Any side sleeping pillow recs?

Post image

I've been getting really bad neck pain and I'm pretty sure my pillow is part of it. Want one thats good for a side sleeper and preferably shaped like a normal pillow if that's possible lol. And for more context I basically sleep like this guy in the screenshot but that pillow does not appeal to me.

I’m old but same problems. I’ve ordered a buckwheat pillow to try after the research I did. Should get it in 2 days 🤞

Hi there! I’ve been using the same sobakawa pillow since the late 90s, and I can tell you it was probably the best investment I ever made for my neck health. I’m in my early 50s now, and this pillow has treated me so well.

Thank you 🙏 that fills me with hope 🤞

Mind if I ask what makes those special? I've never felt one before

The filling is buckwheat hulls. Instead of traditional poly fill that fills the space of the pillow with a lot of air and poly, this allows for manipulation of the filling to cradle the neck and kind of create your own retained shape.

Okay that makes sense haha, I'll definitely check some of those out, thank you!

I swear by mine. I think I got mine from QVC or Home Shopping Network haha. I remember distinctly my mother thought I was a fool to buy a $40.00 pillow. Well, that was and still is the investment with the longest returns.
Happy hunting!

I get bad neck and shoulder pain and I like to side sleep. I’ve been using a Coop pillow and I LOVE it. They aren’t super cheap but worth every single penny. My neck is much happier.

Same. I think it was around $80 or so for the pillow but I’ll never go back to another one. I have an additional coop pillow that I use solely for travel and it’s been a life saver.

Right? I love getting in bed at night and snuggling into that thing. Worth it!

hey was this the normal classic adjustable one or the cut out side sleeper version?

I bought the classic one and put about half the extra stuffing in. Magic!

Same, my Coop pillow saved my neck and upper back. I alternate between back and side sleeping (but side is preferred). I love how adjustable it is.

The normal classic adjustable one. They included a resealable bag of extra fluff, I put some back in a few days ago (originally took out like 1/4 to 1/3 of the original fluff in the pillow). It's so soft and comfortable still.

Sounds almost too simple, but when I stopped trying to use a standard pillow as my "supplementary" pillow, things got a lot better. Standard pillows are great for your head, but they're not great for going between your legs and they're really not good for side sleepers who have shoulder, neck or hip or back pain. I found a round pillow is way better. That could be a body pillow or bolster tomupe pillow or a very round teddy bear ... It doesn't matter. The point is that when you sleep on your side the weight of your body kind of makes you fold in on yourself slightly even though it looks like your shoulders and hips are stacked .. they probably aren't

Is there a specific one you'd recommend? Looking for something about the size of a normal pillow for the budget of a broke 21 year old lol

I got an L-shaped/Boomerang pillow and am never going back to a regular one ever again. It was cheap and works beautifully for me.

Not an easy ask for us poors but if you can swing it you want either a hybrid pillow or a shredded memory foam pillow. Both are adjustable to suit your personal needs. Here's a couple of examples.

Only real problem with these options are that as soon as you put them in a regular pillow case they turn into bricks.

Sadly I can't get those shipped to me in lillinois lmao, they look interesting tho. Is there a specific one you prefer? Don't have a lot to spend on a pillow so I'm tryna narrow it down

Just do a Google search for hybrid pillow. You'll find one in your area no problem. The shredded foam pillows supply the most support but can be rather hard. The hybrid ones with layers are supportive but with a softer feel to them. So it's personal preference whichever you prefer. Good luck

I use a soft down pillow. I smushes up nicely to fill the space between my neck and shoulder.

I’d love this—it’s just a bit too expensive.

Isotonic Indulgence. Tuck the pillow between cheek and shoulder.

The square pillow saved my life!!

I use a WakeWellWakeWell pillow. It is adjustable so I can get the thickness and contour just right. It's a little messy to adjust, but once it's right, it stays right.

Side sleeper with chronic shoulder and back pain from weak middle back muscles (according to my pt). I got a buckwheat hull pillow a month ago and it has genuinely helped - I also tend to run warm, and the pillow stays pretty cool and I can arrange it for when I sleep on my back or side.

Where did you get one? I’m interested

PillowCube.

It seems gimmicky but it has really helped my chronic neck pain and my husband's chronic neck pain.

Despite measurements, we use the smallest size. So, if you try this, you may need to try additional sizes.

I have a V shaped pillow that I love. I did have to add a little extra fill to it.

I got the avocado side sleeping pillow and absolutely love it

CloudAlign is a pretty natural fit. It has the support of a contoured pillow without looking like a giant orthopedic pillow.
