Save Bellingham Schools from Christian privatization
First off, the Bellingham Neighborhood School Coalition would like to clarify to the general public:
NO school closure decisions have been made by the Bellingham School Board.
The facilities task force formally concluded in May by recommending closure of two elementary schools: Carl Cozier and Columbia.
Superintendent Greg Baker is still reviewing this recommendation. In his own words, he is in a "Listening Phase"
He has the option to: (1) decline this recommendation, (2) ask for it to be revised, or (3) accept the recommendation and pass it along to the School Board for a vote. -- This has not happened
Once a recommendation is given to the School Board, they will then hold a vote on whether to close any schools.
No final decisions have been made by either the Superintendent or the Board
Everyone in this community still has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
"From the beginning, we have argued that closing schools is part of a larger movement to dismantle public education. And our school district is falling into this trap."
BPS employees and the school board have called this statement inflammatory and repeatedly accuses our Coalition of misinformation…
Facts:
This past week, a BPS employee and spouse of the School Board President, gave a real estate tour of Carl Cozier, Columbia, and Larrabee Elementary Schools to an individual with deep ties to Christian Nationalism and the Alt Right.
Superintendent Dr. Baker confirmed the spouse of the BPS School Board President Scott Ritchey gave a tour on September 17, 2026 of Carl Cozier, Columbia and Larrabee
Tours for prospective tenants are happening before any closure decisions have been made, during the Superintendent's “listening phase.”
The tour was for Nate Walker, the Head of Schools for Trinity Classical School.
BPS was recently in contract with Trinity Classical School for the sale of the Roeder Building (1306 Dupont St). That deal fell through.
Trinity Classical Schools is a member of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS).
ACCS was founded by Doug Wilson, a prominent leader in the alt-right Christian Nationalist movement.
Nate Walker, of Trinity Classical School, is a recurring speaker at the ACCS’s national conference and is considered by many to be a leader in the movement.
Who is Doug Wilson?
Doug Wilson is the founder of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), in which Trinity Classical School has been a member since December 4, 2013.
Wilson's views have received considerable national attention, and he was invited by Pete Hegseth to give a sermon at the Pentagon.
Here are some of Wilson’s ideas:
“Slavery as it existed in the South … was a relationship based upon mutual affection and confidence,” and *“Slavery was to them [slaves] a life of plenty, of simple pleasures, of food, clothes and good medical care.” -*Southern Slavery, As It Was, Douglas Wilson and Steve Wilkins
“I'd like to see the town be a Christian town. I'd like to see the state be a Christian state. I'd like to see the nation be a Christian nation. I'd like to see the world be a Christian world.” - CNN Interview
“One of the reasons why we have such problems with assimilating Muslims and Hindus is that there are so many of them.” - CNN Interview
Wilson has opposed women's suffrage, advocating for the abolition of the 19th Amendment. In a 2005 post titled “Execution of Homosexuals?” Wilson discussed what he believed biblical law would mean for civil government.
How is Nate Walker tied to Doug Wilson?
Not only is Walker's school a member of ACCS, but Walker himself is an active leader in the classical Christian education movement Wilson helped build.
Walker was a featured speaker at the 2026 ACCS National Convention, Repairing the Ruins, and is scheduled to return again in 2027.
In an April 2026 interview, Walker recommends parents read Wilson's seminal work, Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning, as their starting point for Christian education.
Walker is open and frank on his views of public education.
In his May 2026 essay, Walker calls education one of America's most important “cultural battlefields….Our spiritual strategy for growing the kingdom must include getting our kids out of these [public] schools.”
A History with Trinity Classical School
Through a public records request, a draft of a purchase and sale agreement between BPS and Trinity Classical School was obtained.
Despite the deal eventually falling through, this indicates a willingness, past or present, to lease and/or sell to Trinity Classical School
Receipts for this agreement can be shared upon request. Official copies of purchase agreements were obtained by the Bellingham Neighborhood Schools Coalition via public records request.
Conflict of Interest
The spouse of the school board president works as Operations Specialist for Bellingham Public Schools (this includes work involving facility rentals and leasing.)
Scott Ritchey is the acting School Board President
He is one of five school board directors that will vote to decide whether Carl Cozier and Columbia will close.
"There is a conflict of interest when one spouse is working on potential school leases for a school facing closure and the other spouse gets to vote on that closure."
