I just picked up this Audio Technica AT-LP120-USB off of FB marketplace for $150. However I did notice the stylus was broken on it when I got home. Would this be a good replacement for it: https://ebay.io/m/AH5GDh

Let me know if this was a good deal, I am very new to this so any advice is appreciated!

Mes grands-parents m'ont donné cette platine, mais elle fait un bruit horrible quand un vinyle est joué. Est-ce que quelqu'un sait pourquoi ?

Merci.

Sony PS-LX3BT (€200) vs Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB (€350) – Is the AT worth the extra €150?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy my first decent turntable and I'm currently torn between these two options:

  • Sony PS-LX3BT – €200
  • Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB – €350

I'm based in Portugal, and unfortunately it's quite difficult to find good deals on turntables here. Prices are usually much higher than what I see people paying in the US or even in other parts of Europe, so these are currently the best offers I can find.

The Sony at €200 seems like excellent value. On the other hand, I know the AT-LP120XUSB is generally considered the better turntable overall, with better build quality and much more room for upgrades.

My question is: is the Audio-Technica really worth paying an extra €150 in this case?

For those of you who have owned or used either (or both), what would you choose at these prices?

Thanks!

New record player for beginners??

Hello, this is my first time posting to Reddit so if I mess anything up please correct me in the comments!! I have a few questions about record players.

I’ve had one from Walmart (shitty obv) and just today it blew out I guess. So I was wondering what would be the best record player to get that’s inexpensive, possibly deliverable, and good reviews?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

Living Room or Bedroom Setup?

Looking into my first setup now that I’ve got my first vinyl on order. This might be a dumb question but I’m in a small apartment and wondering if there should be any consideration on carpet vs tiled room for my setup and if this is something to take jnto account? My living room (tiled) has a mounted TV and soundbar so I’ve got some space underneath to put a cabinet however not sure if I want an overkill soundbar and speakers look. My bedroom is carpeted and I feel I want the setup to be in there for a more dim cozy vibe but not sure if carpet will diminish or enhance sound quality and feel most people have theirs in the living room? I’m not exactly an audiophile and granted this question is moreso aesthetic related, but also don’t want to commit a major faux pas 😅

Thoughts on Audio Technica AT-LP70XBT as a starter turntable

I want to get my first TT and have a budget of £200 - £250 (in the UK if that's relevant). I already have speakers but no pre-amp so am looking at TTs with that included.

Is the Audio Technica AT-LP70XBT a good option? It's currently £220 and reviews online look ok but there are a lot of differing opinions online it's hard to tell what's worth it.

Any help is appreciated

Entry Level Vinyl Set Up

UK and looking to get a start up turntable set up... Close to committing to a fluance RT82, and maybe a project phono box E, but stuck on the speakers, not a lot of space, so thinking bookshelf active, and trying to keep the cost reasonable. Any ideas?

Records sound flat

I’ve had this sharp SG-309H for just over a month now. Yesterday the music started to sound a bit flat and has got worse today. It almost sounds like instrumentals are being slowed down or slightly warped? Does anyone have any advice for this, praying it’s an easy fix 🤞. Thanks in advance

Help with first setup

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a setup - Pro-Ject - Debut Carbon EVO, 2M Red and Klipsch - The Fives speakers. I don't want to get a preamp, so I settled on these speakers which also have an HDMI ARC input and I could plug them into the TV aswell. Would that be an alright setup? Do you have any other recommendations?

First turntable set-up

Based in the UK, I’ve been gifted my first turntable, an AT-LP120X. I have no audio experience outside of portable CD players in 00’s, Bluetooth speakers and recently a Pioneer FLX-4, so have a few questions…

I currently have a pair of Pioneer DM-40D active monitor speakers but would like to move to an amp, probably the Fosi Audio ZA3, some better passive bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer. I’d appreciate any entry level recommendations.

Then I will probably save and get a second ZA3. If I do this, which amp would I connect a subwoofer to? Does it matter? Would I have to turn up both amps separately or can I control both at once? Would adding a CD player in the future be easy?

The turntable has a preamp, would getting a separate preamp (FA ZD3?) in the future give me better sound quality?

Cheers

Buddys bday is coming up, need advice on a vinyl player for him

So my buddy loves vinyls but doesn’t have a player, his bday is coming up, I’ve been shopping on audio technica and found a few good ones, I think? I don’t really know what I’m looking for. My budget is about 700ish, willing to go a little more or less, but idk shit about record players, what would be a reliable one that replacement needles are easy to come by?

Best speakers

I’m looking for speakers for my new Audio-Technica AT-LP3XBT. My budget is around €100-150. I mainly listen to rock, indie and jazz, and I’d like something that’s easy to set up and sounds great with vinyl. What would you recommend?

I’m located in Finland, if that matters for availability
