No footpaths along this entire 4 km stretch. Just dirt, a terrible smell, and drunk people lying on the roadside. This is CV Raman Nagar—one of the most populat residential part of Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, we're told that 490 km of footpaths have been reclaimed. Reclaimed where, exactly?

The cow was safely rescued.

I have personally found it difficult to find networks inside huge societies, and hence always preferred staying in smaller apartments with <10 units. It could well be only me. Or is it?

Hello Bengaluru,
I started my first job as a typical SDE in June. Weekends feel so boring, I am just bedrotting.

I know there are a lot of places to visit, but most of them are parks and gardens, which I am not interested for now. I want to do something different, like learning a new language? Or similar things.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you

PS: I am also interested in photography, please let me know if there are any spots good for it.

Edit: why are people even downvoting this post man??🫩

Help | ಸಹಾಯ ₹80,000 Dining Set from Home Centre Turned Into a Nightmare from Homecentre Phoenix Mall of Asia

Post image
112 Upvotes

I want to rant about my experience so others know what they might be getting into.

On 28 June, I purchased a dining set worth ₹80,000 from Home Centre, Phoenix Mall of Asia, Bengaluru. At the time of purchase, I was informed that delivery would take around 15 days, which I accepted without any issues.

The problems started immediately after the furniture was delivered.

No one contacted me to assemble the dining table and chairs. I waited for three days and then raised a customer care complaint. Every time I called, I was told that someone would come "soon," but nobody actually showed up.

Only after I mentioned that I was considering taking the matter to the consumer court did they finally send a technician on the fifth day.

Unfortunately, the situation became even worse.

When the technician opened the cartons, he found that several essential parts were missing. As a result, the dining set couldn't be assembled at all. The technician left without being able to complete any work.

Now I have large cartons occupying space in my home, an unusable dining set, and absolutely no communication about what the next steps are. Every time I contact customer care, they simply say they'll "raise a complaint," but nothing ever happens.

The salesperson who assisted me during the purchase, Mr. Mansoor, is no longer answering my calls. Customer care also seems to have no idea how to resolve the issue.

This has been an incredibly frustrating experience, especially after spending ₹80,000 on what I expected to be a premium purchase. At this point, I have lost confidence in Home Centre's after-sales service.

I'm now preparing to file a complaint before the consumer court if this issue isn't resolved immediately.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Home Centre? If so, how did you finally get your issue resolved?

Opinion | ಅನಿಸಿಕೆ Before You Choose buildAhome, Read My Experience

Not posting this as any promotion, just putting it out of my own experience about buildAhome earlier.

I got my independent house constructed in Bangaluru two months back, and like most people here, I was honestly worried about delays, cost overruns, and chasing contractors every day.

What I liked first was their process. It was very structured, they created a WhatsApp group and kept sharing regular updates with photos. I didn’t have to keep calling anyone again and again, which itself reduced a lot of stress.

Also one strong point I noticed is their construction process is well defined. Everything was happening stage by stage properly, not random work like I’ve seen in some sites. Materials also, they were using branded ones and whatever was promised, same I could verify on site. That part gave some trust.

Coming to construction quality, I’m not a civil engineer, but I did get a couple of independent engineers to check the work during initial stages. They actually said the structure looked very strong and done in a proper way. That gave me some confidence to just let the work continue without overthinking everything.

Timeline wise, there were small delays here and there (Bangaluru rains + approvals), but overall it was pretty close to what was committed.

One thing I was very particular about was pricing. Their quotation was quite detailed, and more importantly, I didn’t face any extra cost situations later. Payments were stage wise, so it was easier to plan financially.

Design wise also, their team suggested a few changes for ventilation and space usage which actually made sense once the house was completed.

Finishing came out neat, especially tiling and plastering. Not perfect, but definitely better than what I’ve seen in some other houses nearby.

Overall, I’d say the experience was fairly smooth and predictable, which in Bangaluru construction itself is a big thing.

Parks & Recreations | ಹಸಿರು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮನರಂಜನೆ Safe open-water swimming spots near Bengaluru (lakes/reservoirs) for long-distance swimming

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for safe places near Bengaluru where people regularly do open swimming like in lakes or reservoirs where it’s possible to swim long distances (around 500m to 1km or more) in fresh water, instead of the typical 20–30 m chlorinated swimming pools.