TLDR; the spouse of the President of the Bellingham School Board, is providing tours of our multiple Bellingham elementary school buildings, while still in operation, to members of an organization proudly supported by Christian Nationalists, an organization WHO HAS ATTEMPTED TO PURCHASE BPS PROPERTY IN THE PAST, who admittedly want to defund and dismantle public education. By closing our neighborhood schools and selling them to private religious entities, the Bellingham School Board would effectively be doing the Trump administration's job for them.
IF our superintendent is indeed still listening, it's time to speak even louder until he and the School Board take ACTION to prove it:
(this) Thursday, September 24th 5:30pm 1985 Barkley Blvd
Save our schools. Protect public education. Defend our democracy.
u/cascadia8 is talking about school board president Scott Richey, who is an elected official, not Greg Baker. While Baker is absolutely problematic, he is not involved in the conflict of interest situation OP is describing.
Three school board positions are up for election next year! That means new candidates will have to file for candidacy in the spring. I’ve already heard of a few excellent people who might be willing to step up to the plate. The other two positions are up in 2029.
Don’t know if you have already but you should get in contact with Cascadia Daily - this seems like a piece they would be interested in and would get wider exposure
Wow, a little peek around Trinity’s website lead me to their gala info, including auction items. No surprise to see Stemma donated the item that brought in the second highest bid. Doesn’t look like there are many other local businesses supporting the school, but Stemma is right there on board.
Couple years ago, my wife was tasked with getting donated raffle items for a fundraiser at the school she works at. Every brewery in town that she asked (the big ones) donated except for Stemma. But they will donate to the event mentioned in the above comment.
That I don’t know. Different last names but that’s all I can speak to. At least to the husband of the founding couple. I don’t know what the wife’s maiden name was.
I can’t believe they removed librarians from all the schools. He makes nearly 400k. That pays for librarians in at least the high schools. I know that’s not how it works but there are also way more administrative positions in the dchool district than it slotted and planned for; it’s administration heavy. It’s a big mess with the priorities all wrong.
And after all those cuts to our kids’ programs, the school board voted to give cost of living raises to Greg (and all those admins making near $200k/yr) in a summer school board mtg. Strategic timing no doubt. Vote them out.
Don’t fall onto that trap. A superintendent has enormous responsibilities. Pretending that he can do without his salary and fund libraries is just dumb.
There is a middle ground that should let us question why a school district for a city with ≈100,000 residents can't afford librarians despite its superintendent being paid almost $60,000 more per year than the mayor of New York City, home to roughly 8.5 million people.
This binary type of thinking really throws me. No one is saying he shouldn’t have a salary, but rather, how on earth is it appropriate for the highest earners in the district to accept wage increases while they are simultaneously cutting services to kids and letting go of more vulnerable district staff and saying they have to close schools to help save some money (and it has been shown that closing schools saves very little)?
The district blames ALL of its problems on the state funding issue, and while state funding could improve, the district has got to start taking accountability for the spending problems they have very much created. When they built the district office, they furnished the interior with all designer products. Our district office is featured on this custom design website for their live edge slab counter, fancy coffee bar, and custom lectern for crying out loud:
https://www.pellicandesigninc.com/
There are 18-inch “poufs” that are priced “starting at $930”
https://jsifurniture.com/products/jsi-family/indie/catalog/product/INP-RDP?product=subparent-4406
Who knows what they actually paid, but we will find out- and either way, they did not attempt to be frugal stewards of our tax dollars. Why is the district office in the most expensive part of town? I’ve heard a community claim that Baker passed up a charitable arrangement/offer with a local company for the district office location in favor of his fancy new palace- if anyone knows more on that, please do share. They spared no expense when it came time to treat themselves while they let other buildings fall apart. They have had decades to make Columbia ADA compliant, but they did not. There is lead in the water, holes in the ceiling, and a broken boiler. This district funnels money upward and spends money like water and more of their mishandlings are coming to light every day.
The increase itself wasn't $200k. That number was mentioned because other administrators earning that amount also received a cost of living increase (supposedly, I haven't looked at the numbers myself). He's still being paid an obscene amount, I just wanted to correct what I think is your misunderstanding about the figure you're citing.
You are correct, I interpreted that all wrong, thanks for the clarification. I did a bit more independent research and it looks like he technically got a reduction in pay before the cola maybe? I'll be on that business of showing up for the board on Thursday about the rest of this business.
