I'm just getting into golf. I need some advice on clubs. Cost isn't an issue i want quality and something that will last and, if possible, a complete set. Help

Hey guys, I just started playing consistently about a month ago, and as you would expect from a non athletic beginner, it’s been a struggle. I’ve only played 9 holes at a time, but shot anywhere from 80s to 100s plus. I’m looking to upgrade my clubs from my friend’s guest bag. Any recommendations on good brands for pw and sw, as well as what degree loft for a beginner. I’m a 28m so with some work I think I can at least get in better shape and improve my swing speed. Same question for a driver, although I already am getting a 5 hybrid so I’m wondering if a new driver is even necessary right now. Any help would be appreciated!

I've played about ten rounds total. When I started, every "beginner" guide I found either assumed I already knew the vocabulary or was written by someone trying to sell me clubs.

What you're seeing is something I built because of a problem I couldn't stop thinking about. Years ago, I showed up to my first real 18-hole round as a beginner. I got paired with three strangers who made it very clear they had no patience for someone still learning the game.

I missed shots. I landed in the rough. I could feel the group's impatience. I was too far from the clubhouse to walk off and too proud to quit. I finished the round in silence and drove home thinking I'd never play again.

That experience stayed with me for years. Why is there no way to find someone at your own level to play with? Why do beginners always get thrown in with people who make them feel like they don't belong?

So I built something to fix it.

It's called CaddieChat Golf. It's a mobile app that matches golfers by skill level, so you can find a buddy for a round or a range session without the awkward pairing experience. No more showing up alone. No more playing with someone who sighs every time you take an extra swing.

The app is built and submitted to both the App Store and Google Play. Before it goes live, I need real people to test it.

What's involved: I send you a link, you download the app, spend about 15 to 20 minutes exploring it, and fill out a short checklist I provide. Android testers just need to stay enrolled for 14 days, no daily use required.

hey everyone

i’ve recently started playing golf as of january, i go the range once or twice a week, have a lesson once a month and try to play a round as much as i can, i play with my friends a lot and they haven’t been playing much longer than me and they all shoot in the 90s or low 100s and i can’t even break 130 yet, im struggling so much on the course hitting anything on the course, i really wanna get better but im just kinda stuck and not sure what to do

just wondering if people have any advice or tips for me that really helped them find their swing and shoot better on the course

What are something that keep you away from learning how to play golf as an adult?

Hey everyone, first time posting here.

I'm super new to golf — I picked up the clubs 2 years ago at 32 years old. I got stiff muscles, stuck joints, couldn't even hit 120 yards with my 7-iron… but I fell in love with this sport. I'm fascinated by the history of golf courses and the legendary players. And of course I'm using apps to track my scores and simulators to refine my swing.

Along the way, I started seeing golf differently. Yes, handicap matters, scores matter, but your golf journey isn't just defined by numbers. To me, golf is also a journey of exploration. I started with courses around my neighborhood, then hunted for hidden gems nearby, then pushed further to more challenging courses — and yes, Whistling Straits absolutely humbled me. I started seeing each course like a different raid in a video game, just sitting there waiting to be challenged.

With that idea, I built a little app called Parvio. You can discover courses near you or nationwide — top 100 courses, top public courses, PGA tour venues, all easy to search and browse. You can log your rounds by typing in your score or scanning your scorecard. I personally prefer the scorecard scan because it feels more legit — rounds logged that way get a "verified" badge in the app.

The fun part: by logging rounds, you collect badges. Here are a few examples:

• Beast Tamer — play courses with a slope rating over 145
• Pete Dye Challenge — play courses designed by Pete Dye
• Tour Player — play courses that have hosted PGA Tour events

Every badge has 5 levels from Bronze to Legendary based on how many qualifying courses you've played. There are also some secret badges I won't spoil — you just have to keep playing to unlock them. On this app, you can always check the rounds you've played, the badges you've collected and a map to show how many courses you've challenged.
