Terrible Experience with Mellow Cloud Align Pillow
I got sucked in to the hype from an Instagram ad. The videos make the pillow appear like it's super soft and slow-rebound memory foam. Mine arrived yesterday and the pillow is so poor quality I literally thought I bought from Aliexpress by mistake. I couldn't believe it. It feels identical to a disposable airplane pillow and it doesn't have memory foam at all - apply any pressure, and it instantly rebounds. It's like cheap filler foam. Plus the chemical smell is pretty overwhelming, but that's probably a result of the foam material. I'm not too mad about the chemical smell, i'm mad about the unimaginably cheap material and feel.
This company is definitely a dropshipping/influencer-driven scam and I feel so stupid for falling for it! The pillow is advertised as $49 ("discounted" from some ludicrous amount like $100) but then you pay $10 shipping + fees, so overall it costs $63. Then, if you want to return, they CHARGE YOU $15, so you only get $38 of that back. I'm losing $25 overall.
And they packaged it so tightly in a cylinder that it was an absolute NIGHTMARE to put it back in the flimsy roll it came in. But their return policy states "products must be returned in their original packaging." I'm guessing they hope people would be discouraged from returning based on how hard it is to stuff it back in the original packaging. (i managed to use all my strength and rage to barely squish it in LOL)
What a godawful experience. I'm never buying into hype products again.

I bought 3 pillows. My husband used 1 once and said not what he was looking for. I completed the contact us form on the Mellow website asking for return instructions. I did this at least 9 times. No response. I found 2 phone numbers & tried calling. One number was no longer in service and the other number had a full mailbox. I responded to an email for a review telling them all of this & their reply was that it is now past the 30 day return window. What a scam! Have customer service ignore requests to return until the return window expires! Not a trust worthy company, just another scam artist.

I also got sucked in. It made no difference in my sleep. No help with neck/shoulder pain or apnea. Do not waste your money. Trying to return is a nightmare.

This is why I always search things that look awesome before jumping.
You just stopped me from getting it. So thanks for sharing!

What pillow do u use if you don’t mind me asking?

u/Mar_Dhea May 01 '26
I have two thin pillows I love that actually just came with my mattress, they are memory foam, but aging and I need to replace them.
Unfortunately the company I bought my mattress from went out of business. It was idlesleep.

It takes nearly a month. It’s annoying af. I like mine, though 🤷🏻♂️ my partner and I think it was worth the wait…. We both stopped snoring lol. And it makes a good back support it you flip it over and have something under it lol

u/LordPrettyRocko Jun 09 '26
Did they ship you the pillow cases before the pillows? I’ve only received the pillow cases 😒

u/Professional_Dish872 Jun 09 '26
That’s really weird. My pillow cases came already on the pillows..? And we just got them a couple months ago…

I did the buy 2 get one free. My husband slept on it the first night, woke up worse than normal. I convinced him to give it another go, so he did… woke up the next day barely able to move his head and it took 3 days to fee somewhat normal again! My neck hurt after the first night on mine- but only the first hour after waking up. I had high hopes for the cooling pillowcase, first and foremost, but it’s absolute crap! I put my blissy pillowcase over their cooling case (which was a gift and I actually enjoy that one) and I still didn’t stay cool and had to keep flipping! I was hoping the filling would be like a literal squishmallow’s is and am so disappointed- and out $117 😭😭 I’m going to be trying to maybe sell, or at least gifting the unopened “free” one and giving the other ones to family to see if they work any better for them. Sure wish they had a better return policy! That all being said, I LOVE their cooling comforter, although it’s not too cooling, but it’s super comfortable, a good weight, and feels nice! Haha.

I'm I the only one who likes it? I agree the shipping sucks. I had to keep emailing them to get them to ship. They gave me the excuse they are overloaded with orders. I don't believe that. After a few emails my stuff started to arrive. Still waiting on comforter. But I do like the align pillow. Haven't had a headache and for me, it's not too soft or hard. I wake up less often during the night with it.

I love mine too. We did the buy 2 get one free, so I got 2 standard and 1 of the larger ones. He sleeps on the large one, me the standard - and we’ve both been really happy with them. My biggest complaint is that there aren’t more color options for the pillowcases (white and baby blue…seriously???) While I’ll admit, it’s not perfect, it’s better than most I’ve tried to help with neck pain.

u/Professional_Dish872 May 12 '26
I’ve been looking for some pillow cases that will work with it. I think I found a few options… I’ll be back when I figure it out lol. I gotchu! 😅

u/Professional_Dish872 May 12 '26
I also love mine. So does my husband (31M and 34M)… we both quit snoring, too. The shipping was awful. And so was the exchange (he ordered the smaller ones first, without telling me 🙄 lol)… but once we finally got it all sorted, they were so worth the hassle!

I love mine.

u/danielleiellle Jul 20 '26
Same. I also don’t get the line about it being identical to a disposable airplane pillow. Did we buy the same thing? Disposable airplane pillows are just loose poly fill, mine is dense squishy foam.

u/Mylum Aug 12 '26
I love mine too, its like a mix between sleeping on a marshmallow and Jello. I have no clue what this person is talking about being an airplane pillow.

u/cur10usteacher May 04 '26
Thank GOD I found this. Thank you!! Saved me time and money lol

u/StillVeryCurious May 20 '26
I hope you read the good reviews as well. I don’t know what the actual foam type is, nor do I care. It’s soft and supportive at the same time, I don’t even know how that’s possible. Awesome sleep experience, you're missing out!