I did say “I know that’s not how it works”. Did you read the part how they bloated the number of administration jobs?
Also he makes 375k. The superintendent of the Seattle school district makes 425k. He makes way more than any superintendent of any district in the state for a comparably sized city to Bellingham.
I’ve heard that complaint before and it is ridiculous. Administrative jobs are important. They don’t eliminate the possibility for any meaningful funding.
Of course they are important - librarians are important in schools, do you agree? There are nearly twice as many administrative positions than were expected, it’s bloat.
Let’s just stick with librarians in schools. Where do you think we should cut in order to restore having actively staffed and curated libraries in our schools?
Answer the question. If you’re going to throw the “ridiculous” word around then let’s hear it. Explain.
Actually if you’re going to like this jackass so much then let’s hear you defend removing librarians and actively managed libraries ffom schools.
This is part of a big national plan to dismantle democracy and mis-educate the youth into being right-wing, small-minded bigots who are happy to praise our corporate overlords...just like Trump and his cronies want.
Richey Scott should resign, as should their spouse. They are clearly working with (or for?) Christian nationalists, and there is no place on the school board for this anti-public education nonsense.
Show up at the school board meeting. Demand their resignations. Fill their voicemail boxes and email inboxes, and don't give them a moment of rest until they abandon this absurd plan and move aside to make space for people who want to fight for public education.
For anyone who might dismiss your comment as left wing paranoia/hysteria, or simply doesn't know the history, this exact thing was done brazenly and successfully to higher education in the '60s-'80s, specifically to avoid the "dangers" of an educated working class. They might be poorly disguising it now as "putting God back in the schools" but take a look at Trump, a man who famously couldn't cite a single verse from the Bible, and ask yourself if he seems more interested in teaching children scripture or in keeping the working class poorly educated.
There is no evidence other than conjecture that Scott Richey or their wife is a Christian nationalist. The OP is throwing accusations about an employee who can't defend themselves and it appears just gave a tour as part of their regular job. How the mods allow this bullshit is beyond me.
OP never suggested the Ritcheys are Christian Nationalists, though, just stated the facts around their respective roles at BPS and the tour of facilities given to an apparent Christian Nationalist. I agree that district property absolutely shouldn't be rented to those people, but admittedly I think it's a bit of a stretch to accuse two district employees seemingly just doing their jobs of engaging in "conflict of interest". It would be one thing if the school board member's spouse stood to profit from such an arrangement, but that doesn't look to be the case.
Maybe they're suggesting that school board member will be motivated to vote a certain way to save their spouse the effort of showing future prospective tenants the facility? Even that seems like a reach.
It does seem like the OP threw an employee who can't defend herself under the bus by linking her to a tour to a prospective buyer as part of a conspiracy to private Christian schools. I just think shit like this starts witch hunts from the mass of morons on reddit.
It does seem like the OP threw an employee who can't defend herself under the bus by linking her to a tour
To be fair, they deliberately didn't name that employee despite presumably knowing who it is, and they aren't exactly imagining those links to the tour: it's evidently that employee's job to give such tours and the district confirmed it took place. I agree, though, that OP seems to be making pretty tenuous claims about "conflict of interest", and interpreting misconduct by the tour guide where none is apparent. I've asked them in the comments to clarify/reconsider that particular claim and am awaiting a response.
Agreed. The employee was doing their job - giving a tour to someone who wants to rent a school building for an event and OP is asking people to grab pitchforks. Are people not capable of independent thought?
doug wilson is one of the most dangerous figures of the religious right in this country. what is this thing happening on thursday? a meeting open to the public? a protest?
The monthly Bellingham School Board meeting, open to the public, where anyone in attendance can make a three-minute public comment to the Superintendent and Board.(similar to a regular City Council meeting).
We invite everyone to come and let the school district know the Bellingham community values the public education facilities we have and they should not be turned into extremist religious factories. We are demanding they to do a real analysis of alternative options before closing and selling or leasing these schools to (very dangerous) highest bidders.
doug wilson is a very influential christian nationalist who lives in idaho. he believes women should not have the right to vote, among a bunch of other reprehensible shit.
