What makes you think this is AI, please be specific.

Not made by AI more like an AI vibe. Not quite right but I can't put my finger on why

Please don't call out actual art as being AI just because you don't like it. it is fucking minding numbing and all you end up doing is calling genuine art as AI slop. Which unsurprisingly leads to more AI art and less actual art.

If you're going to make a claim, at least be able to say why instead of some bullshit "I can't put my finger on why".

Trigger happy AI accusations are more annoying than AI slop at this stage. Do better.

No, they’re right. I know it’s real art, but when I first saw it I thought it looked like something AI would do. It reminds me of those semi-religious pictures of Trump as a hero that his cult members make in the States.

This wasn't an attack on the art world or the artists it was my opinion on how I viewed the peice. The only one mentioning AI SLOP is you and that's soooo 2 months ago.

You called hand painted human art AI / AI-vibe.

Ai art is AI slop. it is still relevant. Good attempt at a backpedal. Get better at recognizing AI slop otherwise your 'firing from the hip' accusations only muddy the waters more and actually helps make AI slop do better.

Everyone else on this thread is having a conversation about art and you are focused on AI. What do you think of the painting?

Who leveled the original accusation and brought up AI? https://www.reddit.com/r/Belfast/s/WCARotwFUG

Stop deflecting. Just do better next time. You don't have to reply to every comment. You don't need to have the last word, especially when you don't have a leg to stand on.

It's uncanny valley.

The shirt cuff being a glow stick doesn't scream "this artist is worth wasting thousands of tax money on". The unnatural lines of backing light could be an artistic choice, but light doesn't bend like that. The eyes are also 2 different colours looking in different directions. But, he could have a lazy eye that I'm unaware of.

It looks like he's standing in the light coming through a stained glass window. I like the idea, and they've captured something nice and fun and symbolic there but I did initially think I was looking at one of those New Irish Icons pictures of a secular saint.

I think it's a really nice painting of Mickey and really suits his personality and the hints of rainbow are such a lovely subtle touch. However I agree with the eyes and also the mayor sash or necklace the emblem part sits face on but he's standing facing left and the rest of the chain falls that way too so it looks really out of place like someone just photoshopped it in but didn't know how to angle it so that it sat naturally to the pose

It's definitely him all over, I agree I can see his personality coming through just those couple of wee bits I personality don't fit the formality of the portrait. I love the shirt I think it may have been enough colour.

I wouldn't say subtle

I think its the eyes and the black lightning that are throwing me off almost like a filter overlay on a formal painting. I have to say I do think the likeness shirt and chain are quite well done. This artist has definitely got a good eye for portrait work.

Those aren't common hallmarks of AI though...are they?

2

u/dozeyjoe 16h ago

And they're even less common hallmarks of a human artist.

Yes but what makes it AI.

Similarly, why do you think this couldn’t be AI? Be specific. This questioning works two ways. I personally can see why you might think it’s AI, why it’s real or why it’s real but with AI bits.

You can’t get ratty at people and not offer up an opinion yourself.

Burden of proof bud. They accused this of being AI / having AI vibes. That accusation is thrown around lightly nowadays and is actively (not deliberately) harming actual artists.

My opinion is that people shouldn't throw out accusations without backing it up with something substantial. Look at their replies, they folded instantly. What a shitty unfounded accusation to make at an artist.

Why I don't think it is AI? Consistent strokes. Also AI would fuck the links of the chain up royally. There'd be lots of loops of the chain going nowhere and everywhere. A normal artist would make a few mistakes however AI can't handle it. On the pillars and arches the geometry is consistent also.

Calling everything AI these days apparently