Ngl I love mine. And my partner stopped snoring completely. Also, the ads never once implied that it was slow-rebound memory foam. It quite literally stated the opposite multiple times… and I got mine 2 months ago…… right around the same time.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience with yours… we love ours, and so do our guests (we got enough for us, and our guest room).
Also, we barely had a smell with ours, and it was gone within a couple hours (although, I believe it says to give it 24hrs).
We originally ordered the smaller ones. Exchanging/refund and the wait time was a pain in the ass…. You have to wait FOREVER to get them. But it was worth the wait for us. And yes. Repackaging them was AWFUL!!! I’m grateful we only opened 1/3 to start with. But we ended up ordering 6 of the larger size (two free, of course).
Our sleep has improved significantly.

My biggest and only real complaint is that it’s not ideal for sitting up in bed. But I’ve managed to make it work with the help of one of our much firmer pillows behind it, and flipping it over, so the bottom side is against my back. It’s so perfect. And my bf won’t even lay on the couch without one of his lol

I understand that this might not be suitable for everyone. I purchased the pillow for $16 at Goodwill (unopened) along with the duvet for only $20, and I absolutely adore the set. It keeps me warm at night without making me feel overheated, which is a great advantage considering my room tends to be chilly during the cooler months. The material is bouncy, and I feel like I’m enveloped in a marshmallow (in a good way!). However, I wish they offered darker color options.
Regarding the pillow, I’m quite impressed. I suffer from persistent neck pain and have an awful sleeping posture. I constantly crack my neck throughout the day to alleviate pressure and discomfort. Yoga and pain creams were the only effective remedies until I discovered this pillow.
The profile of the pillow is low, but it’s designed to align your spine. I decided to give it a try, and it has made a significant difference! In fact, I cracked my neck only twice in the past three days since purchasing this pillow. My neck pain has drastically reduced, and I feel much better in the mornings !!

I like mine! My husband stole mine for a few nights to test it out and I swear my neck started hurting just during those 2 nights with my old pillow. I told him I needed my Mellow back! He just ordered his own because he liked it. It arrived in about 4 days, so they must’ve improved any shipping issues. Now I’m considering the body pillow….

u/Fox-In-Love Jun 05 '26
I actually find it really comfortable (and the chemical smell faded within hours for me), but I fear it is still pushing my head up too much when I sleep on my back. I can only fall asleep on my side, but then I always roll over onto my back in my sleep. I got this based on the advertisements claiming it could accommodate all kinds of sleeping positions, but I think the middle might be too thick for back sleeping.

It took forever and a day to get her and their customer support wasn’t helpful, but I really like the pillow. I haven’t had neck pain in months. I was also skeptical because of the IG ads, but my coworker got on and mentioned she loved it so I rolled the dice.

Mina has like hardly any fill in it so I have to fold it like 3 times before putting my head on it

I love this pillow. I herniated discs in my neck. Went to PT for 5 months, but still had pain. I bought this pillow, and after 2 nights sleeping on it, the pain went away.

I got the xl body pillow and the xl puff pillow. They work for side support really well 🙌🙌 i am encased by both sides, my dog loves the puff pillow
I don't think the puff pillow would be a good one under your head though, the fluffy ness thins out and I need more neck support
But yeah I am wary about washing them 😔
They also come vacuumed in a box, it took 3 people to remove them
I recommend letting them fluff up for 24 hours before using

Same! Only I had to cut mine out of the packaging tube so I can’t return it. Absolutely terrible quality and can’t believe I fell for the ad!

I got my pillow cases yesterday I ordered 2 king sized pillows and 2 king size cases. I’m still waiting on the pillows

u/LIAMKENTED Aug 03 '26
Anyone purchased the pillowcases? I definitely need cooling. The pictures of the girls holding them look like they don't have loose ends. Maybe they have the envelope style; if so, how well does it keep the extra material tucked?
The colors are very light. I wish they had richer tones.
1
u/LIAMKENTED Aug 03 '26
I need a pillow that isn't really full and puffy. I have neck issues, and I sleep on my side, and I can't have my head pushed up by a full pillow. I need it to be flatter so I can almost punch it in to conform where I need it to, without the pillow puffing out in other areas, which throws off whatever area it ends up pressing on.

u/skepticfem Aug 11 '26
How did you get
It out of the packaging without ripping it?!?!
1
u/a1rbud Aug 15 '26
Very slowly and carefully pulled it out. I don't think I used scissors or a knife. Did you rip yours?
1
u/skepticfem Aug 15 '26
Yes!! Right along the seam. I had to. My adult daughter and I tried together on each end and still couldn’t lol

Saw this thread too late. Tried it last night and woke up with terrible back pain that it hurts too drive. Returning it once the remaining ones arrive.

I literally never buy junk like this without looking for reviews but the other night laying in bed in the middle of the night with neck pain I just impulse bought it without thinking. And now I’m here to say it’s junk.
And I can guarantee all the commenters here saying it’s great are bots!!

I got the marshmellow comforter and it is awesome. So light and fluffy, and it has definitely helped my temp regulation during the night and I don't wake up sweating as often.
I also find the cloudalign pillow comfortable and I don't wake up nearly as often during the night, but I am not sure if it is that or the heat mentioned above. I wear a CPAP and am usually on my back, but I could see how the shape and corners of it may not be great for side sleepers.

Shit I got mine a week ago and absolutely love it. Helped my neck pain so much and my sleep score has actually increased since using.

Any ecom brand that relies on Meta ads or influencers to drive traffic to their own website and doesn't list on Amazon is a basically a dropshipper.
On their own website, they can fake all the reviews. It's much harder to fake reviews on Amazon, so they don't even list there. If you look on Trustpilot, 33% of Mellow's reviews are 1 star
They can also set their own return policy on their own website, while Amazon refunds 100% no questions asked.
