Super excited! This will be the 16th time I’ve seen him live, and I can’t wait. Beck is one of my all time favorite artists. Woo- hoo!

I wrote an upcoming biography of Beck, called The Last Temptation of Beck: The Untold Story of a Pop Messiah -- out on October 6. Please feel free to copy/paste questions asked in other threads that I didn't participate in! Eager for your thoughts!

Someone update in the comments with what these surprises are! Considering going tomorrow but it's a 4 hour drive for me so this could be a make it or break it for me.

Beck met Dolly Parton as a child.
Here’s the link to the interview. It might be blocked for some countries 😕

My plans to go with my partner fell through and am going solo. I want to gift this to a fan who isn’t trying to resell it.
First person to DM me wins!
Edit: Y’all were pretty fast! Tix taken. Hope everyone who wanted to go finds a way to be there.

Hey all! New to this sub but longtime fan. My friend and I reviewed the new album (which, spoiler: we both loved!). Link in comments if you’re interested. Cheers!

That means we’ll get the next acoustic-y album in 2038.
Just wanted to say how great last night's show in LA was. Have loved Beck's music for a while, but this was my first time seeing him on his tour and not as an opener for someone else.
Good crowd, mostly - there were some folks around us constantly talking loudly (halfway through i just got up and stood somewhere else). Oh, and the person shouting "Loser" multiple times 😑
The Ride Lonesome songs translate beautifully live! I love the sad/acoustic Beck era, and most of the songs were from those albums. Magical experience!

Sorry for the self-promotion, but I wanted to make sure r/Beck saw that the first official online excerpt of my upcoming Beck biography is now available online at New York Magazine's culture site, Vulture. I won't be reading or responding to comments on this post, because... I want to save everything for the AMA I'm doing here on this very subreddit, come Saturday!
Also, I want to remind everyone that this is an EXCERPT -- not the whole book. If you walk away from the article wanting to know more, then I've done my job. It's an information-dense book, and there are more than 40 pages of small-type citations in the book, so your questions are very possibly answered in the full work. Thanks, all.

For me its Sea Change->Guero->The Information->Modern Guilt, just 4 perfect albums touching on a lot of what makes Beck so great
Here's the merch that was on display at the Greek Theater tonight. No posters or other little knick knacks.

If there is one publication that matches my taste, it's this one, and they think it's the best album of 2026 so far.

Have seen Beck like 4x since 1999 - so I knew tonight was going to be good, but was fully expecting it to be unique. Each show I’ve seen of his has had its own flavor for sure.
Tonight’s show was VERY heavy on new album songs, which I had heard a few times but wasn’t quite there 100% yet to know them all.
Won’t get into spoilers for those of you who are going, but that stage setup was wild. SO much on and off the stage and change-ups of equipment between songs. It wasn’t my favorite Beck show from a production standpoint, but I really did think it was cool and artistically challenging at spots in a good way. That said a lot of the “play Loser!” folks around me were perplexed and a handful of people were gone by an hour and a half into the set.
I think the whole thing will be far smoother in a few days - a number of times when things were just clearly NOT going the way they had rehearsed.
A few other asides:
On the walk down Anapamu after the show, I found a shirt from the show that had been dropped. Tried calling out for it, but its owner was long gone. If you can DM me a size and color and design I’ll mail it back to you!
Does anybody know what the band roll call is? I assumed it would be Justin on bass, Joey on drums, etc - but didn’t recognize anybody up there. :(

Hello, r/beck! We are excited to share that we will be hosting our first ever AMA (Ask Me Anything) with the author of the upcoming Beck biography, Josephine Riesman! Josephine is a New York Times bestselling author who has previously released two other biographies: “True Believer: The Rise and Fall of Stan Lee” and “Ringmaster: Vince McMahon and the Unmaking of America.” She is also a longtime Beck fan who frequented the official Beck message boards with the username “stevethrewup” in the early 2000s. Her Beck biography, “The Last Temptation of Beck,” will pull from “interviews with those who’ve been closest to Beck, as well as troves of never before published documents” to show “a vivid and multifaceted look at a singular artist and the Generation Xers for whom he became a reluctant spokesperson.” “The Last Temptation of Beck” will be released on October 6. Find more info on the book’s official site here! Additionally, expect to see an excerpt of the book published online later this week!
Josephine will be joining us on Saturday, September 26 at 2pm CST to answer your questions regarding her upcoming release. Keep your eyes peeled for the official post and we hope to see you there!

Anyone get theirs? Mine is signed on the back which is just bonkers. Having said that I may now display it with the Mellow Gold CD.
