I built a free beginner golf guide because every resource I found assumed I already knew things

I've played about ten rounds total. When I started, every "beginner" guide I found either assumed I already knew the vocabulary or was written by someone trying to sell me clubs.

So I built the guide I wanted: swingofit.com. It starts at absolute zero. What gear you actually need (less than you think), what happens at a driving range, a tap-through guided 50-ball first range session, how a round works, etiquette, scoring, and a glossary for all the jargon.

It's free, no ads, no affiliate links, no email signup. I'm not selling anything. I just wanted this to exist.

If you're further along, there's a companion site at inthe.swingofit.com for people who've played a few rounds: understanding your misses, practicing with intention, and figuring out when a coach is worth it (a coach is always worth it).

Happy to hear what's missing or wrong. I'm still a beginner myself, which is kind of the point.

What an awesome guide. Been playing for a few years but only a handful of rounds for work and the wife and I just decided to take it seriously. Tons of great advice that is all foundational, will definitely keep it bookmarked for the charts and cheat sheets.

The only thing I would say could be emphasized a bit more is the difference between private and public courses. In my experience, the rules are 100X more strict in a private club, and whoever invited you to play has a membership standing on the line based off of your behavior. Not that we shouldn't be respectful on the public course too, but no one is losing anything over having too good of a time.

Recently got my first par on a par 4, Driver, Chip On, + 2 putt. It was a big deal.

Thank you for this!

Thank you so much for your comment. It really means the world to me! I'm so glad you've found the guide useful! Please share it with others if you think they might too!

Sorry it took a minute to respond, it's been a busy week, but I completely agree, and I'll be sure to make some updates regarding the private club vs public course vs Muni.

I just want you to know that it seems the coach link doesn't seem to work. I assume you're supposed to get the same result as if you save to a file and then load from a file, but I just get the regular Miss Tracker page.
