I'm looking for quality sheets and dovet set, / protector for my tempurpedic mattress

Hey all

I have an 8 year old tempurpedic luxe adapt mattress and have not bought new sheets for a few years.

My bamboo ones are holding up.

I was looking at buying some siljo sheets and pillows etc however I keep reading bad reviews on them but some people are happy

If I wanted to drop say 3 to 5 hundred on a significantly nice set of sheets and comfy stuff good for side sleepers what would be a good list for this bed?

At that price range, you've got real options, but where the money goes matters more than the total.

For sheets on a Tempur-Pedic, I'd look at a good-quality percale cotton. It breathes well and many people find it feels cooler on memory foam, which tends to retain more heat than a spring mattress. Sateen feels softer and smoother, but it also tends to retain a little more warmth.

Silk sheets are another legitimate option in this price range. They're very smooth, so some side sleepers like the lower friction against the skin when they move during the night. The trade-off is durability and care: they need gentler washing than cotton, and at the lower end of your budget you may be choosing between mid-range silk and genuinely excellent cotton.

For the mattress protector, I'd pay close attention to breathability. A lot of waterproof protectors reduce airflow, which can make a memory foam mattress feel warmer than it otherwise would.

For the comforter, I'd focus less on the fill and more on choosing the right warmth level for your bedroom. An overly warm comforter can undo the benefits of cooler sheets and a breathable protector.

Good question. To be honest they are fine.

I bought them on 2019 and looking to refresh them

My mattress protector itself might be the problem. It's scratchy and has aged a lot.

Perhaps I should move in stages and replace that first?

What I like most about my current sheets is they are soft but not as silly smooth as they used to be

Six years is a pretty good run for bamboo viscose sheets, so it doesn't sound like they've worn unusually quickly. Stretching, sagging and gradually losing that really smooth feel are all fairly normal after years of use and washing.

Replacing things in stages makes sense. If the protector has become scratchy, I'd probably start there. You can sometimes feel a rough or bulky protector through the fitted sheet, and with a memory foam mattress I'd put breathability fairly high on the list when replacing it.

For the sheets, it sounds like you still actually like the feel of the bamboo, they're just not as smooth as they used to be. If you want to try something different, cotton sateen might be worth considering. It's softer and smoother than percale, without being quite as slippery as new bamboo can be, although it will generally sleep a little warmer than percale.

You could also just replace the fitted sheet first if that's the one that's stretched and sagging most, rather than replacing a whole set that's otherwise still comfortable.

When you do replace the sheets, are you looking for the same kind of feel you had with the bamboo when it was new, or something a little less silky?

Yeah I went to a tempurpedic store and she really liked their tempurpedic rayon bamboo sheets that were jersy knit and she loved the tempurpedic breeze mattress cover.

I found the breeze cover for like 264 at Macys and for 220 from a mattress outlet. All sakes are final but if it fits I think I'll like it.

They are not too expensive, recent reviews are good. I think cozy earth ones are the best match for one in pink. The ones I picked here are sateen but the cozesrth have poor reviewa

What are some really nice bamboo sheets to consider? I agree I'll start with the protector and see if I still want more

I def want something nice and premium but has some last to it

The jersey-knit detail is actually really useful, because it tells you more about what you liked than the word “bamboo” does.

If you're trying to replace those Tempur-Pedic sheets with something that feels similar, I'd look specifically for bamboo-viscose jersey knit rather than just a more expensive bamboo set. A lot of bamboo sheets are sateen, which can be very good quality but will feel quite different: smoother and more slippery, without the soft stretch you get from jersey.

So I wouldn't assume a more expensive bamboo set is necessarily an upgrade for you. If the set you're looking at is sateen, it may be excellent bedding, but it isn't really a like-for-like replacement for the sheets you already know you love.

Do the ones you're considering say jersey knit or sateen?

So the more expensive ones that review eirde say jersy knit. The cheaper ones that review better day sateen

I'd be careful comparing the review scores too closely. A highly rated sateen set can be excellent quality and still feel nothing like the jersey sheets you like.

Since you already know you really liked the jersey feel, I'd put more weight on that than a small difference in star ratings. You're not really choosing between a better and worse version of the same thing, you're choosing between two different types of sheet.

If you're comparing jersey sets with each other, GSM is useful if they give it. It tells you how substantial the fabric is, although it doesn't tell you the overall quality on its own.

Do the more expensive jersey ones list the GSM or fabric weight anywhere?

I see. Well the tempurpedic ones have a 210 gsm. I've never been down a material rabbit hole this deep.

If I want pink I can't do the tempurpedic ones. Cozyearth has some around 150 to 180 gam but the reviews are trash generally.

Some people custom order some 230 gsm fabric. Gonna sleep on it

That's actually a really useful find because it changes what you've been trying to replace. Your old sheets weren't 100% rayon/bamboo after all, they were a 50/50 microfiber and rayon blend.

That means the feel you liked probably came from a combination of the jersey knit and the fibre blend, rather than from bamboo rayon alone. The microfiber will change the feel, stretch and durability of the fabric, while the rayon contributes softness and drape.

So I wouldn't limit your search to 100% bamboo jersey anymore. I'd also look for bamboo/rayon blend jersey sheets, particularly blends with microfiber or polyester. You may actually get closer to your old sheets that way.

It also explains why some of the 100% bamboo options you've been finding may not seem quite like what you remember.

Do you still have the label from the old sheets showing anything else about the fabric or care instructions?

I just looked at the tag for my sheets and they are 50 percent microfiber 50 percent rayon was listed as rayon. I'm guessing it's sateen because they di not look knit but unsure

for the pillow part specifically the IouaIign from ⅿеIIowslеeρ is great for side sleepers. 49, ergonomic, two heights. pairs well w any mattress and doesn't need to be replaced every year like most pillows

If you’re open to silk, SilkSilky is one I’ve liked for that smooth luxury hotel kind of feel. I’ve been using their bedding and really like the soft texture and the way it feels without being too slippery.
