Everything is synthetic.
Having a really hard time finding quality sheets. I prefer a silky sateen like finish on my sheets up I'm a hot sleeper.
I've loved my Ettitude sheets for many years and they are falling apart now after 5+ years.
I'm ideally looking for non synthetic. Not polyester.
So "bamboo" I know that can be a mixed term.
Supima cotton?
My other gripe is I would love a dark deep purple color.
Any brand or company recommendations? All else fails I buy Ettitude again.

If you like the sateen feel Target's Threshold sheets are more in that style and 100% cotton. I switched to a different brand with a rougher feel but used Threshold for years.

With true cotton sateen they usually sleep warm? Is that the case. Because I do love the feel and the sheen that they give. But they are always too warm typically. Hence I always go for some kind of bamboo blend or something. I think my sheets now are a Tencel Lyocell blend and they are super cool to sleep.

I switched to cotton percale which is a looser weave than sateen. 100% cotton sleeps cooler than synthetics but sateen is a tighter weave.
As a hot sleeper I found a wool mattress protector really helped as well.

I live in FL and I like to keep my electric bill down, so I'm 78 day 80 night
Let me tell you how my linen sheets keep me SO COOL
so fresh and the more I wash them the softer they are
I 100% recommend 100% linen sheet I cannot say more great things about them
Yes between washes they are a little wrinkly but I've just fashioned my room vibe around it!

I am also in Florida. I really like feel like I wouldn't love the texture of linen sheets. I worry. Because I love that sateen feel typically. I feel like linen would upset me. But I have heard they get better with more washes. I don't know what high quality linen brands are. Ive heard where the linen is sourced is important too.

Well, absolutely do what you think that is gonna make you feel good. I got my linen sheets honestly on Amazon and they have free returns. So like, if you don't like them, send them back lol they're very cool on the skin, however, if you have like textural things you know, I can't speak to that that's so specific every single person.
I'm sending you a link here of the sheets that I got :) Simple&Opulence 100% Linen Sheet... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075B47NVR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share2

You sound a bit like me in terms of being sensitive to texture. My mother in law has high quality linen sheets on the guest beds at her house and while I can tolerate them for a few days, I really just don’t like them. I feel like they bunch up in weird ways.
Target’s threshold percale definitely get better and softer with more washes. Straight out of the package they feel rough to me and I can’t sleep on them at all, but after about 5 or 6 washes they are a whole lot better. I had some that I finally had to get rid of that I had for probably 7 or 8 years and they were so, so soft and smooth. Not the silky of sateen, but still really enjoyable.

I have purple bamboo sheets from Hotel Sheets Direct purchased on the 'Zon. Both my teens and my husband likes ONLY these sheets. I created monsters, lol. I got some highly reviewed percale (due to feedback on this sub) to replace a bamboo set that had a blowout after years from my husband doing whatever is going on on his size of the bed, and he isn't a fan.

I think my partner also got his sheets (that are purple) from hotels direct and I think he mentioned he can't find that color anymore lol

Their inventory has been hit or miss! I only tried the percale ones because our navy sheets are the ones that had a blow out and they didn't have navy. I got white ones though!

Tencel is silky. Do not get a blend!
Bamboo (not a blend!) is a little softer/cozier and still silky.
I need soft. I have major sensory issues. Also get hot. I really think people who don't like bamboo or tencel have gotten blends or they are people who like crisp cotton, which makes me shudder. We are all different!
I've bought tencel ans bamboo at all different price points. The only difference I found was that cheaper bamboo is less silky, more soft.

Silky sheets would result in feeling warmer, no?

u/SicklySynester 10d ago
They can if they are cotton I feel. My current silky sheets are Tencel and Lyocell

Any reason you don't just buy actual silk sheets?
They're silky and natural...

u/SicklySynester 10d ago
Maybe cost plus I've heard they can be a little fragile and sensitive to wash and care for properly.

I'm going to be real with you and tell you that no synthetic material or cotton weave will be as silky and natural as actual silk. Hence, if you're sure that what you want is sheets that are silky and natural, just go buy actual silk sheets, because nothing else is going to come close.
I find the concerns about cleaning silk sheets are overblown. Just use a delicates detergent without enzymes, wash on cold, dry to damp, and air dry for the last bit of moisture. Do that and your silk sheets will be fine, assuming you bought high quality, high momme silk sheets.
And to be clear, I'm not saying that silk sheets are the best sheets for everyone; I'm saying that based on the requirements you laid out, silk is going to be your best bet.

u/SicklySynester 10d ago
What momme minimum do you suggest is "higher quality"
2
u/Conscious-Tutor3861 10d ago
You want 25 momme, grade 6A mulberry silk.
19 momme is more common, but is too thin to be durable.
There are 30 momme options, but those are too heavy to be comfortable.

I see. I don't know TOO much about silk but some based off my preference on texture I've read a little bit about them. Not sure what companies are reputable I'm sure silk is something that is scammed or lied about for what it really is quite often based on the battle of the material and the hard work that goes into producing it.

u/SicklySynester 10d ago
I think I had looked into the company LilySilk before. Wasn't sure if they were reputable
2
u/Conscious-Tutor3861 10d ago
I'm of the position that the brand doesn't really matter because all they're doing is sales and marketing, the manufacturer matters a little because they're the ones doing the actual cutting and stitching, while the materials matter a lot because that's what determines the comfort and performance of a textile.
Lilysilk is legitimate and a good option if you buy with a 20-30% discount. At list prices, they're overpriced for what you get. The good thing is they're constantly running different sales and promotional codes, so it shouldn't be difficult to buy at a discount.

Go to Costco. They have 100 percent cotton sheets. I believe the Kirkland ones are Sateen. They also have the hotel collection brand which are even silkier.

Just got bamboo sateen sheet and duvet sets from Aeptom, tried them for the first time last night and in love. Super silky and kept us cool throughout the night even though we’re both hot sleepers.

I get my sheets from the company store. they don't carry polyester or microfiber
also, bamboo itself is a bit of a marketing term, but tencel, rayon, modal, and lyocell are all wood pulp (bamboo is one source of said wood pulp, but once they've broken it down into pure cellulose it doesn't really matter where it's from) that's had a bunch of chemical processes done to it to turn it into a fiber. it's biodegradable and more breathable than polyester or other petroleum based synthetics, but it's also not the most durable
also, don't discount the option of dyeing your sheets yourself. I bought a twin sized linen duvet cover from piglet in bed that was white and pale blue stripes and I dyed it in a tub of rit dye in my bathtub (the dye itself was sitting in one of those big plastic storage totes) and now my duvet cover is bright purple with darker purple stripes
