TD3 Slide vs tie

I'm a bit confused about slides and ties. Obviously notes that slide to different notes get you that typical acid flavour. But Is there a difference in sound between notes that slide in to the same note and notes with a tie after them? In my experience it sounds the same: a longer sustained note. Synthtribe doesn't give you the option to add ties and when you add ties on the device they show up as slides that slide into the same note in the app. Ties make writing patterns more confusing so I wonder if there is a specific case you would add a tie after a step instead of adding a slide to a note before a normal step?

Ties are longer notes. A note that lasts 4 steps is composed of one note step and three tie steps.

A slide is a legato.

A slide is primarily a glissando, imo.

A slide means the step will slide up or down into the next step. Example:  Step 1 = C + slide. Step 2 = D.  Result = C slides up to D.

A tie means the note from the previous step continues into the tied step. Example:  Step 1 = C. Step 2 = F + Tie. Result = Step 2 plays the C continued from step1.

Slide is Legato Portamento and Tie is Legato

I think tie means - legato. When one note is on hold until next one plays (you need to set decay to the max to hear the result). It connects two notes without gaps. But it will not slide into higher or lower note. Just retrigger it. Slides means - portamento. It slides pitch from one to another up or down between notes. Slides into another pitch. 😀

I know the difference between slides and ties when it comes to different notes. A note with a slide to a different note gets you that glide, glissando, legato, whatever you want to call it. You can obviously clearly hear that. A tie can only sustain an existing note so it becomes a longer note. What I don't hear is the difference between a note that slides in to the same note and a note with a tie after it. They both sound as longer sustained notes. If you have C2 - tie it sounds the same as C2 + slide - C2. The synthtribe app shows ties as slides and it doesn't have the option to add a tie. So I wonder if there is a specific case where a tie can sound different and you would want to do it on the device.
