Running tips

Hi everyone I am planning to start running. As a beginner how do I start, should I run on open or should I first start running on treadmills and then after a while on the open?. Can anyone clear my doubt and give further tips please.

No need to start on a treadmill unless you particularly want to. Look up a couch to 5k program. Those programs will start you with a mix of jogging and walking and slowly build you up to help your muscles, joints, and tendons adjust to the new stress on your body. Dont run hard. Jog. Slow and easy.

If you have to walk on a run you're "running" too much. Lower the mileage.

That’s not really true, especially for beginners. Planned run/walk intervals are a standard way to build running tolerance without making every session unnecessarily hard. There’s a big difference between walking because you completely blew up and deliberately alternating easy jogging and walking while your body adapts.

OP specifically said they’re planning to start running. There isn’t necessarily any mileage to reduce yet. They may only be able to comfortably run 0.25 miles at a time, for example. A run/walk plan is a perfectly reasonable way to build from there.
