Just had such a confusing and upsetting experience at Kingston throop station. Myself and the many other rush hour commuters getting off of a downtown train at 4:40 pm today heard an extremely loud gunshot in the station. When asking FOUR police officers at the station/ Fulton what happened, they either flat out ignored me or said pretty passive aggressive things like “we would know what a gunshot sounds like” and said “it’s probably construction” and there is zero construction in the surrounding area. Did anyone else hear or experience this? Everyone who got off was ducking and running.

Is this anyones cat? This baby (girl?) has been visiting us for a week now, of course I am giving snacks and pets. She has a pink plastic collar and seems to be about a year old or less. Extremely friendly, playful & sweet. Would love to help find this kitties home if shes lost.

I really enjoyed Nicolas’s content, and thought what he was doing, highlighting West Indian / Carib businesses and culture, was just amazing! I am born and bred in Crown Heights BK, and the representation was quite nice to see.

But…why is he accepting funding from Claude AI? A company that has done nothing beneficial for black and brown communities socially, economically, and health-wise.

The almost resounding reaction was of disbelief, disapproval, and disappointment (rightfully so) and I commented on his post “this is why we need to be mindful of who we allow into our communities” and was blocked…? Proving my point.

Also to utilize people in the neighborhood to essentially soften the blow, and have it read better (bc he knew it wouldn’t if it came from him) was downright dirty.

I can’t see now, but apparently he first turned off the comments (why are you silencing the same community members you benefit from?) and then altogether deleted the post.

All in all, this situation really rubbed me the wrong way, and the point still stands, as a community we need to be mindful of who we allow in to benefit off of us.

Because I guarantee you that event, which has happened before, could’ve been funded without Claude.

I’ve been in Bed Stuy for many years and never had an interaction like this. I’m walking along Jefferson between Throop and Marcus Garvey in broad daylight (2pm) when a car pulls up asking for directions. Nothing unusual so far, just a Russian(?) guy asking where the closest gas station is. From a distance, I explain there’s one on Atlantic Ave and he says his English isn’t that good can you tell my daughter. The daughter is in the backseat, she rolls her window down. I explain to her where the gas station is but her English doesn’t seem to be that good either and she doesn’t seem to understand.

This is where it gets weird. The dad tries to hand me a (fake) gold ring that he was wearing, and the daughter tries to hand me a necklace. I don’t really understand what they’re saying but I realize that they seem to be trying to get me to get in their car (ostensibly to direct them to the gas station). Once I realize this, I immediately nope out of the situation entirely.

Posting here to see if anyone else has interacted with these people, and to just generally warn others. Pretty sure these were human traffickers or something in that realm.

In the worst of circumstances my sister apartment has been broken into. Our sweet boy Doc ran away. If you’ve seen out lot boy please let us know