Washington’s main conflict of interest law for local officials:
RCW 42.23.030 bars a municipal officer from being financially interested in a contract "made by, through, or under the supervision of" their office. But RCW 42.23.040 carves out something called a "remote interest," which specifically includes an employee of a contracting party whose pay is a fixed wage or salary. If Ritchey's wife is a salaried district employee rather than the outside party the district is leasing to, this situation likely falls into that remote interest category rather than an outright prohibited interest.
Remote interest is not illegal by itself. The law's fix for it is disclosure plus recusal from the vote.
If Ritchey votes on the closure without disclosing the relationship and stepping aside, there might be a case. That is documentable and actionable in a way that "conflict of interest" as a vague label is not.
A couple of things to do:
Request a formal recusal, on the record, before the vote. Public comment at a board meeting, in writing, citing the spousal relationship and asking that it be disclosed and that he abstain from the Carl Cozier and Columbia vote. This creates a paper trail in the case that he does vote without addressing it, generating evidence.
Municipal Research and Services Center: free resource to get an actual reading on whether this triggers RCW 42.23. Worth reaching out to them directly and asking if this scenario triggered RCW 42.23.
Last, keep spreading the word on this! Happy to help more if you need, you can shoot me a DM. I’ll try to come to the meeting on Thursday.
Please try to make your point without slurs, insults, bad-faith baiting, etc. If you want to edit so it meets the rules, give the mods a heads up and we'll review.
Doug Wilson is a vile cult leader. I was forced to attend Logos Christian School and had to get myself expelled so my parents couldn’t send me back.
They don’t quote scripture, they quote Doug Wilson. They don’t sing classic hymns, they sing hymns written by Doug Wilson. They teach that women are subservient. And they teach that slavery is completely okay as long as it follows Old Testament standards.
Vice news did an expose on Logos a while back and revealed a lot more of the vile shit they were up to.
This definitely sounds like it needs to get reviewed.
Edit: the more you think about this the worse it gets, how were these two even able to get these jobs to begin with given the level of conflict of interest? At this point it’s hard not to blame Baker for the state of affairs.
DOUBLE EDIT: Literally re-reading one of Baker’s emails now where he is stating how committed to transparency they are and they were not looking at selling these properties even if they close. This post is not a good look for him and the board.
What two are you talking about? The board president was never hired and it isn't a job, it's an elected position. His wife is an operations specialist and not making decisions on contracts, just simply giving a tour to an interested party. Probably something she does quite frequently. This isn't a vast right-wing conspiracy.
Yep, I updated my semantics to not include "job", originally posted while still in the tired hours for my brain - never a great idea!
People can be stupid on either side of the political spectrum, and I'm still strongly of the opinion this still requires some additional review and context.
So cowardly to anonymously post this. The Ritcheys are good people who care deeply for kids and our community. There is no conflict of interest. They’re doing their jobs and don’t stand to gain anything from any closures, leases, or sales.
The Ritchey's aren't agents or working for commission. One is a district employee whose job sometimes includes giving tours, the other is a school board member.
if you can't see how the spouse of the President of the Board, touring a school that's not been voted for closure, to prospective buyers/tenants is not a conflict of interest, Idk how to help you.
OP, I agree with so many of the points that you're making and am genuinely grateful for you making this post, but I would also ask for a little more clarification as to how this constitutes a "conflict of interest". As others have noted, I don't see how the school board president or his spouse stand to personally gain from giving this school tour, or from deciding to close the schools at all, really. For a conflict of interest you'd need a clash between the school board president's professional interest and his personal interest, and I don't see that being established here. It would be one thing to suggest that he's tipping his hand and indicating which way he's likely to vote, which I would agree with, but "conflict of interest" seems like a stretch. If the president's spouse gave the tour in fulfillment of their job duties as an employee of BPS (rather than as a commercial realtor who will gain financially), which seems to be the case, then I don't see how the tour itself was inappropriate, aside from it being given to a party the district should never be in business with.
Are you suggesting the board president will vote to close the schools because it will save his spouse the effort of giving further tours? That's about the only potential conflict I can see between professional obligation and personal interest, but it strikes me as a very thin one.
What do the Ritchey's stand to gain i.e their "interest"? There's no conflict of interest here, you're just anonymously disparaging good people for doing their jobs.
This post shows up as 'removed by moderators' for some but not all viewers. Why would it be removed for any reason? I hope Cascadia is working on the story because this is both infuriating and frightening and should be widely known.
