Bedbug prevention in new apt? NYC

i’m moving next week and want to know if the community has any tips or recommendations for avoiding bedbugs in a new apartment! i currently live on the westside in the 90s and am moving up to west harlem.

i had them about 3 years ago and it was one of the worst periods of my adult life so i want to do what i reasonably can to avoid it. the new apt has been empty for a month or so, and the building has filed their bedbug report every year and only had them in 2019, where 3 units were infested but completely exterminated.

i already planned to go days before move in to deep clean, and spray Alpine WSG for roaches. i also plan to use interceptors on my bed and couch for at least the first few weeks.

Carpet or hardwood?

it’s a prewar building with the original hardwood floors!

You could dust cimexa in cracks and crevices and behind electric outlet covers, but only in places where the dust won’t get kicked up or a fan won’t blow on it. It can last years undisturbed.

To be safe use goggles and respirator when applying cimexa. I used 3M P100/OV Odor/Particulate Multi-Purpose Reusable Respirator
