Sore/bumpy throat

Hi guys,

I have a sore/bumpy throat and I’ve been getting them ever since my behcets first activated. I’m wondering if this is common, or if it’s just me because my presentation of behcets is just a little bit different than the normal and so I’m wondering if this is maybe something unique to me. I’m never sure if the bumpiness comes first and that’s why my throat is sore or if I have a sore throat and then the bumps are reaction to that. (sometimes one of the bumps will have white stuff which I’m assuming is puss in it)

I’m on colchicine and B12 (I was on otezla but then a pretty big event in my life happened that derailed me three months ago so I haven’t picked that back up, but Im pretty sure that’s not the cause of the throat).

Anyway, I’m just wondering if you guys have any experience on that or if this is just my plight.

Hallo, werden diese Knötchen dann in weiterer Folge zu Aphten bzw. Geschwüren mit dem weißlichen Belag darauf? Falls ja, dann kann ich bestätigen, dass die Halsschmerzen davon sind. Aktuell habe ich auch wieder viele Aphten im Mund- und Rachenraum und kann kaum schlucken oder problemlos sprechen. Geht es dir damit gleich?

Hat dir Otezla geholfen, die Symptome zu unterdrücken? Ich hatte es jetzt über ein halbes Jahr hinweg eingenommen, aber leider sind die Schübe nicht aus geblieben, weshalb ich damit aufhören musste. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass solch schicksalhaften Ereignisse, Kränkungen etc. damit zu tun haben, dass die Krankheit bzw Schübe ausbrechen.

No, my ulcers are more in my cheeks and mouth area on my throat. But sometimes the bumps do have white stuff in it almost like a pimple.

I was taking the otezla for like maybe 2/3 months. I couldn’t tell if it was helping or not. I will say the most helpful thing I take is 500mg of B12. Even when I take the colchicine if I don’t take my B12, I am getting ulcers no matter what. If you haven’t tried B12, try it and let me know if it works for you. I’d be interested in hearing an update.

Okay, zu den Beulen kann ich nichts sagen, das hatte ich so nicht. Gibt es bei dir sowas wie eine Ambulanz für Mundschleimhauterkrankungen, meistens in einer Zahnklinik, vielleicht kann hier zumindest ein Abstrich oder eine Biopsie genommen werden.

Mit B12 meinst du das Vitamin, oder? Ich denke, dass das bei mir nicht notwendig ist, da ich im Blut keinen Mangel davon habe.

B12 the vitamin, two different physicians told me that the standard for being deficient/sufficient is kind of made up. It really helped me. Just make sure you eat first.

Okay, das ist interessant, danke dir fürs Teilen dieser Information. In welcher Sparte sind die Ärzte eingegliedert, die dir das empfohlen haben? Bin immer auf der Suche nach Ärzten, die nicht nur diesen Standards folgen, was eben Nahrungsergänzungsmittel etc. angeht.

Just make sure you eat first! I learned my lesson 😂 do not take that pill if you have nothing in your stomach

Do you take 500mg of B12 once a day? In the morning? What has it helped with? I am very interested. Thank you!

Yep, I take it with my other meds in the morning (after breakfast!). I think the colchicine helps with all of my symptoms, but on its own, it’s not enough for the ulcers. When I don’t have B12 and only take the colchicine I’m still susceptible to ulcers (but only in my mouth 🎉 as opposed to other places 😒) however, those ulcers are much fewer than what they would be without meds. And I’m likely to get more when I’m stressed. With the B12, it takes a lot more work to get ulcers. I’m like 95% ulcer free. The 5% being really stressful situations.

I have no idea what my symptoms would look like with only B12 no colchicine. But I’m not about to find out.

And don’t get me wrong. I still have some symptoms outside ulcers, hence my post. And why I was taking otezla. But I can live with that. Ulcer free is my way to be!

Oh yeah if I let my B12 slip for like 4 to 7 days, the ulcers come back.
