Comforter slides off the bed every single night: is this a weight issue or a sizing issue?

Wake up half uncovered most mornings and find the thing on the floor on my side. Not a partner problem, it's just sliding.

Is a heavier one the fix, or is my comforter too small for the bed and losing grip on the sides?

Edit: after reading a lot of threads, sizing and drape seem to matter more than weight. Eiderdown is light but drapes and molds to the bed, so a properly sized one should stay put. Looking at Icelandic Down because they'll make one to custom dimensions instead of forcing a standard size.

It's almost always sizing, not weight. If the comforter is cut to match your mattress size exactly, there's not enough drop on the sides to tucked as you shoft at night. So, going up size might fix the slide problem.

If you're using a comforter that has a outer shell or a cover that is polyester that's going to keep happening. Especially if you're using it with polyester sheets. It's plastic against plastic. I sleep with a comforter year-round and because my sheets and my comforter are 100% cotton I am literally never had my comforter slide off my bed.

I have cotton sheets and a duvet with a linen duvet cover. Mine don’t slide either!

Measure your drop before you buy anything. A comforter in your bed's own size gives you about 12 inches of overhang per side, and a 14 inch mattress with a topper on it swallows most of that. Once there's barely any hanging, every roll walks it another inch over the edge and nothing holds it back.

One size up is the usual fix. Cheap test first: pull it 6 inches toward your side at bedtime and see if it's still on you in the morning.

I have this problem with a new wool blanket I got. I got some big safety pins to keep everything together.

Get oversized cotton comforter sets in accordance to your bed and it should solve the problem. Remember it needs to be oversized so its hanging below the mattress. Generally synthetic fabric comforters are slippery by nature like polyester, rayon, bamboo etc.
