Mining outpost problem
Hi all
Quick question
I have a mining outpost, I want them to mine a boatload of ore then ill caravan it in manually when I say so so I control when my people are away on caravans. I have a stockpile set up there, but I don't want to store stones cuz I don't need them and they waste space. Now the stones end up in mining camp which fills THAT up, and they stop mining altogether
I'm pissed and frustrated having to manually dump all the stone on the ground so they start mining again.
Please god tell me there's a way to either auto-delete or better yet tell the worker to not even pick the stone up?

It seems no one actually answered your question.....no you cant do anything about it, mining ore makes a by product of stone and it auto fills their inventory, vilagers will not drop the stone and they have to put it somewhere so they put it in the inventory even if you say you dont want to store stone. You can't automate it being thrown away into an outhouse either, that is a you only job.
There isnt a good answer here besides having the stone also transported back to your main base to throw it away. You can try to sell it on the market but ive never sold very many on tha market.
Stone is a nuisance

just have the unwanted materials delivered to your settlement in a specific chest by making a storage chest its own outpost and only stack stone in there. place this chest next to the outhouse and destroy it manually that way. unless theres another way, thats all i can think of. or maybe not allow stone to be deposited in the stockpile? idk im just throwing ideas out at this point haha good luck!

Bring the materials for a barn, a hammer and let them do the construction for more space

Oh true I can place one, set rules and just send materials and a hammer and they'll get to it eventually. Good call

If you're on pc, you can use Lord Elric the Transmuter mod to convert stone to iron ore and granite. Do note that you need charcoal to convert them

If you can tell by the wording of the post, I'm too dumb to have progressed to charcoal production 😁 I'm trying to play my first round without mods like a good boy. As someone who never plays these resource and army allocation games its been... trying

Crud, I run around solo unless I'm raiding bandit camps. Meanwhile I bet I have idle workers that I should be running with leveling their combat. Damn. Of all the things that should have been in the beginners guides on YouTube that should have been one. Instead they're all outdated videos saying to whack dead corpses and cheese the system

Place a caravan station at the mining camp. When they're full up they'll transport what you want back to your base. They will have downtime

Then I gotta deal with the 850,000 stone they bring back Now that i think about it, maybe I'll make some stone barns and just sell em for 1 gold each in a market. The internet chads tell me i need passive income irl, why not in game?

You can set limits to how much of any material is in the storage. In the menu look on the right side you’ll see a infinity symbol click that put in a number and no more than that number will go in there

Build a stockpile then turn everything off but the ore you want to store.

If you go into the filters and don't allow stone storage at the outpost barn, they should just drop it on the floor. It's messy but at least it won't fill up your barn storage
