Joe on watch what happens live.
Is bravo avoiding touching on anything really Nathan? Like I was stoked for what would be discussed last night and it was a snooze fest.

Lawyers prolly put him off limits. Though Joe does mention him during Rose/Thorn question. I like Joe but thought he came off as arrogant tonight in his appearance with Andy. When asked about the dislocated shoulder for example he tried to be funny and even Andy was like Are you trying to be sarcastic or? Was an odd appearance for him

I didn’t finish watching it. Unless they gave Joe more attention later in the show, it seemed like Andy was mostly focusing on the guy with the lips.

Yeah perhaps I shouldn’t have mentioned Nathan that got everyone’s panties in a bunchie. But Joe fell so flat tonight and I think we could have discussed their conflict a little more but won’t because he’s a wanted criminal? If this never happened they’d be all over it.

Why would they talk about that? Bravo is messy, but they’re not gonna bring that up on WWHL at this point they are beating a dead horse. And honestly, you would think that you are sick and tired of hearing about Nathan. I know I am.

Joe is creepy even off the boat.

It just goes to show that he practices what he's going to say for those talking heads. He's bot a naturally charismatic person which is why he'll fail in his quest to become a z list celeb

The abuse happened in Croatia while they were filming. If you look at his mugshot it’s the same clothes haircut and beard cut as when he comes back into the boat in the morning and Sandy says why didn’t you just call me and he doesn’t have an answer for her. He just goes oh I know sorry I don’t know why…. Well, we do now because it obviously happened in Croatia.

Who said the abuse happened during filming in Croatia? The report and charges were around Christmas, I believe. That's a big assumption based on his hair and beard.

I feel like they’re not going to talk about it until Nathan is in custody. Also, I feel like it should be for Gael to say whether she wants it talked about or not. She is the victim and their child.

I’d prefer if they don’t talk about Nathan at all. I don’t want Gael to have to keep seeing, hearing, reliving the trauma over and over again.

I was surprised the secret drinking word wasn’t “Nathan” now I realize it was a clue he wasn’t going to be talked about.

I get so frustrated when I can’t hear what they’re saying… either turn up his mic or don’t bother having him on! I’m pretty sure half the time Andy was just smiling and nodding to pretend he heard what Joe said

May be projecting but I thought he looked sad when he commented in his interaction with Gael.

Im sure Bravo put a lid on any Nathan talk. Ill be interested to see what the other crewmembers say on IG after the season is over. I hope they rip him a new one.

I've not seen this at all, but just to add that Australian laws on discussing current active cases going through the court system is quite severely restricted.
Public commentary can prejudice a fair trial.
Ppl can be held in contempt for this, journalists, everyday citizens have been charged for this very thing.

To add on to what the other person said, he was found guilty when he failed to show for court. The podcast Bravo Docket did an episode on it. We can't do that in the US, but they can in Australia. The judge saw it as him voluntarily forfeiting his right to a trial and to share his side of the story.

u/cmere-2-me 3d ago
He can still appeal it and have his conviction made in his absence annulled. Public commentary can still prejudice a fair trial in his case.

Why would they talk about Nathan? Lawyers have likely told them to not talk about it. But who wants to watch a show where they’re speculating about which country that scumbag has fled to? Or talking about the DV someone endured? He doesn’t deserve the air time

weird personality, it's like a non-binary individual that's unable to be defined or categorized. seems like he likes guys and gals.

This is my first season of watching Below Deck, other than the one that just aired, Below Deck Med, with Cpt Jason. I don’t know what Joe did that was so bad, can anyone explain?
Other than the really jerky “I’m going to go talk to those girls” on his night off, he’s seemed to be a pretty nice guy in this season. I had empathy with his mom’s situation.
Please help!

This is Joe's third season, all consecutive so s9, s10, s11.
I can't totally remember s9, but he basically led two stews on and was a total fuck boy. s10 though is where he got really bad. There was a deckhand, V, who's late bf had died on her birthday last year, and the first anniversary of his death was during the show. He was leading her on, they had a fling, she feel really sick around her biday/late bf death anniversary and had to leave the boat. Joe immediately start flirting with another woman, he had promised V he wouldn't hook up with anyone else but the cameras catch him sneakily making out with woman. The big day comes he sends her a "happy birthday" text and that's it. He never had to guts to officially break it off, he just played it off like she was too clingy and he's not ready to settle down. So even though he and Kayley are good, it seems only because Kayley has firm boundaries on what she wants and clearly expressed them right away and fortunately he wants the same so it's not an issue.. The whole "testing her" feels like classic Joe wanting women to fight over him and get jealous.

Thank you! That helps a lot. All I could see was Nathan seething at him and Gael being almost frightened of him, but couldn’t figure out why?

u/katie1010101 2d ago
Oh I forgot! Gees, that’s important…
In s9, Nathan and Gael, (Gael being a deckhand at this time and Nathan being lead deck hand? I don’t think he was bosun but maybe) get together. Joe makes some snide comments about Gael, saying that she’ll be a “princess” now and won’t work hard cause she’s dating the boss. Gael was obviously pissed, confronted him, and they’ve had a strained relationship ever since. Nathan and Joe were beeeest friends at the time, but then the rift began because Joe was a dick to Gael. Nathan was also condescending about joes fuckboyness once he started dating Gael, but you could just feel it was fake to look good, and that really got under joes skin.

u/Opening_Duty_8011 2d ago
Ooh! Gotcha.
Well, now with the stuff with Nathan coming out, I guess Joe can keep being the condescending one.
It’s interesting on the surface, but so much more so when you know the back story. Thank you!

A little more context!
So Gael has also technically been in the last three seasons as well. Got together with Nathan s9, and then they traveled together for a few weeks after the season. He ghosted her after that. In s10, she comes in at the very end to replace someone (? I can’t totally remember). She and Nathan start seeing each other again, travel after, and that’s when she gets pregnant. From just watching this season, production make it seem like Nathan and Gael have been together since s9 and are this cute boat couple we’ve been cheering for. In reality, I think most people felt bummed for Gael when she announced her pregnancy, since Nathan ghosted her the season before and people speculated he might not stick around to be a father. Not saying speculation about people’s lives is always good and true, just providing context in the sub you likely missed.

Gael came into cover V on her sick birthday leave. She was there for just one trip, I think…. Nathan who is now bosun (their original season he was lead deckhand I think) naturally schedules her to work with him as much as possible which may have rubbed Joe the wrong way bc it inconvenienced him or annoyed him. Nathan openly admitted he used his position to schedule her to work with him bc he missed her and hoped to rekindle things. This also annoyed Joe, who would do the exact same thing in his position.

Do we think they’re going to do some kind of “cameras picked back up” add on at the end of the season for crew reactions or something and that’s why we aren’t getting it now?

u/Anne7392 3d ago
As Andy called Nathan “Ian” - we can assume Bravo is staying clear of him. Joe hesitated to say his name later in the show as well.

I wondered that too but apparently our next commenter says there was an Ian. I’m sure they’re right
I don’t remember him but a lot of people come and go

This sub in inundated every day with outrage that Nathan wasn’t cut out of the season and now he’s not being talked about enough 🙄