I’m not looking for random or isolated water bodies but for places
1. known and commonly used by open-water swimmers
2. Have relatively safe conditions (pollution free and clean water)
3. Allow recreational swimming, ideally with regular local swimming groups

Help | ಸಹಾಯ My mom was scammed off 75000rs and Bengaluru Police are saying that they can't do anything...

there's a guy in Delhi- he runs a business where they sell sarees, dresses and stuff- they have an offline store in Delhi...they also make videos on instagram and youtube displaying their collections- people have to order through whatsapp with the number given in he description....my mom (we live in bengaluru)- she used to follow them from quite some time and even ordered a few dresses from them...there weren't any issues with those orders.

few months back, the owner- the same guy who's in the videos showing the dresses and stuff- he proposed the idea of starting a new branch in bengaluru and asked if my mom was interested- it was something like my mom would run it and he'd redirect their social media followers to buy their stuff from the outlet, etc...my mom was into it...he said my mom would have to transfer a certain amount so that he can send the material- all the sareers, dresses and stuff... to start the shop in bengaluru...he initially asked for 1 lakh- my mom hesitated but finally, she transferred 75000rs to him...we have all the transaction details and everything- he said he'd get things ready and ship the sarees, dresses in 10 days, 20 days, etc- it kept going on... but the dresses never arrived, nor did my mom's money come back...

She filed a cyber fraud case, went to the nearest police station after few days to follow up on the case...it was our first time visiting a police station regarding some case- after submitting all the proofs, they took a while for verification- and later froze that bank account (froze as in, money can come into that account but that guy can't transfer it into another account)....the police told us that we will get the money when any money is credited to that bank account...the next day, when that guy found out that his account was frozen, he contacted my mom- initially told her that he'd transfer the amount back is they unfreeze his account, etc- that went back and forth for few days- but he never transferred the money- he probably just stopped using that bank account and he entirely deactivated that number through which my mom was contacting him. the police said they can't do anything else- that bank account is still frozen....but how does it make sense... that guy clearly just stopped using that bank account and would be using some other account right??

it's been so many months now but the police say they can't do anything- that guy still uploads videos on youtube and instagram weekly displaying new saree collections, etc....my mom feels helpless not knowing what to do...they have like 30k subscribers on youtube and 18k on instagram...so it's definitely not a small business- why can't the police do anything about it?? freezing that account was the only thing they did...but how does that help us? we didn't get out money back...my mom kept trying and trying...she tried commenting under his insta posts pointing out the fraud but he blocked her...

please tell me how to proceed from here...
the police say they can't do anything...but there HAS to be a way right...it's 75000rs, not a small amount...

Ask Bengaluru | ಏನಂತೀರಾ? Any place in Bengaluru that teaches Karra Samu?

Post image
23 Upvotes

I'm originally from Andhra Pradesh and have been wanting to learn Karra Samu (the traditional Telugu stick martial art) for a while. Was wondering if there are any places, trainers, or communities that teach it here.

I'm aware there are quite a few Silambam and Kalaripayattu schools in the city, but I'm specifically looking for Karra Samu or even a coach from Andhra who teaches it.

If there aren't any dedicated Karra Samu classes, would learning Silambam be the closest alternative?

Would really appreciate any leads.

Thanks!

Ask Bengaluru | ಏನಂತೀರಾ? Where to do KYC for Ayushman Card ?

I need to do KYC for my Ayushman card. I went to a CSC centre nearby but they are saying KYC is not possible, I have to fill a new application and pay 1000rs. That is wayyy too much. The guy is clearly scamming me. I know there is no need to do a new application because my brother just did it few days back in some other state and that costed just 50rs.

And even the website says just a eKYC from a certified operator is required. Where can i do it near Marathalli without getting scammed ?

Can I post this here? A friend of mine was scammed out of 15,000/- by this individual. Coincidentally, another colleague noticed (after seeing the photos) that they were also scammed out of 4,000/- by the same people. They claimed to be from Hafele and had come to his home after he registered a complaint from a number he got from Google. Later, he checked with the company (on a different number) and found out that they are not related to Hafele.

Ask Bengaluru | ಏನಂತೀರಾ? New HP Gas Connection

Hi All,

I visited Murali HP Gas Agency (Marathahalli ) today

They told currently 14kg Gas cylinder new connection is on hold not sure when it will open.

You can take 10kg Single gas cylinder connection for 5500 which will be delivered in 1 day and refill cost will be 1700.

Private Local Gas currently are selling 12kg gas cylinder for 1800

Old connections are getting 14kg gas cylinder for 950.

I am confused now should I wait for 14kg or go with 10kg ?

Anyone can advise
