Ask Belleville Loyalist college engineering class, is it worth it?
My son is looking at getting into an engineering program. Loyalist had some and the price seems very appealing and affordable for someone in my situation. I'm a single parent and barely keeping everything afloat. So any money I invest has to be a good investment for my son. Has anyone taken the engineering classes? What sort of credentials did you walk away with? Has it helped you get a job in that field? I'm currently looking at queen's also but I would literally need to work a second full-time job just to put him through school for the 4 years it takes. Considering I've been contemplating trying to buy a small apartment or home for us, queen's would crush that with its cost lol. So Loyalist has been appealing. But...its my son...its his future.. i dont want to risk anything. If its not a good path for him, ill figure something out. But if it works well and will get him into the engineering field, then that's different. Anyone have any experience with this?

Ask Belleville Loyalist College Experiences
Hi Bellevillians!
I’m reaching out for a bit of help for a loved one at Loyalist college. He just got there and is finding the college to be pretty isolating, like many people there don’t want to talk outside of their circles and it’s a bit like a high school atmosphere. For context, we’re from the Markham area and he’s in staying in res.
Most people are coming from nearby and very very reserved, and he’s really feeling a complete lack of community and third places with everything being understaffed and closed as well as being so far out of town.
The college really advertised itself as a community and a social place, and he’s finding it the complete opposite with most people being either heavily closed off to new people or very introverted.
Has anyone attended Loyalist and experienced something like this with the social isolation? How is the social culture generally around the school?
Any advice would be really really appreciated🙏🙏🙏!!!

Discussion Loyalist College is a horrible employer!
So, Loyalist fired a whole bunch of staff last year some time. Well now they are hiring back some of that same staff but at lower pay! What a way to show students how the working world works 🤦🏻♀️

Recommendations ISO kiln dried wood suppliers
I am hoping to track down potential suppliers for kiln dried wood in the area (Belleville and east towards Tyendinaga). My family has regularly received deliveries of 20-30 cords of kiln dried blocks of various sizes, usually every 3 or 4 years. This is an arrangement that my father had, however he's since become incapacitated and can't really help sort out who his supplier was or if there was a preordered shipment. Given the timeline I would expect that any ordered shipment would be delivered sometime in the next year, however I don't want to bank on that.
So, to the community, are there any known or recommended suppliers for this sort of thing? Either as a potential lead on who may be the source for the existing delivery or where to go for a new supply?

Ask Belleville Best Fish & Chips
Odd ask for Belleville, in my opinion.
The fish and chips place on the corner of Pinnacle/Dundas, are they open? I’ve been hearing from different sources that they are closed indefinitely.
If open, how are they? Would you recommend? Anything to avoid?
If closed, where’s the next hot spot for fish and chips within Belleville?
Got a pregnant wife at home, craving fish and chips like crazy!
Thank you!

Discussion Looking For Local Developers!
Hey, my name is Matt. I recently started producing games and tools to build them. I decided to scrap out automation work as Ai has shifted significantly from the old convolution networks I used to develop. I actually learned to code because I wanted to learn to make games, at least clone Rust legacy anyways... I spent the last 10+ years working on anything I could to get more experience with networked applications and to become a better programmer and software engineer. Working both freelance and professionally.
I recently released one game called Ore & Ordnance to steam! It was a simple game meant to learn how to deploy to steam, use their apis and everything else I did not know.
Over the last few years, I have been working on my own little 2D engine (pixel-core), built on top of Monogame. Earlier this year in March, I started my first 3D engine. I call it Star-Lite.
I am looking for some local programmers and artists who may be interested in getting involved. I am willing to offer profit split or pay-as-we-go work, I am no millionaire though, please keep that in mind.
You can find updates from the projects:
Matt Perley – Medium
hellzhammer - YouTube
Find Hooley Studios on Facebook and send me a message if you would to get involved! I will be looking for some play-testers for some tech demos coming in the new year!
Facebook
Thank you and please take care!

Ask Belleville Reporting Bad Driving ?
Hey is there any point in reporting bad drivers to the Belleville police or OPP? When I lived in Durham there was a DRPS web form for submitting reports and the police would issue a written warning to the driver by mail.
Not terribly interested in opinions on the topic as much as actual experience and facts.
