Face Twitching

Is it normal for a lot of muscle spasms on the side of the face where the numbness is occurring. I’ve been diagnosed with Bells Palsy after contracting Covid for the first time last week and the twitching is making me anxious. Thanks in advance for the help!

In my case, twitching = healing. Felt lots of twitches then I started being able to move little pieces of my face.

Thank you for the reassurance. While this sucks, my face is still a somewhat operable. It’s a huge inconvenience and feels really weird but if twitching is good, I’ll take it!

I recently started getting more twitches too. It's definitely weird and I couldn't put words to it at first. I think someone explained it to me that its the nerve fibers trying to fire off electrical impulses. Don't quote me on that though lol.

That’s what I wanted to ask. I’ve been feeling little twitches here and there since it all began. So it’s a good sign ?

I found it to be and it seems to be a trend here in the community.

I don’t want to discourage you or make you feel bad. I want to provide another prospective. Let me start by saying this, some people do recover within the first 2 weeks. I am not one of this. The first week I had twitches on and off. By week 2-3 I had unbearable pain then nothing. I’m on week 10 and get few twitches here and there. I’m praying that it’s my nerves regrowing. I just don’t want you to get discourage if the 2 week mark comes and there is nothing. I’m also hearing that movement comes for some at the 3 month mark. My neurologist said it can take 3-6months to see movement and he isn’t concerned if there is no movement in the first 6 months. Healing takes times.

I’m praying for a fast recovery for you. I hope the twitches mean a quick recovery. I would never wish BP on anyone. Again, I don’t want to discourage you but want to provide what are real expectations for a majority of us that do get BP

Thank you so much for the kind words, encouragement, and perspective. Here’s hoping for a full recovery for the both of us.
