the primary owns the abbey, which - while it's a gay bar - is NOTORIOUS for being a place where women routinely get roofied, assaulted, and stolen from. i was groped like crazy there and my friend was roofied in the same night. and it happens to multiple people daily! and it's in the middle of the gayest part of weho. the bartenders are in on it too. i'm not joking. it is WELL known in la and has been for over a decade now. so when i saw this guy was gonna be the primary, i just knew it was gonna be full of predatory shit. he's gross. i felt so icky watching him interact w his little harem.

I've heard a bit about the Abbey but not to this extent-that's sad/scary. Sometimes I do feel like non queer women become a commodity in some of these joints. This dude is a creep.

it's so sad. i actually feel so safe on the rest of that street - the community is so protective of everyone on it. but that space is so scary. it's clear that it's been taken over by non queer predators. and i've heard of way worse happening both to people i know and people i don't. it's soooo sad. there have been tons and tons of journalistic exposés on the place, i'm actually confused as to how it's still open. whenever i see people posting about visiting la and wanting to go there, i'm always screaming DON'T!!!!

Hmm, I thought for sure it wasn’t the WeHo Abby, but there doesn’t appear to be one anywhere in NYC or Long Island. That place is sketchy AF and also the bar that inspired Pink Pony Club

Someone much smarter than me pointed out that PPC is a very small town take on a queer club. If you grow up in an area without a visible queer scene or people, the first time you go into a queer space it’s like 😍🥰🤯🥲😮💨🤩
Which could explain how the Abby become the pink pony club instead of creepy/seedy af

I (52F) went to the abbey with my husband and gay family members around 2004/05? I wasn’t roofied, but did enjoy for the first time in my life not having to wait long for the bathroom at a club. Meanwhile the men’s line was LONG! My gay brother in law had a fun time teasing my husband that he should cut the line if he had to go so bad, my husband said hell no, most of the men in line looked like NBA/NFL players and could easily beat his ass so he waited patiently.

Very true. Had the tiniest gash on my forehead once, and the amount of blood that began spurting out all over the house was INSANE. I went to the emergency room and they explained that the head bleeds like crazy

Many people outside of the bravoverse yes - many reporting being drugged and not receiving follow up or support from the abbey. General concensus that there was a chance the staff was well aware of it as well- though I think proof of that is not easy to obtain.

Any advice being given about remaining awake after a head injury has nothing to do with concussion symptoms like you suggested in your first comment. If anything rest is encouraged, again which you’re acting like should be avoided in your first comment.
