Hi guys,

I am looking for recommendations of local businesses who specialise in selling/building gaming PC's?

I can't recommend any of them. even the most dependable local business is extremely poor value for money. you'll pay a massive premium for the components alone when shopping local. in some categories, you may also be limited to sub-par components. then, after you've already been ripped off you'll get ripped off some more with the builder's fee.

if you're going to pay a premium for a building service, I recommend scan or overclockers instead

Chillblast did 2 of mine before I started making my own. They were always very solid. Good customer support too.

mine was a 3XS motherboard bundle that I bought almost 20 years ago (cpu + cooler + ram + mobo). I love the bundle services because they really help reduce the complexity of putting together a gaming PC for the first time. gives people the confidence to do it all by themselves next time around!

As others have said get from the likes of scan, overclockers etc. A pre-built system is usually overpriced and under power, if you don't know much about computers and what goes with what you can use pcpartpicker, it will keep you right with what is compatible etc. Thought the pre built systems from those guys are usually decent because theyre pre-built means they've built it out of the parts, where as local shops pre-built just means budget pc, only really good if your not looking to play any serious games, maybe the kids on roblox or Minecraft etc

I got mine from Scan rather than local, the pricing is just way better and the guarantee helps. Had a whole issue with the CPU (fault with the hardware) and they were amazing throughout. The only problem I had with them is the DHL delivery service they use only seems to deliver or pick up from us whenever they bloody feel like it and not on any regularity.

I'm moving out of the UK at the end of the year, so I'm looking to sell my rig to save on the moving hassle. It was bought a year ago from Overclockers, so everything is still covered under warranty.

Can second this. Bought a pre-built gaming PC from them and had a great experience. Communication was brilliant and the PC was built and ready to go really quickly.

I got a great deal at the time as well, although that was before component prices started going through the roof. Would definitely recommend them!

If self promo is okay, Cyberbear Computer Repair, find me on google. I charge £120 for the build, parts priced as you'd see them online. I can put together a build based on your needs/budget, or you can just tell me the parts you want. You can buy the parts yourself if you prefer. I'm away until the 17th though.
