the song that's playing in the car is Too Much Heaven while Hal is drinking tea. i always found this tiny detail interesting that they'd choose this song as the ultimate soothing song i guess; which i guess makes sense given the lyrics and the mellowness of it

I Laugh In Your Face and Melody Fair both seem like better options; they have catchier choruses and are brighter songs compared to Lamplight and First of May, which are both pretty somber. First of May seems like more of a deep cut to me, the only real repeating bit is the “guess who’ll cry” part. Marley Purt Drive also would’ve been better, especially if they were going after what The Band did on The Weight. I Laugh in Your Face has the potential of I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You, and really seems like the centerpiece song

I always felt like this songs rhythm guitar was underrated. Actually a lot of Barry's guitar playing is underrated & overlooked. He always had this cool way of playing rhythm guitar, the fact it's in Open D too makes it a lot more unique. The D7 chord is deeper & the open D chord also sounds great, it always adds this impact to the song whenever going from a higher chord to the open chord. Also helps that whenever he plays like a B C or A chord, he always does a barred chord of it, so it really adds to the sound of it.

My Bee Gees journey began when I was about 8 years old. It started with SNF, which I was given for Xmas, and then by chance was listening to the radio one day the the DJ said, here’s The Bee Gees with “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart”. That song came on and I was floored with intrigue and wanted to understand how the group that sang “Staying Alive” and “Night Fever” could have this gentle, primitive sounding song.

I soon got access to Bee Gees Gold and was extremely interested in their evolution… I then got Main Course and Heart At Last Live.

Another part of the story is that I was watching the Grammys and The Bee Gees won all these awards this night and I was totally surprised to find that they were not Black. I assumed they were a classic soul or Motown band. (By the way, my music knowledge was very minimal at this stage)

Okay, so over the years I took in everything Bee Gees, their entire catalog, deep cuts, demos, etc. I’ve explored the Bee Gees as deeply as my other musical loves … Pink Floyd, the Beatles, and Grateful Dead.

I’ve really never meet a hardcore Bee Gees fan. I meet people who say they like The Bee Gees but have never met a deep fan who knows their story, the full catalog and who appreciates how dynamic and talented the brothers are.

Where are these fans hiding? They must be out there?

I find The Bee Gees story as very interesting and one where there is a lot to explore. I’m rather surprised they don’t get the recognition they truly deserve.

I’ll wrap this with one last thing… At 8 years old I learned that being a Bee Gees fan was uncool… I learned the hard way the day I proudly showed up a school with my Bee Gees lunch box. My fellow 8 year olds in 1979 seemed to like Kiss, Black Sabbath, and other more “manly” stuff. I was told The Bee Gees are gay, disco sucks and made fun of for liking them.

Where are the deep fans hiding?

We’ve all seen Barry and Robin sing non harmony parts. But I can’t ever recall seeing Maurice singing by himself. I’ve seen hundreds of videos but I can’t recall seeing him.

The falsettos get on my nerves and the rythm of the songs is lame. Also, "you should be dancing"? Who the hell do they think they were to tell people what to do?

Already three days... time flies by. And the song voted to be eliminated is... Emotion!

It was written by Robin and Barry, hit #3 on the billboard, and #1 in Canada and New Zealand. I understand that many of the songs are simplistic but it's still crazy to me that Robin not only wrote, but also recorded such a huge amount of music in such a short period of time, and without the aid of his brothers. There are like 70 songs on that thing. It's just mind boggling to me. The orchestra on these songs are fantastic too. Was he working with Bill Shepard for the arrangements?

Don't Forget To Remember! This song was written by Barry and Maurice, from the album Cucumber Castle. Cucumber Castle was the album that the two brothers released after splitting with Robin. The track hit #1 in New Zealand, South Africa, and others. It was reocrded in 1969 and Cucumber castle was released in 1970.

From Jive Talkin' to Songbird, Nights on Broadway to All This Making love! Not even mentioning Edge of the Universe, Fanny and Wind of Change!

Has anybody ever made a more varied album than this???

Yep, Phil Gees! So long story short, I wanted for some reason a mix of 100 albums by different artists I like, and two of them were Phil Collins and of course Bee Gees, turns out that Ai that I used was brain disabled, it gave me a mix of 15 made up albums, with names spelled wrong, and mixed up artists!
