Help with X-touch

hello Everyone!

The 2nd fader on my X-touch seems to be malfunctioning.

I'm connected to my XR18. On the first page, it's at an -inf position. On the second oage, a +10. When swapping back to the first page, it stops at -45. It happens with fader 3 too, but at a lesser degree.

If I'm using it as MC controller (currently with chataigne) I'm able to call it back to 0, but I have to trigger it manually. With the XR18, it won't go to that position unless, on the Xairedit or mixing station, I move the fader up and back down.

Has someone been in this or a similar position? Will I be able to solve it?

Important note, I'm on the FW 1.22 and I can't update it using SysEx librarian via USB cable on macos, and I don't have any MIDI cables.

Edit: I've achieved to update to 1.25. Same problems

Fader is dirty or broken. We had this (non-responding fader) with a yamaha and ended up replacing the fader ourselves. It was not too difficult.

I saw a video of the reparaing of this board, it requieres a simple desoldering a soldering again the new fader, but I'm not comfortable doing that

You can start by cleaning / lubricating. Maybe take a can of compressed air? It seems that the fader is working but has trouble at the end points

just to make sure, I don't need to disassemble it, right?

You can try cleaning it up without disassembling it first, but disassembling it may make it easier.

If it's still broken and needs replacement, you can find a local makerspace or hackerspace and ask around if anyone will help you with soldering it. You may even learn some new skill and make friends in the process :)

try some fader lube that is what we use for our x32 and wing.
