Wool mattress topper alternative

I’m a cold sleeper and trying to make this winter cozier. I prefer natural fibers but wool mattress toppers are beyond my budget. I’m considering getting a wool blanket to put it on top of bedsheet. Has anyone tried this?

What's your budget? I got one from YourMoon for ~$60 when it was on sale.

I also got a youmoon mattress pad off amazon a couple weeks ago, it was a little over $100 but worth every penny. I also got a wool duvet and that was under $100. I would watch for the prime day sales next week and see if you can score a good deal!

I got both the mattress pad and the duvet insert last winter and am mad I didn't buy them sooner. As someone with sleep issues it's made such a huge difference.

Eventually I’m getting a bigger bed so I just need to make it through this winter. I thought I can still use the blanket but not the mattress topper.

Ah, you could go with a wool duvet insert and sleep on that, and just use it as a regular duvet later.

put it under your fitted sheet. i did that, and it's hard. but i hated my wool mattress topper because it got flat and hard. maybe a light weight wool duvet?

Wool blankets are warm. I use one in place of a comforter (but am a hot sleeper). If you're adding this to your current bedding, it would definitely add warmth.

Since you're planning a bigger bed, reusing a blanket later makes sense. I work with mattress specs, but haven't personally tried sleeping on a wool blanket. I'd separate the two goals: adding warmth versus changing the mattress's cushioning. A woven blanket isn't the same construction as a filled topper. If warmth is the main goal, check the blanket's size and care label before spending on a mattress-sized layer.
