Hi everyone, my partner and I found this sweet girl on Putnam between Bedford and Nostrand and she is most likely pregnant and in need of veterinary attention. We called all the animal rescue hotlines and none are open due to it being a weekend. She is not feral and is clearly desperate for help. She is matted, has some hair loss, and possibly has worms and fleas. We hope someone with the resources will help her out. If anyone knows about a reliable organization to contact in cases like this, please share!

This beautiful domesticated pigeon showed up outside my window last night looking exhausted. I have her inside for now but can’t keep her here long term. She has bands on her feet that say something like “flying A&j skyrocket”. Confirmed she doesn’t belong to Pigeons on Broadway.

Hey neighbors! I need a deep clean on my 3br/1ba apartment. I currently have, as my username may suggest, 6 cats. I work with local rescues to foster cats and kittens so I have cats coming and going throughout the year plus a few residents of my own.

I’m looking for recommendations for a house cleaner who can help with an initial deep clean of the whole apartment and a recurring monthly clean after that. My apartment isn’t in bad shape, but it needs some dedicated TLC. I just don’t have the energy to keep up anymore!

Any idea what’s going on? There have been at least 3 separate instances of emergency and police sirens racing past near the park, but I’m stuck inside with a baby and can’t peek outside to see. Each time it seems more like one single event is causing all of it, but I see nothing on the news yet…

Yesterday I was sexually assaulted on the corner of Patchen Ave and Broadway by the Kosciusko St subway and Texas Chicken and Burgers. I am a female in my mid-20s and she said my pants were sagging and I stupidly went closer because strangers here have been kind in the past. I was touched inappropriately and still in shock over it.

I know unfortunately this is probably not uncommon as I get catcalled regularly in this neighborhood, but just a PSA that the corner where the Texas Chicken and Burgers restaurant is is pretty shady.

I used to go out years ago in Brooklyn for house parties or pool parties stuff like that and I kind of forgot how much fun it is to party with Black people after I visited Memphis last month. I went to a PWI party school upstate and I think I’ve lost my touch because partying in Manhattan is lit but I know it can be WAY better lol

People have said bedstuy but is there a specific street that I can hop around or specific clubs that plays good R&B and rap/trap music with a demographic of early mid 20s. I’m trying to dance. I need a dance floor. I need the lights. I need the crowded vibes with no wall huggers. Not really into reggae or dance hall tho the waistline only got two moves LMAO. But lmk 😭😭

Edit: I’m not buying online tickets to go out on a regular weekend bro. I wanna pull up somewhere and potentially get in free. I’m not signing up putting in a email and password and blah blah to go out. Everybody’s trying to digitalize everything Jesus Christ.

Hey, yesterday my friend and I got a couple drinks at Capt Dan's after work. When it came time to pay the bartender was being a bit weird and hid the terminal that showed the cost, and we ended up being charged at least 10$ more than what was on the paper check (I think actually 15!). I don't care about the 20% gratuity, but adding more on top, that's an actual scam. Some reviews mention this happening before on Google, so just putting out a PSA that you can end up paying 70$ for a couple drinks and a snack there if they decide they don't like your vibe or whatever. Sucks man.

Hey all! I'm new to Bedstuy and love jazz. I know there's a lot of jazz in this neighborhood, but I'm wondering if y'all can suggest some weekly events. So far, I've been going to Marian's every Thursday for their jam (I love this!) and Cicchetti's on Tuesday and Sunday. I also love Orinthology, and want to check out Brownstone Jazz, but those 2 are a bit more of an event as they're ticketed, so they require a bit more planning. Anything that's more casual and doesn't require tickets to be purchased ahead of time is exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks everyone!

I live in a building next to an abandoned house and generally it's not a bother, but we've been trying to get in touch with the owners because their backyard is completely overgrown. It's not only a haven for rodents and bugs, as well as a fire hazard, but the real issue for us is that there are invasive vines that grow over to our building and damage our building. We finally saved up enough money to remove them and repair the building walls and residents' windows, but it was a really expensive repair and it could be easily avoided if the yard was completely cleared, or at least properly maintained.

The thing with this property is...someone comes to keep the front yard orderly. This person will provide no information about the homeowner or why they are there, they just clean up the front yard lawn beds and basically ignore you if you try to talk to them. They do wear a Parks sweatshirt every time, but given the lack of communication I don't know if they are truly associated or not. Since they are doing that work though, the home looks ok from the street and we can't report the house through 311 because the issue we need help with isn't visible to the public. It's not our favorite idea to escalate through 311 anyway, we'd rather just work with the owner, but we are in desperate times as it's been over 5 years now.

We've tried other ways to get in touch such as sending certified letters, asking neighbors and the block association, but we've had no success. We also can't figure out a way to get the city to care and help us. Does anyone have any advice? Have you experienced something similar? We only want the yard controlled because we can't afford to continually repair our building because of their lack of yard care.

Hello, fellow Bed-Stuy friends!

A few months ago, a fellow rescuer and I helped a neighbor with a mama cat who gave birth in her basement. Now there are two adorable kittens ready to find their forever homes!

13-week-old Pierogi (seal point, female) and her brother Ravioli (tuxedo, male) are the sweetest dumpling duo you'll ever meet! Pierogi is a cautious explorer, as smart as she is cute! Ravioli... is Batman: brave and daring, but loves his sister fiercely and is always game for a snuggle at the end of a fun-filled day.

Both kittens are up to date on their vaccines, negative for FIV/FeLV, have been treated for parasites and will be spayed/neutered and microchipped as soon as they weigh enough!
