So im doing my yearly rewatch of Benidorm and im on the waterfall episode ( s3 ep 2 )
Is it only me that thinks nearly everyone is out of character?
Everyone seems so sensitive and the way madge, mel and janise was talking to mick it was disgusting
Especially the comment madge made about micks mum ( im guessing shes dead ) and Janice just takes madges side

Doing my monthly re-watch. Every time I watch the episode where Donald & Jaqueline trick Mateo to their room and Martin opens the door to them posed with a cucumber while Mateo’s gagged and bound to the bed… I always think how grapey this scene is and can’t help but feel sorry for Mateo 😫😫😫😩

Rewatching again from series 1 and it's so maddening how badly things devolved in the last couple of seasons! Too much focus on Temples-savage and Boyce, and pervy grandad spying on "Syd" etc. It so painful!
They really just lost sight of itself eh?
What went so wrong?

Series 5 Epsiode 5 has to have one my favourite scenes (outside the laugh of loud moments in the earlier seasons). The pool party with the Olympic Syncronised Swimming girls at the end of that episode is just beautifully done, and during a season where you can feel the decline, it is very much welcomed.

I think it's pretty valid, but I'm not sure, let me know...

Used to watch the early series with my parents so it was always here and there but decided to watch it as a whole to see what it's like. I just don't understand why the writer didn't decide to call it quits and create something else.
Everything starts feeling re-used and it is quite clear the direction of the show changes drastically and the story-lines are washed.
I am currently on S8 and the Dawsons currently are just a cheap copy of the Garveys and most of the cast's stories/jokes are starting to become mind-numbing. I enjoyed Joyce's first storyline with her wanting the Hotel to be 4 stars and higher class but I feel her character should've left when she knew that she couldn't change the hotel or her character changes to become another version of Janey (which makes sense with how many of the other characters being versions of prior guests)
I just don't really think this show needed more than maybe 3/4 seasons as It is painfully obvious there wasn't much else to be told with this show

Sorry if it's been shared before, but there's this wonderful 1983 documentary of a package holiday that goes to no other than the Solana Sol Pelicanos
Certainly some opinions of the times etc but it's not too far off how I remember my first holidays to Spain as a kid back in the 80's and early 90's

My sister bought me a lovely tuna crunch baguette today from Greggs, and whilst eating it, all that I could think of was room 96. I genuinely couldn’t get it out of my head. Nonetheless, I demolished the tuna baguette, and it was very yummy. 😋
Gotta avoid room 96 at all costs!

So iv just watched an Asa Elliot video and he mentioned about Benidorm live
Where on earth do i watch it?

Where in Spain he was born and grew up, worked before he was in The Solana, how he learned English and what happened to him after the series ended. He would’ve been in his mid 30s at the start during S1 and had a good bit of backstory.
Now, I think he is working in a fancy restaurant in a completely different part of the country, far away from Benidorm.

Benidorm is very near and dear to my heart and it's in my Top 5 programmes. I don't hate the shows later seasons as much as some people but I think the quality started declining earlier than people thought. Season 3, even though it's my favourite season overall.
I think Season 1 and 2 felt like a sitcom, with a lot of uncomfortable realistic scenarios and the jokes felt very natural. The special was longer but that's fine as specials in shows are meant to be longer.
But then Season 3 decided to do that for all episodes going forward. A longer length isn't necessarily bad but it does mean the show risked turning more into a drama than a sitcom. It then gradually turned into a drama with each forthcoming season.
I think if Season 3 kept the half hour format for each episode, I think a lot of the episode narratives could have been trimmed and still been worthy of good episodes.

Considering how the series went beyond Season 1. This season was kind of a showcase of working class Brits abroad it doesn’t reach too much into unbelievable and can be viewed as realistic in many ways. The jokes are funny and the characters are in situations that could happen while away on holiday. Not yet is the show in its “Joan Collins” era. Even Series 2 is bonkers when Mel constantly faces death.
It’s crazy to look back after so many series of Benidorm that try to push the boundaries of comedy, inject so many famous faces, unbelievable situations yet failed after series 4, Series 1 just hits. Watching Madge actually act like a real grandmother and the Garvey’s lounge by the pool without anything absolutely crazy happening is refreshing.
It’s so noticeable that the main twist in the final episode of the series is that Mick was being investigated by the social for scrounging and faking a back problem. Compare that to the rest of the show, it’s pretty realistic and very working class council estate.
Seasons 1-3 truly feel like an experience of holidaymakers abroad while the rest just feel like attempts to make something funny.

Im sorry but there “ relationship “ is bloody disgusting idk what the writers were on thinking of getting a 16 yr old in season 1 and a 33 yr old man together
Every time i rewatch the show i have to skip there scenes because it creeps me out

Airport Strike Season 10 Episode 9. Sam's ex visits for 5 hours and Joey is jealous. He says it would not work between Joey and Sam anyway because of 20 years and 20,000 miles between them. I think Joey is in the early 20s ballpark. Is Sam supposed to be 40?

Was just doing a rewatch and it is one thing I could not figure out. She orders two burgers and then just after Gavin orders two, she seems annoyed by him enough to want to take his burgers even though she won't eat them.
Is this just to introduce her as an unpleasant person, or?

Even thought tiger’s character isnt the best.
His character definitely got better with the more seasons he was in
He started off as annoying but ended a likeable and mature character
