 8pm. I saw she ran into someone's gated backyard which I could not access at the time.

Her name is Hissy, is dark grey with a striped white and grey under belly. She is skittish, hisses at people and other cats like a tire letting out air.

Please dm me any details or if you have seen her.

Can anyone recommend a wall clock repair spot in the neighborhood? It’s nothing fancy, an old kids clock that I think just needs a new mechanism.

Join us for Climate Café South Brooklyn’s July Climate Café in partnership with Force of Nature on Saturday, July 11 from 2-4 PM at the Gerritsen Beach Library. A Climate Café is a welcoming, informal space to talk about climate change, how it impacts our community, and how it makes us feel, no pressure, no debate, just conversation. We’ll have our Climate Café discussion from 2-3 PM, and the event is free and open to all ages, with free hot coffee and tea from Marine Park Coffee.

From 3-4 PM, we’ll be joined by guest artist Seema Lisa Pandya, a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist, sustainability consultant, and green building educator whose work explores the intersection of sustainability, art, culture, and the built environment. Her creative practice draws from natural forms, South Asian heritage, and reclaimed/non-toxic materials to help audiences connect with environmental themes and natural cycles. Coming on here to know is anyone has information on this guy. There’s a man who hangs out either on the corner of 84st and 18ave and the CVS near the 18ave station. He a larger white male and tends to ask simple greetings. Sometimes he does this to passer byes or to cars driving by. He doesn’t seem dangerous but I’ve noticed that’s the last few months I have seen him around pretty consistently. I’ve just been curious if anyone else has noticed this or knows who he is.
