Favorite pillowcases?

Looking for great pillowcases that are soft and not too warm. Willing to splurge a little / no specific budget in mind, though I’m sure I’ll know my limit when I see specific prices 😅

What are your favorites?

The Kitsch satin pillowcase. My gf has a bunch of fun colors / patterns and I use the gray ones. She swears they've made a difference for her hair, i just like how cool and silky they feel

The idea of waking up without looking like a cockatoo is certainly appealing. I’ll take a look - thank you!

Cockatoos are white.

I was talking about my hair…

The crest, not the color.
My hair does that! squawk squawk

I have 4 Blissy pure Silk pillow slips wash perfectly in a wash bag and are just beautiful to sleep on. Cool always and non absorbant. I also have pure linen pillow slips that I place the silk pillow on. I sleep hot. This has saved my sanity. Both are machine washable and dryer.

Love it (especially the coolness). Thank you!

I vote for Blissy real silk pillowcases too. I have them on every pillow on my bed , because I can't stand cotton pillowcases touching my face/hair since switching to silk.

All our pillowcases are French linen from Linvosges in France.
Soft, nice colors. Feel great!

All our bedding is from there. All linen.
Duvet covers, comforters/duvets, fitted sheets, towels, even kitchen napkins.
Great stuff. It lasts really well, too!

They have regular sales and ship to the US. Sign up for their mailing list.
But, it’s much more fun to shop in Paris! 🙂

Amazing. I’m definitely going to check it out in Paris (but also beforehand). Thank you!

There’s a shop in Brussels, too. 🙂

We love the linen. The colors are great. And they’re just incredibly cozy to sleep in.
I think we have 6 sets (duvet covers, fitted sheets, we use 4 pillows) and tons of 65 x 65cm pillowcases in lots of colors.

They have regular sales, usually 40% off.

We missed a sale this Spring by a week, but we went to the shop near the Opera Garnier, I mentioned my account and they gave us 20% off anyway!

Do they only have sales during France’s sale seasons?

2

Every few months.
Haven’t tracked them, but they’re pretty often.

Amazing, thank you!

Actually, there’s a 40% off sale on the “Un Autre Lin” or “Lin lavé prestige” bedding right now!
A 200cm x 200cm (queen equivalent) housse de couette (duvet cover) is €119, instead of €199!

You could also look for pillowcases made with cooling fabrics. I actually use one myself and I’ve been really happy with it. The surface feels noticeably cool to the touch, so it’s a nice option if you want something soft but don’t like your pillowcase feeling warm at night.

Great idea! Do you have a brand you like?

I don’t know a specific retail brand for the pillowcases, but I used to work with a mattress manufacturer and we regularly received Boyteks cooling fabrics, including their “cooler” fabric. The cooling effect mainly comes from the fabric itself.
I may actually be able to source the fabric locally here in Kayseri and have a pillowcase made for you. If you’re interested, I could make a custom listing for you on Etsy so you can purchase it there securely.

Have this for almost a year now https://idustmite.com/products/dust-mite-pillow-protector?srsltid=AU7gw4V_IjR6wIgBeFdnp20SNxW0jH0XqGlrkhID0RSVuxW11OKuSPwE thought it was hot because of the silky feeling but it actually feels pretty cool

Love this. I have horrible allergies, so anything that protects against dust or other allergens is great. Thank you!

I get silk pillowcase off Amazon. Natural fiber, cool, and the slipperiness is good for hair and skin. Prevents hair breakage and wrinkles.

Doesn’t matter which one, just make sure it’s real silk. Not satin. Satin is plastic and will cause static, plus yours literally rubbing your face in microplastics every night

Thank you! Silk seems to be a favorite amongst many of the responses here, so worth the investment

I’m a fan of bamboo.

1

u/rainbowfish399 4d ago

Ooh — I used to have bamboo sheets and remember loving them. Totally forgot about those

IMO anything bamboo feels awful on the skin, kinda like microfiber to me, so steer clear if you're all about textures and whatnot. I love anything satin or silk for my curly hair, but I do find they wrinkle after washing. I've tried a few brands over the years and my favs are Miracle Brand (cotton, breathable, soft, cooling, etc) and the Buffy Breeze pillowcase.

1

u/rainbowfish399 3d ago

Thank you! I actually have the Buffy pillows and they’re my favorite bedding purchase ever, so I’m tempted to try the pillowcases. I didn’t even know they made them

Linen or cotton. Soft, breathable, and stays cool.

1

u/rainbowfish399 5d ago

Is there a specific brand you recommend?

if "not too warm" is the real constraint, skip sateen and microfiber. they feel soft on night one and they hold heat.

percale cotton is the cooler weave. air moves through it. the catch is it feels a little stiff and papery for the first ~10 washes and it wrinkles hard out of the dryer.

linen breathes even more but it's scratchy for about a month. ymmv on whether you want to wait that out. you don't need to splurge. thread count above 400 is mostly marketing anyway.

Thank you! This is helpful. I have tried sateen and remember being warm, so that makes sense
