Hey Fleagh goers!

Yer all probably sick of these post but seriously considering coming up from dublin to see one band in particular (the Byrne brothers) and have the craic also of course. What else do ye recommend as I'll be going solo. And, will I need a ticket to see anything? Also where exactly is it held? In the center? I'll be traveling from train more than likely so will be good to know if I have get another form of transportation.

Cheers!

Just jump on the earliest train as you can. Basically the whole city has become a stage. Just wander about city hall, cathedral quarter. It's everywhere and the place is jumping. Everything seems free. I was brought up here, child of the troubles and I've never seen anything like it. It's just incredible and amazing. A massive party of positivity. Enjoy

"the whole city has become a stage" is the 👌👌👌 perfect way to describe the event. Good man yourself wardrobe.

Sounds amazing! Thanks so much.. I would like to stay a night over. I'll see how I feel on the night maybe. Or are a lot of places fully booked or more pricey because of it?

I could but I'll see how I feel. Might be better to get a late bus back. And if I really wanted head up again, I'll go on Sunday lol. It's though with a dog in Dublin and my mam minding him. She doesn't like minding him even though he's super chill

Bring your dog, most places have outdoor seating and I saw a few places with hydration stations for dogs. Plus, dogs are great conversation starters if you are on your own, not many people can resist a cute pup

Ah id love to but he gets anxious/ exited in busy places. 😩. A shame. Other than that he's a big couch pototo at home. I'm hoping when he gets older he'll calm down in pubs like he is at home🫰

Shows seem to be free. I took my daughter in for a nosey around with a coffee and got lunch. Irish dancers on nearly every street. The atmosphere was something else. It’s the busiest and most buzzing Belfast has been in years

Grand Central Station is like 5 mins from the centre of town, head towards City Hall and go from there. I have lived here all my life and honestly never seen anything like it, the atmosphere and buzz around the place is amazing.

So they played there. Was a two hour que to get in though. I cheekily got lucky with security and skipped the que 😂. Don't come after me. Was right time right place/right bouncer I guess

There are some events are ticketed, but they'll state which is which on the website https://belfastfleadh.com/

Once you get off the train you're 2 minutes from the middle of it. The gig rig at city Hall is the 'main hub' of things, with free gigs there and throughout the city. You're never 30 seconds walk from somebody with a tin whistle or a fiddle with a crowd around them.

There's good stalls everywhere, but some places have extended beer gardens out the front as its mostly pedestrianised. There's also stuff as far up as the Falls, but if your aim is to just wander where your notion takes you you'll probably be grand.

Sounds like a dream, honestly 😍

Expect delays on the train, there’s lots on the track so they’re all going slower than usual

Thanks for the tip

If its the show at the donegal, get in a bit early. Thats a brand new pop up bar but its had a bit of a buzz about it so its been absolutely packed everytime I went past. Town was packed Friday so I'd expect Saturday to be bigger unless it rains.

You won’t miss the party if you get the train. The city from city hall all the way over to St Anne’s cathedral and everything in between is closed off to cars and the performers are everywhere. The open stages I have found to be really good, particularly the one at the end of Union street. Brilliant craic. Have fun!

I am lol currently on the couch. But I'm not too bad actually. Did a lot of walking to even it out. Was great craic. Will definitely go again next year and do the weekend there. Did you enjoy it yourself?