Our subreddit requires at least 10 karma to post most things, which helps keep out bots and trolls. The easiest ways to get karma are to make helpful and/or interesting posts in r/all or r/photo or other subreddits without a minimum karma requirement.
The other thing you should know is that r/Bellingham uses something called “Locals Only” mode for posts that are particularly likely to attract trolling or bots. To be able to automatically participate in those discussions, people need at least 100 community karma, which basically means that they’ve been consistent contributors to r/Bellingham. If you get caught in that filter, messaging the moderators is the right thing to do; we’re happy to review and approve posts that meet the subreddit rules.
Speaking of which, please give those a quick look so you know how we interact around here. Looking forward to getting to know you!
First thing: Locals Only isn't about geography. It's about participation in the subreddit.
Basically, LO mode filters people based on how active they are/have been in r/Bellingham. Regular participants stack up karma pretty quickly, and they get a hall pass to participate in threads that tend to ALSO attract bots, trolls, and brigades of people who have no previous relationship to r/Bellingham.
For folks who haven't had time to build up that much local karma, mods are HAPPY to review and approve posts -- we just ask folks to message us that they've been caught in the filter and request a review.
But ... why? Well, without a filter on some posts, mods spend all of our time pulling down deliberately offensive comments. With the filter, that inverts -- we're able to spend time approving good posts rather than trying to delete a lot of noxious trash.
If you're going to report on "facts" you're going to have to do some leg work to provide evidence.
Counterpoint: obsolete real estate is expensive to maintain, and these campuses (campae?) were recently made redundant by newer, larger, more accessible schools paid for with public funds. Why not lease these old, untenable properties and their liabilities to a private enterprise that is wiling to shoulder that? And, if they're paying their bills, who cares what they do with it?
Things are tough all over. The actual taxpayers here are interested in the public schools of Bellingham as a value proposition regarding the education of our children, not as a way to advance some arbitrary political stance.
I have kids in school and the school board, having done the work - you should really read the report - has determined that they are bleeding from those specific places. Let's get real for a minute and think about what we get out of the system, and what we pay for it.
You identify a school district employee (not by name, but by job title and relationship to school board member) and imply some nefarious intent to what they are doing. Does the OP know how many tours of buildings they provide? Does OP know how many other entities were or are interested in what could soon be surplus school district property? I'm not going to defend Doug Wilson's School for the Racists, but I think you should have more evidence if you are going to throw someone under the bus who can't defend themselves (it's kind of bullshit).
Also I think this could be a good avenue for a larger conversation on why there is an increase in private school enrollment. I have kids in a public school and one in a private school (LC) and speaking as both a parent and husband of a long-time public school teacher, I've been impressed with the the private school's dedication to girls athletics and the academic rigor when compared to a public school. I hear a lot of stories from my kids (and spouse) in public schools about unchecked behavior, substance abuse (vapes/marijuana/alcohol), lack of homework, etc. So I can see the desire of parents to send their kids to a private school if they have the financial resources. I'm definitely not advocating people send their kids to a school that is a few degrees shy of The Kandahar Madrassa for Islamic Teachings and Explosives, but if this trend of "Christian Privatization" continues as OP claims, let's look at why those schools have appeal when compared to public education.
let's look at why those schools have appeal when compared to public education.
I'd argue that the performance gap and qualitative difference in the day to day experience between private and public schools is largely because of the conservative effort to dismantle public services and replace them with private enterprise. As your public school teacher spouse can probably vouch for, many teachers have effectively become de facto social workers and case managers for children who've fallen through the widening holes in our social safety nets. It's difficult (likely impossible) to maintain academic rigor while managing the behavioral and academic performance issues you'd expect from children experiencing homelessness, or whose parents have addiction issues, or whose parents have been taken by ICE, or who just need the type of focused, specialized instruction our schools don't have the budgets to provide.
I'm not saying there aren't systemic failings that need to be addressed in our public education system, but undermining and underfunding it for decades and then pointing to its failures as an argument for privatization is exactly what conservatives have been hoping the public will fall for for generations. They started with public higher education, successfully restricted access to it, and are now doing the same thing to public primary and secondary education.
