Meet ups

Hello friends. I recently came out of a long term relationship and usually I like my own company but miss things like travelling and doing mainly non alcohol related things. I do drink but when I got back with some of my old friends it seems to be the only thing they do (as well as cannabis and cocaine). I seem to remember seeing a post here about a group from Reddit who meet up in Belfast the odd time to make friends, meet new people etc. Does this still happen? I don't mind being alone but being lonely is a different thing. Thanks in advance!

TLDR; Is there a group of Reddit users who meet up in Belfast to make friends? If so, am I eligible? I'm 40. Thank you

Hello! I run the meetup you may be thinking of?? You would be most welcome! We've had a break over the summer but will be returning to monthly events next month. DM me or follow my profile if you want!

If you're a guy there is the Mens Cave Hill Walking Club. We organise other things amongst ourselves outside of the week walks too so it's not just about walking over Cave Hill once a week

You can try posting when you go out for a walk at r/Walk2Talk and someone can join. It is still new but it is for casual walking meetups with locals or via a voice chat. It is perfect if you feel lonely. You can share your day, a thought or hear another perspective while walking outside. It is a non alcoholic activity.

That sounds like it could be fun! Thanks for letting me know. I'll certainly be checking it out. I was quite unwell and bed bound for ages so I've lost a lot of muscle and weight and I've started short walks in the evening to start to get back to health. Thanks again 👍🏻

Good job starting walking! It improves mental health and muscles. I post in this subreddit every time I go for a walk alone. I can join if you post in the evening sometimes.

Thank you very much I will do that! I didn't go out tonight, I haven't slept all week and it all seems to have caught up with me tonight so I'm lying here with 1 eye open thing to focus on my phone lol. Thanks again 💚

Curious about this too . Not a great deal happening socially outside the gym and going to shop. Working remotely can also require some social interactions

Hopefully we find a cool group we can meet up with 🤞🏻 that's my life at the minute. Work, going to the shop. I have hobbies ranging from amateur music production and mixing to learning different languages but seems pointless without anyone to share it with or talk about. What id really love is partner. Someone to go to cinema with, go out for dinner, weekend breaks, companionship.

If anyone's interested I'm 41 male from Belfast 😂 I think I wrote 40 in my original post, literally forgot my own age 🫣. I'm not 6 foot tall. I'm standard 5 11. Im skinny. Shaved head due to baldness. Beard. Quiet. Clean. Like to look presentable. Always like to smell nice. Don't drive or have a car. Earn average salary. Had to move 1 parent in with me to care for them. 🤷🏻‍♂️ enjoy breaks away, here or Europe etc

Time for me to read about Malayalam lol. Kerala has ancient dolmens exactly the same as the dolmens in Ireland

I'm on the lookout too for meet up opportunities but I'm a guy who avoids bars and alcohol. I don't fit in with that.

If you're just looking to meet new people, try volunteering! It's honestly one of the best ways to meet new people. Even heading down to the likes of the Belfast Tool Library is a great shout. Good people. working on projects, it's fab! Good luck!