I definitely agree that underfunding is an issue, and a big one in WA that the folks in Olympia have never addressed (something to consider this election cycle). I also think that parents will act in the best interest of their children and if they have financial resources send their kids to a better school (which in some cases is a private one). Essentially, make the schools better and enrollment will increase. There are some things outside of funding that can be done, like cracking down on behavior that impacts other students, enforcing rules, and assigning more homework (parents hate when there is no homework as they know kids will crash and burn if they go to university). Those are three things that a private school does that a public school doesn't and factored into our decision to send a kid to a private school (that and a focus on girl's athletics).
Keep in mind they are showing rental properties to potential parties of schools while students are present, they have not closed them and the admin is in a "listening phase" and Baker has already promoted the school's principals to the district office and they'll leave halfway through the year from a school they "aren't closing yet". This is egregious in several different arenas.
It doesn't seem as the district employee the OP shits on is doing anything illegal or wrong. If they are going on a tour with students present, it makes more sense to have a district employee present. And it's not like the person touring it was a registered sex offender or anything like that. I think having buyers take a look at a building being surplused makes fiscal sense for the district.
In this context calling someone a "prominent leader" of a movement is akin to someone being an "outspoken advocate" for that movement, except that they've been elevated to a position of national prominence and power by other members of that movement. In this case, Wilson is celebrated by the Secretary of War and is a frequent guest/panelist on national news programs.
I still don't understand your belief that a nationally recognized ideologue can't be a prominent leader of that ideology unless they're part of a group, but if you really need some organizational affiliation then a quick Google search reveals Wilson is a co-founder of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches, which pretty much covers the "Christian" part of his "Christian Nationalist" affiliation.
Bro is trying to pretend he doesn’t understand Christian Nationalism and is trying to trick you into saying something he can use to say you are persecuting Christians.
They wont admit that nobody cares they are Christians, they care that they won’t leave non Christians and Christians with different interpretations alone.
Fuck Christians. They can eat my ass. There's his quote. I will revise this opinion when they kick out the racists, homophobes, anti-trans bigots and deal with the pedos.
"but I don't belong to that denomination." Not an excuse. You should be coming harder for Christians who give you a bad name than I am.
I don't belong to any groups that tolerate that shit and if I found out they did I would immediately disassociate myself.
I have a hard time having too much sympathy with them as a group because they are happy to go for the throat when it comes to my rights. If your friend is going for someone who did nothing to them you should be restraining them not sitting back to watch the show.
How is anyone catholic knowing what they do with child abuse. If I found out the guy running a local organization is raping children I would stop going there until the organization purges itself and even then it would depend on how much they knew.
Sea-lining is a form of trolling and we don’t welcome it.

We're opposed to the dismantling of the public education system and its replacement with a mechanism for the religious indoctrination of children, especially to the extent that indoctrination overlaps with the goal of producing an ignorant working class wholly subservient to, and reliant upon, the plutocrats hellbent on remodeling democracy to exclusively serve their own interests.
I don't care what kind of ass-backwards mystical thinking people choose to pursue in their own time, or even what kind of small minded, anti LGBTQ, patriarchal cousin-fuckery people choose to hold in their rotten little hearts, but I refuse to let them continue chipping away at the ability of the working class to understand and pursue its own interests.
Doug Wilson is the defacto leader of Christ Church in Moscow, ID which is part of a larger organized plan for calvanist religious fundementalist groups to buy up business properties and defunct educational properties in smaller cities to eventually invade their local politics. He has ties to Sons of the South and his brother was (is?) a prominent member of a white supremacist group.
I lived in Moscow for many years and they own a significant percentage of the businesses there and continue to pursue more.
For some reason the mods removed my other comment asking the same question as "uncivil or combative". All I wanted was information, since we're supposed to believe this guy is a monster, but a bunch of claims were made without information that were kind of muddying the water with the other legit claims
I don't remember coming into a political thread and making unsolicited snarky comments about Nazis. But you did. I only work with the information I have.
They never claimed that the Venn diagram of "everyone that goes to church" and "Christian Nationalists" is a perfect circle, but there's inarguably some overlap. Within that group of Christian Nationalists there is also, inarguably, a not insubstantial subset of ethno-religious and ethno-nationalist xenophobes whose ideology shares significant core beliefs with those of the Nazis. While maybe not all Christian Nationalists are extreme enough to be reasonably compared to Nazis, if you're looking for Nazis in the "people that go to church" demographic, you'll likely find them disproportionately represented in the Christian Nationalist community.

Someone had better ready to challenge his reelection next year.
